A Production-and-Scheduling for One-Vendor Multi-Buyer Model under the Consolidation Policy (다수 고객 통합전략을 활용하는 생산 및 물류계획 수립)

  • This paper considers an integrated one-vendor multi-buyer production-inventory model where the vendor manufactures multiple products in lot at their associated finite production rates. In the model, it is allowed for each product to be shipped in lot to the buyers even before the whole product production is not completed yet. Each product lot is dispatched to the associated buyer in a number of shipments. The buyers consume their products at fixed rates. The objective is to the production and shipment schedules in the integrated system, which minimizes the total cost per unit time. The total cost consists of production setup cost, inventory holding cost and shipment cost. For the model, an iterative optimal solution procedure with shipment consolidation policy incorporated. It is then tested through numerical experiments to show how efficient and effective the shipment consolidation policy is.

Translucency changes of direct esthetic restorative materials after curing, aging and treatment

  • The purpose of this article was to review the changes in translucency of direct esthetic restorative materials after curing, aging and treatment. As a criterion for the evaluation of clinical translucency changes, visual perceptibility threshold in translucency parameter difference (${\Delta}TP$) of 2 was used. Translucency changes after curing were perceivable depending on experimental methods and products (largest ${\Delta}TP$ in resin composites = 15.9). Translucency changes after aging were reported as either relatively stable or showed perceivable changes by aging protocols (largest ${\Delta}TP$ in resin composites = -3.8). Translucency changes after curing, aging and treatment were perceivable in several products and experimental methods. Therefore, shade matching of direct esthetic materials should be performed considering these instabilities of translucency in direct esthetic materials.

  • International trade conflict has been increased since WTO has appeared. Like this, the cause that the number of international trade conflict has been increased is by means of enlargement of agreements range. But some new facts have been added. They are Anti-dumping, subsidy, Countervailing duty, Safeguard, the norm of intellectual property right, the procedure of permitting importing products, Technical Barriers, agricultural products, and the area of textile. Since Japanese government has decided to give lavor import quarters to China without permission of Korea, Korean government formally presented the system of lavor import quarter to WTO DSB due to WTO agreement disobedience of Japan. Accordingly, this paper has the following purpose; to analyze situation on fiber dispute of Japan. Some methods about trade barrier against Japan need to be solved from another viewpoint owing to lavor IQ dispute.

  • Warranty cost analysis for one-dimensional warranties assumes that the usage intensity (or rate) is the same for all buyers. In real life the usage intensity varies across the population of buyers. Also for products sold with warranty, preventive maintenance actions by manufacturers and buyers have a significant impact on the total costs for both parties. In this paper we deals with models to study the expected warranty cost for products with free repairable warranty with varying usage intensity and three types of preventive maintenance. We also review the literature which links warranty and maintenance and develops a framework to define new topics for research in the future and examines a new model formulation. It then develops a new model and carries out its analysis.

  • Glycosylation is a key mechanism in determining diversity of natural products, and influencing their bioactivities. This approach requires a core set of glycosyltransferase that synthesizes the diverse sugar structures observed in nature. Recently, the researchers have begun to alter the sugar moiety and glycosylation patterns of natural products both in vivo E. coli system and in vitro for their glycodiversification. This review highlights new glycosylation tools using microbialproduced deoxysugar and a flexible glycosyltransferase on natural plant-flavonoids to generate novel glycoforms with useful biological activity.

  • Advanced melting technology is now being employed in the manufacture of stainless steel powders. The new process currently includes electric arc furnace (EAF) technology in concert with Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD), High Performance Atomizing (HPA) and hydrogen annealing. The new high performance-processing route has allowed the more consistent production of existing products, and has allowed enhanced properties, such as improved green strength and green density. This paper will review these processing changes along with the potential new products that are being developed utilizing this technology. These include high strength stainless steels such as duplex and dual phase as well as stainless steel powders used in high temperature applications such as diesel filters and fuel cells.

Television Food Advertisement: Review and Recommendation (텔레비전 식품 광고에 관한 고찰)

  • Television food advertisement is the most effective way to reach to consumers with food and nutritional informations and affect their eating behavior. Therefore, 218 food commercials were reviewed using video tapes and copies to know the present food product trends, food messages they transmit and define misleading food commercials. Messages were focused on the benefit of health promoting substances they contain, especially for functional food components, fortified nutrients, food safety focused on food additives, convenience and differentiation with other products. Overnutrition on specific nutrients could be expected due to nutrient fortified products and misleading of food commercials were also noted. Regarding trends, guidelines provided by television broadcasting company shoud be fortified in the connection of Food Hygine Law and supervision committe should reinforce the food company to summit data for the approval of their advertisement claims. Nutrition educational spot program shoud be produced and broadcasted for the public to protect the consumer from food faddism in near future.

  • Bread making is based on several simple unit operations, basically kneading, fermentation and baking; however, it is still a quite complex process and bread quality can be strongly affected by minor details. The market of bread production is roughly shared at 50-50 between the industry market and the artisanal market, even though the frontier between these two players is not very easy. Different strategies have been developped by the industry to extend the shelf life of bread or to interrupt the bread making process. Freezing for example has been used form the 50s to extend the shelf life of bakery products. It was first applied to fully baked products and then to frozen dough which appeared as an interesting strategy to interrupt the bread making protocol. This paper presents a review on key issues of the frozen dough technology.

  • The Seoul subway is acting the center of public transportation after the opening of the first line on August 15, 1974. and the subway line of the DC traction system is running and building to the ninth line. However, the main insulation parts used in overhead contact line are now imported from overseas products. Therefore, this paper considers domestic manufacture technology, supply easiness and economic effectiveness of insulation products and reviews the safety of support insulator used in rigid conductor line, stem insulator used in movable bracket and AC/DC different phase section insulator that localization development is necessary.

Biological activity of peptides purified from fish skin hydrolysates

  • Fish skin waste accounts for part of the solid waste generated from seafood processing. Utilization of fish skin by bioconversion into high-grade products would potentially reduce pollution and economic cost associated with treating fish processing waste. Fish skin is an abundant supply of gelatin and collagen which can be hydrolyzed to produce bioactive peptides of 2-20 amino acid sequences. Bioactivity of peptides purified from fish skin includes a range of activities such as antihypertensive, anti-oxidative, antimicrobial, neuroprotection, antihyperglycemic, and anti-aging. Fish skin acts as a physical barrier and chemical barrier through antimicrobial peptide innate immune action and other functional peptides. Small peptides have been demonstrated to possess biological activities which are based on their amino acid composition and sequence. Fish skin-derived peptides contain a high content of hydrophobic amino acids which contribute to the antioxidant and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitory activity. The peptide-specific composition and sequence discussed in this review can be potentially utilized in the development of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products.
