With the continuous growth of e-commerce there is a huge amount of products information available online. Shop managers expect to apply information techniques to increase profit and perfect service. Hence many e-commerce systems use association rule mining to further refine their management. However previous association rule algorithms have two limitations. Firstly, they only use the number to weight item's essentiality and ignore essentiality of item profit. Secondly, they did not consider the relationship between number and profit of item when they do mining. We address a novel algorithm, profit-based association rule algorithm that uses profit-based technique to generate 1-itemsets and the multiple minimum supports mining technique to generate N-items large itemsets.
Financial ratio indicators of the 73 sample hospitals provided by the Korea Hospital Association in 1998-1999, together with the data by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute in 1007, were analysed to identify the financial structure and managerial performance of the profit/loss-making hospitals under the IMF. The major findings of this study were as belows. 1. Among the general characteristics, there was a statistical significance in the hospital location and the number of operating beds between profit-making hospitals and loss-making hospitals. 2. Financial ratio indicators of the profit-making hospitals were better than those of the loss-making hospitals. 3. Financial ratio indicators, including Liquidity, Performance Indicators and Growth Rate Indicators of profit-making hospitals, were better than those of loss-making hospitals except for Turnover Ratios under the IMF economic impasse.
Recognizing the lack of empirical studies on the returns to R & D investment in Korean firms, this paper analyzes the relationships between R & D investment and corporate performances measured by sales growth rate, profit rate and PER. The data used here are from 167 firms in 8 different industries covering the period from 1985 to 1989. The results show that the profit rate is strongly correlated with R & D investment. But unlike the results of most studies previously done in the U.S., R & D investment only weakly and insignificantly correlated with sales growth and PER.
This paper investigates empirically the relationship between various business portfolio properties (particularly technological properties) and chaebol's performance using data on the 50largest chaebols in Korea. In addition to the traditional indexes to measure diversification such as entropy index, we calculated inter-industry technological similarity using R'||'&'||'D expenditure data by industry and 1990 Input-output Table in korea, and obtained chaebol-level technological relatedness and internal transaction proportion from chaebols' business profile, inter-inustry technological similarity and 1990 input-output table. We applied factor analysis on 13 business portfolio property indexes and showed that they could be grouped into 3 dimensions. diversification scope, inter-business relatedness and degree of vertical integration. In this paper, using 50 largest chaebols' financial data (1989-1994), we analyzed empirically the effect of business portfolio properties on ROS(Return On Sales) which is conventional index for firm performance and on TFP(Total Factor Productivity) growth which is a pure measure of firm performance. To utilize the advantage of panel data, FEM(Fixed Effect Model) and REM(Random Effect Model) were used. The empirical result shows that the entropy index as a measurement of inter-business relatedness in not significant but technological relatedness index is significant. OLS estimates on pooled data were considerably different from FEM or REM estimates on panel data. By introducing interaction effect among the three variables for business portfolio properties, we obtained three findings. First, only VI(Vertical integration) has a significant positive correlation with ROS. Second, when using TFP growth as an dependent variable, both TR(Technological Relatedness) and VI are significant and positively related to the dependent variable. Third, the interaction term between TR and VI is significant and negatively affects TFP growth, meaning that TR and VI are substitutes. These results suggest strategic directions on restructuring business portfolio. As VI is increased, chaebols will get more profit. A higher level of either TR or VI will increase TFP growth rate, but increase in both TR and VI will have a negative effect on TFP growth. To summarize, certain business portfolio properties such as VI and TR can be considered "resources" themselves since they can affect profit rate and productivity growth. VI and TR have a synergy effect of change in profit rate and productivity growth. VI increases ROS and productivity growth, while TR increases productivity growth representing a technological synergy effect.t.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of financial elements (asset growth, liability growth, equity growth, revenue growth, and profit growth) on stock price performance and to analyze the growth of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) costs as a moderating effect. The technique analysis used is regression analysis. Samples in this analysis are manufacturing firms listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2014-2018. The use of regression models for hypothesis testing must fulfill several applicable assumptions such as Normality Test, Heteroscedasticity Test, Multicollinearity Test, Autocorrelation Test, Model Fit Test, Determination Coefficient Test, and Hypothesis Test. Data analysis used two research models, namely model 1 and model 2. Model 1 is without the moderating variable, and model 2 is with the moderating variable, that is, CSR cost growth. Based on the result of the regression analysis, it can be inferred that the asset, revenue, and profit growth have a positive impact on stock price results. Liabilities and equity growth do not affect stock price performance. Operating expense growth has a significant effect on price performance. CSR cost growth can moderate the effect of growth in financial statement elements on stock price performance but is not significant.
