  • Much research has been documented on the topic of journalist labour, including process of news production, organizational culture and journalist ethics. Relatively little interest is given to the recent changes in journalist labor caused by the digital convergence in contemporary news industry, however. This study explore the changes from the perspective of the transformation of professional works, practices and identities. For the purpose, in-depth interviews with 17 Korean journalists were conducted and the results can be summarized as follows. First, interviewed journalists expressed both expectations and worries concerning the changes of news production environments. • This study investigates ethical dilemmas of teacher-librarians in their professional practice. Within the framework of "Librarians' Statement of Ethics" by Korean Library Association, the study used the survey and semi-structured interview with teacher-librarians. 259 teacher-librarians responded the survey and 5 teacher-librarians participated the interview. The survey was analyzed using descriptive statistics to find how often teacher-librarians experience ethical dilemmas. The semi-structured interview was transcribed and analyzed to draw the individual cases of teacher-librarians' ethical dilemmas. The results indicate that teacher-librarians experience ethical dilemmas in relation to information access and intellectual freedom most often. It was difficult for teacher-librarians to relate their professional duties with their expertise and that they were not clear on how to avoid copyright issues and how to deal with the balance between users and copyright holders. This study had implications that individual dilemma cases are so context-dependent that teacher-librarians had to make decisions individually. They tried hard to find the balance between protecting students from harmful resources and library ethics. Researchers and practitioners need focus more on finding where the balance is and how teacher-librarians deal with their ethical dilemmas.

  • This study presents implications of the Global Data Law & Policy by comparing national data strategies, data regulations and policies, and governance in South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. According to the result of the comparative analysis, the biggest difference is in data governance, in other words, the management and coordination of policies at the pan-government level and data ethics. Therefore, this study proposes the establishment of a presidential special committee on data policy or the creation of a 'National Digital Innovation Office' at the Presidential Secretariat as a national CDO for the governance of data policies. Furthermore, this paper suggests a) to enact 'the Framework Act on the Development of Data Industry' that can regulate data practices in the private sector, b) to institutionalize the data-centric security and data protection, c) to settle the public ethics and personnel management based on data expertise and professional ethics, including explainability and responsibility, and d) the education and training systems.

  • This study has surveyed 379 social workers to recognize how much they believe their behaviors are ethical related to dual relationship and how many they have experienced dual relationships with their clients. In addition, we also examined if there were significant differences in social workers' beliefs and experiences according to their socio-demographic characteristics and organizational properties. To accomplish this purpose, we conducted frequency analysis, single sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance focusing on sexual, bartering and private relationships. Respondents tend to have a little permissive attitude about dual relationships while they little experienced of them. Social workers's beliefs and experiences are different depending on gender, education level, work experience, position, training experience of ethics and service target. From these results, it suggested that code of ethics for social workers and the curriculum of social work ethics should be revised reflecting on present field situation and inspiring ethical sensitivity.

  • The police do their best effort to make all security standards of competence and law enforcement suit the public's expectation, take precedence over the direction of the security policy to what the people want, and realize the Republic of Korea in which the people are happy with a strong police security. On the other hand. The people demand the fairly high level of moral integrity to the police who are in charge of law enforcement at the forefront than any other organization. Suggesting various measures for enhancing the organizational level of police ethics in police ethics awareness of police offices have been working on, yet the prevailing view that still insufficient. In this study, after analyzing the current moral status of the police, I suggest ways to improve as follows: First, strengthening the training and improving the program of police ethics. For this, securing professional teacher and implementation of customized ethics training are necessary. Second, the subject of human nature test should be expanded. The targets are limited to less than a supervisor. It should be expanded to all police officers. Third, the improvement of the organizational culture. For this, introduction of mentoring system and enlightening-oriented inspection is needed. Fourth, reducing the burden of manpower by reinforcing personnel. By defusing lack of police personnel, the police will be able to conduct intensive and effective ethics education. Finally, the provision of the stress relief measures for the police. To this end, the police requires constant efforts of the organization itself.

  • As the service robot market grows among the food technology industry, the quality of robot service that affects consumer behavioral intentions in the restaurant industry has become important. Serving robots, which are common in restaurants, reduce employee work through order and delivery, but because they do not respond to service failures, they increase customer dissatisfaction as well as increase employee work. In order to improve the quality of service beyond the simple function of receiving and serving orders, functions of recovery effort, fairness, empathy, responsiveness, and certainty of the process after service failure, such as serving employees, are also required. Accordingly, we assumed the type of failure of restaurant serving service as two internal and external factors, and developed a serving robot with a vocational ethics module to respond with a professional ethical attitude when the restaurant serving service fails. At this time, the expression and action of the serving robot were developed by adding a failure mode reflecting failure recovery efforts and empathy to the normal service mode. And by recruiting college students, we tested whether the service robot's response to two types of service failures had a significant effect on evaluating the robot. Participants responded that they were more uncomfortable with service failures caused by other customers' mistakes than robot mistakes, and that the serving robot's professional ethical empathy and response were appropriate. In addition, unlike the robot's favorability, the evaluation of the safety of the robot had a significant difference depending on whether or not a professional ethical empathy module was installed. A professional ethical empathy response module for natural service failure recovery using generative artificial intelligence should be developed and mounted, and the domestic serving robot industry and market are expected to grow more rapidly if the Korean serving robot certification system is introduced.
