업무생산성 향상을 위한 종합정보업무환경 구축에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Integrated Information Work Environment for Improving Work Productivity)

  • There have been strong arguments that the best organizational type for the information society is a network organization which is intelligent and learning-oriented as well as has problem solving capacities rather than a traditional passive organization which strictly follows standard operating procedures. In this perspective, integrated information work environment emerges as attractive work environment for the 21st century. Integrated information work environment is defined as an integrated electronic environment that is available to and readily accessible be each employee and is structured to provide immediate, individualized on-line access to the full range of information, software, guidance, advice and assistance, data, images, tools, and assessment and monitoring systems to permit job performance with minimal support and intervention by others. Case study was performed to measure the productivity improvement by implementing integrated information work environment in life insurance company. The results show that there is a number of indications of strong work productivity improvements.

  • Computer-Aided Software Engineering or CASE is the technology for automating the software development and maintenance process. Many firms are turning to CASE in hopes of realizing improvement in productivity and system quality. Although expenditures on CASE were reported to be rapidly rising, the performance gains have been very difficult to measure. The empirical results in this article are intended to provide some evidence about (1) the major objective of using CASE, (2) the gains from CASE, (3) the difference in productivity among CASE tools. They are based on an analysis of data collected from 61 software engineers from five corporations who have the experience of using CASE.

  • The productivity is the one of the primary elements to evaluate the new systems performance for building construction along with the economic efficiency, the safety, and the quality improvement. At present the on-site construction automation systems(we will call it as Construction Factory or CF hereafter) is under the development by research group for construction automation of high-rise building. The system includes many sub-systems such as a robotic crane, a construction factory, bolting robots, a building material management system using RFID and so on. In this study we discuss and propose the method to evaluate for these hybrid on-site automation system fundamentally. In future we devise a framework of evaluation modules for the on-site building automation system on the basis of this discuss.

  • Investments in factory automation do not guarantee productivity enhancement. Much unknown losses may exist in all aspects of production resources such as in material, manpower, machine, etc. Total productivity in korean firms has decreased in recent years. Labor and capital productivity index fall to 0.82 point and 0.73 point, respectively. Investment in FA has Increased rapidly. Tangible fixed assets per capita increased 64% during the past Three years. But, this high-technology oriented systems such as NC, robotics, CAD/CAM, FMS, etc. are often out of keeping with the old production process control, and thus do not result in satisfactory performance. This review paper concerned with these problems and suggests some future directions for production control and development strategy of korean firm's.

  • Filling of the tool die directly influences dimensional tolerances and density variation. To minimize the variations in filling, both within different sections of the cavity and from part to part, are of great importance for produce high quality P/M parts. Filling of the tool die is also one of the limiting factors in the productivity in powder pressing. By using aeration filling in combination with bonded powder mixes, both weight scatter and productivity can be improved. In this presentation results are presented showing the benefit of using aeration filling for different types of powders

RFID-Based RTLS for Improvement of Loading Productivity in Container Terminals

  • Shipping companies consider most of the ship turnaround time as a critical factor when selecting a rolling port for reducing costs. So, many researchers have been studying for the optimization of preplanning and high~performance of the Gantry Cranes (GCs) in container terminals for faster loading and unloading. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) based RTLS (Real-Time Location System) for reducing the ship turnaround time in ubiquitous port environment. In addition, pre-planning based on ubiquitous computing environment will support the GC and Yard Tractors (YTs), and reduce ship turnaround time more effectively. Especially, the proposed method enormously enhances the productivity of loading for the twin-lift system It will reduce the whole lead-time in the process of port logistics.

Comparative Performance Analysis of Robot-based Automated Construction System Using a Real Scale Test Project

  • A large-scale research project to develop a robot-based automated building construction system for steel structures was successfully conducted in South Korea. This paper discusses the results of the real-scale test and the key lessons gained from the testing process. The system was assessed in terms of system productivity, construction cost, quality control, and safety improvements. While the productivity of the automated system showed an improvement of about 9.5%, the construction cost was about six times higher than that of the conventional method. The field test also indicated that the automated system requires more on-site quality control measures. However, because the system can eliminate the causes of various safety accidents, safety levels might be expected to be improved significantly. It is expected that this paper will provide knowledge and insight for developing new systems, and the results of the real-scale test might be useful for other researchers and similar research projects in the future.

  • Recently, maintenance of old facilities has emerged as a major issue. In particular, the demand for road cutting and excavation is increasing due to the aging of underground facilities such as water supply, sewage and city gas. In addition, the development of eco-friendly equipment is required due to the environmental problems of noise and dust. Therefore, this study intends to analyze the performance in terms of productivity of the eco-friendly road cutter developed as part of the development of eco-friendly equipment, and to derive improvements.

Research Productivity in Business and Economics: South Korea, 1990-2016

  • This paper ranks higher education in Korea based upon research productivity in business and economics disciplines. The number of SCI-level journal articles are tabulated using the Web of Science search engine, over the sample period from 1990 to 2016. The league table shows that many private universities dominate top-tier ranks, which is consistent with the school reputations most commonly cited by the general public in Korea. In contrast, many national universities appear in the second-tier, and their scanty performance in business and economics is in sharp contrast with our earlier findings in which national universities performed well in science and engineering fields (Jin and Kim, 2018). In addition, the ranking order in lower-ranked schools is found to be sensitive to a small change in publications, whereas the publication gap among top-tier schools is relatively large. Finally, unlike our general perception, the size of school does not matter for collaborative research. Some policy implications are discussed as a conclusion.

  • 최근 대량생산에 기초한 세계 경제의 패러다임이 공급과잉과 개도국 위주의 지나친 양적 경쟁으로 인한 폐해로 인하여 환경악화와 각국간 갈등구조 심화 등 새로운 문제로 분출되면서 이와 같은 외부효과의 내재화와 생산 과정의 투명성, 예측가능성의 글로벌 표준에 입각한 지속가능 경쟁체제에 대한 패러다임이 급속히 확산되고 있다. 특히 제2차 G20정상회의를 계기로 전세계적인 녹색성장을 새로운 패러다임으로 제시한 한국경제에 있어 환경문제는 매우 심각하며, 그 어느 분야보다 친환경적인 녹색생산성에 입각한 지속가능한 국제경쟁력의 강화가 시급한 상황이라 할 것이다. 선진국으로의 진입을 목전에 둔 상황에서 기존의 투입대비 산출량의 극대화를 위한 생산성 향상전략은 그 내재적인 한계가 심각한 상황에 이르고 있기 때문이다. 이를 극복하여 지속가능한 국가경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 핵심적인 의제는 바로 녹색성장을 위한 효율성, 즉 녹색생산성에서 비롯된다고 할 것이다. 이를 위해 기존의 전통적 생산성개념에 환경오염변수를 고려한 방향적 거리함수(directional distance function)와 Malmquist 지수 (ML지수)가 개발되면서 다양한 논의가 진행되었고, 본 연구는 그 가운데에서도 가장 최근에 새롭게 제시된 연구방법론적 특성과 경영환경의 특성을 감안한 총체적 ML지수 (Global Malmquist-Luenberger Index, GML) 연구 모형을 소개하여 환경 보호와 경제개발을 조화롭게 추진하기 위한 녹색생산성의 실질적인 효과를 분석하기 위한 종합적이고도 체계적인 패러다임을 제시하고자 한다.