This paper aims to examine the use of the Balanced Scorecard in a not-for-profit organization (the Korea Shipping Association). The KSA has begun using the Balanced Scorecard paradigm in its strategic planning process. In this paper an overview is presented of the basic concepts of the Balanced Scorecard including the financial perspective, customer perspective, internal process perspective, and learning and growth perspective. The accounting system and its pros and cons of the KSA are then surveyed in terms of its performance evaluation. The application of the Balanced Scorecard approach to the KSA is discussed in detail. Implications in using the Balanced Scorecard are discussed. Finally, conclusions regarding the use of the Balanced Scorecard in a not-for-profit organization are presented. Through this paper, the comprehensive understanding of the performance evaluation for not-for-profit organizations as the KSA would be promoted.

The primary purpose of this study was to investigate business performance in small apparel retailer's stores operated independently. Data were collected from 167 managers independently operating small apparel stores in Busan and Ulsan. The aforementioned were analyzed utilizing frequency, factor analysis, ANOVA, regression analysis using SPSS Win 12.0. The results showed as follows; Factors influencing on perception of managers on business performance were market information, cost/quality control, opposing power to business depression, store management, product management, sales promotion. There were significant differences between factors influencing on perception of managers on business performance and business performance(the extent of success, profit and growth). It was market information and store management that the most important for the extent of success. It was opposing power to business depression, store management and product management that the most important for the extent of profit. Purpose - This exploratory study analyzes the performance of the business from the HRM point of view. Analyzed the influence of HRM and organization effectiveness on business performance. Also moderating effect of the strategy is analyzed. Research design, data, and methodology - Two outcome variables are measured, non-financial performance and financial performance. Two organizational effectiveness variables are measured, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. And two HRM areas are measured, HRM practice and organizational culture. Finally, two strategies are measured as moderators, market strategy and product/service strategy. This study analyzed employees of 554 from the 7th HCCP. This study used SEM and MCFA. Result - The results of turnover intention, growth rate, and profit rate verified the influence of HRM and organizational effectiveness. Overall results showed a contrary effect of education & training system implement and participation on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Among organizational culture, innovation and relation positively affect job satisfaction and organizational commitment. However, antecedents influencing turnover intention, growth rate, and profit rate bear no resemblance. And the MCFA result shows that strategy's group differentiation analysis is meaningful in turnover intention not in financial performance. Conclusion - Based on this study result, management suggestions for turnover intention, growth rate, profit rate, and organizational effectiveness are made. Especially, due to the company's strategy.
The main purpose of this article is for deriving functions related to the prediction of the closure of the hospitals, and finding out how the discriminant functions affect the closure of the hospitals. Empirical data were collected from 3 years financial statements of 41 private hospitals closed down from 2000 till 2006 and 62 private hospitals in business till now. As a result, the functions related to the prediction of the closure of the private hospital are 4 indices: Return on Assets, Operating Margin, Normal Profit Total Assets, Interest expenses to Total borrowings and bonds payable. From these discriminant functions predicting the closure, I found that the profitability indices - Return on Assets, Operating Margin, Normal Profit Total Assets - are the significant affecting factors. The discriminant functions predicting the closure of the group of the hospitals, 3 years before the closure were Normal Profit to Gross Revenues, Total borrowings and bonds payable to total assets, Total Assets Turnover, Total borrowings and bonds payable to Revenues, Interest expenses to Total borrowings and bonds payable and among them Normal Profit to Gross Revenues, Total borrowings and bonds payable to total assets, Total Assets Turnover, Total borrowings and bonds payable to Revenues are the significant affecting factors. However 2 years before the closure, the discriminant functions predicting the closure of the hospital were Interest expenses to Total borrowings and bonds payable and it was the significant affecting factor. And, one year before the closure, the discriminant functions predicting the closure were Total Assets Turnover, Fixed Assets Turnover, Growth Rate of Total Assets, Growth Rate of Revenues, Interest expenses to Revenues, Interest expenses to Total borrowings and bonds payable. Among them, Total Assets Turnover, Growth Rate of Revenues, Interest expenses to Revenues were the significant affecting factors.
