Effective Dynamic Models for the Development of Control Algorithms of a Condensing Gas Boiler System (콘덴싱 가스보일러시스템의 제어 알고리즘 개발을 위한 효과적인 동적모델)

  • Condensing gas boiler units may make a big role for the reduction of energy consumption in heating industries. In order to decrease the energy consumption of a condensing gas boiler unit, the effective operations and controls of the system are necessary. In this study, mathematical models of a condensing gas boiler system were developed and programmed in order to predict dynamic behaviors of the system. These include dynamic models for a blower, a gas valve, a pump, a burner, a boiler heat exchanger, and a hot water heat exchanger. Control algorithms for the control of a gas valve, a blower, and a pump were also assumed. Simulation results showed good predictions of the dynamic phenomena of a boiler system. Therefore, the simulation program developed for this study may be effectively used for the development of control algorithms of the boiler system.

  • An integrated program of driving simulator has been developed for excavators using the Motif, OpenGL, and C compiler. The developed program not only offers a GUI but also covers graphic algorithms, therefore, the user can easily run the driving simulator whose components include a simplified visual graphics system. Several graphics technique are combined and applied to the simulator program in order to increase the speed of graphical representation, which access computer memories, mix 2D models with 3D ones, and use the basic position detection method. A text format environment file has been utilized for organizing more flexible driving circumstances.

One assembles the element made in automatic design program with hand, the other develops the automatic design program for creating assembly model.   • The bus is regarded as one of the most frequently used public transportation systems, the research and development on driving stability, safety, and convenience for drivers and passengers has tremendously increased in recent days. This paper investigated the design of the bus door mechanism composed of an actuator (or motor) and linkages. The bus door mechanism is divided into many types according to the coupling of the linkages and the driving system. The mathematical models of all types of door mechanism have been constructed for computer simulation. To design the bus door mechanism, we developed a simulation program, which automates the kinematic and dynamic analysis according to the input parameters of each linkage and the driving system. Using this program, we investigated the design parameters that affect the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the bus door mechanism under various simulation conditions. In addition, simple examples are examined to validate the developed program.

  • In this study, an intermediate model is presented as a new method for development of a parametric simulation program. This model enables us to analyze effectively the static and dynamic structure of a real production system. The static structure of the real system can be modelled in an entity-relationship diagram and the dynamic structure of the real system in a Petri net. The intermediate model consists of an entity-relationship diagram and a Petri net. Using this intermediate model man can not only reduce the time and cost for simulation program development, but also increase the modelling reliability of the developed simulation program. To show the usefulness of this intermediate model. the intermediate models for two production subsystems, manufacturing sub-system and transport subsystem, are set up.

Analytical Procedures for Designing an Optimal Noise Hazard Prevention Program

  • Two extreme and one mixed procedures for designing a noise hazard prevention program are discussed in this paper. The two extreme design procedures (engineering-based and HPD-based) yield upper and lower bounds of the total noise control cost, respectively; while the mixed design procedure provides an optimal noise hazard prevention program within a given total budget. The upper bound of the workforce size for job rotation is approximated using a heuristic procedure. Six optimization models are developed and utilized by the mixed procedure to eliminate or reduce excessive noise levels (or noise exposures) in an industrial workplace. The mixed procedure also follows the OSHA’s hierarchy of noise control. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the application of the proposed design procedures.

  • In order to build a transient simulation program for a high thrust liquid rocket engine(LRE), a static performance simulation program for components were made. The components were the thrust chamber (combustion chamber and supersonic nozzle), centrifugal pump (impeller and volute casing), impulse turbine, and flow control devices (control valve and orifice). Simplified mathematical models based on classical thermodynamic and inviscid theories were used to remove complexity and enhance the utility of the program. We examined the results of each program qualitatively for validate each component modeling.

  • National curriculum for environmental education recommends various teaching-learning methods including survey and discussion of environmental problems, investigation of case studies, experiments, role play, and field-experience learning in addition to the traditional lecture-oriented teaching methods. The field experience learning in environmental education is considered to be a good method to develop environmentally sound attitude and to cultivate environmental sensitivity, but here has been very limited research concerning models for field-experience learning. The aim of this study is to develop a model of the field-experience learning program of environmental education utilizing environmental facilities. In this study a kind of such a basic model was developed and presented. The developed basic model of the field-experience learning was applied to the case utilizing landfill facilities. A specific application of the landfill program to the Bangcheon-ri landfill, in Daegu, was also presented with related teaching materials developed in this studies. And various aspects in the program was discussed.

  • Interactive Graphic Robotics Integrated Programming(IGRIP) can handle various types of robot models and can exchange graphic or numerical data easily with other CAD software. In a cutting process of shape-steels, however. IGRIP is inconvenient because the users must generate all the tag points manually. In this study we developed an automation program module in order to generate the tag points automatically in IGRIP This program can read and analyze the macro data containing the information for cutting processes of shape-steels and can generate automatically the parts, the devices, the tag points and the Graphic Simulation Language(GSL) program files useful in IGRIP.

  • This paper presents some comparisons between Cournot-Nash and Stackelberg game in bi-level program, composed of both upper level program and lower level one. The upper level can be formulated to optimize a specific objective function, while the lower formulated to express travelers' behavior patterns corresponding to the design parameter of upper level problem. This kind of hi-level program is to determine a design parameter, which leads the road network to an optimal state. Bi-level program includes traffic signal control, traffic information provision, congestion charge and new transportation mode introduction as well as road expansion. From the view point of game theory, many existing algorithms for bi-level program such as IOA (Iterative Optimization Assignment) or IEA (Iterative Estimation Assignment) belong to Cournot-Nash game. But sensitivity-based algorithms belongs to Stackelberg one because they consider the reaction of the lower level program. These two game models would be compared by using an example network and show some results that there is no superiority between the models in deterministic case, but in stochastic case Stackelberg approach is better than that of Cournot-Nash one as we expect.
