사람치아 단백질을 분리 흡착한 PVDF막의 생체반응에 관한 연구 (BIOASSAY OF HUMNA TOOTH PROTEIN BLOTTED POLYVINYLIDENE DIFLUORIDE(PVDF)MEMBRANE)

  • Purpose: Human tooth proteins are highly heterogeneous, comprising diverse proteins derived from a number of genes. The attempts to identify protein for activity of tooth matrix proteins have been defied by several factors. First, the amount of proteins within teeth is very small relative to many extracellular matrix proteins of other tissues. Second, the bioassay system is tedious and needed for long time. Therefore we tried to find easy techniques, which increase the product rate, and an assay of small proteins, with which amino acid sequence is possible without additional procedures. Materials and Methods: Total protein were extracted from 300 g enamel removed teeth and 600 g teeth with 4 mol/L guanidine HCl and purified by gel chromatography. Aliquot of proteins was implanted into muscle pouches in Sprague-Dawley rats for bioassay. By SDS-PAGE and membrane blotting, molecular weight of each protein was estimated and a partial amino acid sequence was obtained. Each fraction blotted on the membrane was cut out and inserted in rat ectopic model. Results: In dissociative method, total tooth proteins were obtained 1mg/ml from enamel removed teeth and 3.5 mg/ml from teeth. In SDS-PAGE, four clear bands at the sites corresponding to 66, 40, 20 and 18 kD. Especially The 66 kD band was clearly exhibited. Amino acid sequencing from tooth could be possible using PVDF membrane blotting technique. In amino acid sequencing, 66 kD protein was identified as albumin. Conclusion: Compared with conventional method for extraction of teeth protein and bioassay of proteins, the methods in this study were easy, time-saving and more productive technique. The matured tooth proteins omitting additional procedure of mechanical removal of enamel were simply analyzed using blotted PVDF membrane. This method seems to make a contribution as a technique for bioassay and amino acid sequencing of protein.

온라인과 오프라인이 융합된 성공적 산업클러스터의 프레임워크 (A Framework for Success of Industrial Clusters: The Fusion of Online and Offline Businesses)

  • 본 연구에서는 중소기업 위주의 산업클러스터에 속한 오프라인기업들이 전자상거래를 도입함에 따라서 획득할 수 있는 효익을 분석한다. 현재 우리나라에서 새로운 산업진흥책으로 채택되고 있는 산업클러스터에 있어서 온라인과 오프라인이 융합되었을 경우 얻을 수 있는 효익을 분석하고 그 효익을 기반으로 경영성과의 향상을 도모할 수 있는 방향을 모색함으로써 산업클러스터의 성공적 프레임워크를 제시하고자 한다. 국내 항만물류클러스터에 속한 73개 오프라인기업들을 대상으로 한 분석에서 정보의 공유비용절감, 가치추가 서비스, 고객관계, 신뢰증진, 마케팅 효을성 등 여섯 가지 효익요인이 추출되었으며 이들 요인을 독립변수로 하여 재무성과, 고객성과, 내부프로세스 성과, 학습 및 성장성과 등 네 가지 경영성과 항목 각각에 대해 회귀분석을 행하였다. 그 결과 각각의 효익변수들이 네 가지 경영성과 항목 중 한 개 또는 그 이상의 항목에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • This study focused on the adjustment of family living culture in relation to women who have immigrated for marriage. Specifically, it sought to determine how Vietnamese immigrant women understand and adapt to the culture of family life in Seoul, Korea. The investigation was conducted from 2 May to 30 May 2014, with 28 Vietnamese immigrant women as participants. Personal, family, social, and cultural factors affecting family life and culture were considered. It was determined that Vietnamese women can easily adapt to life in Korea to provide; the results of the material analysis are described below. First, Vietnamese immigrant women are satisfied with their economic life in Korea. In Vietnam, women have the right to marry Korean men if they want to. Vietnamese women are encouraged to marry want to marry a Korean man. Because they are satisfied with the present marriage. Second, migrant women learn to adapt to South Korean culture and food. However, cultural differences between a woman's husband and mother-in-law can become a source of conflict. Third, children of multicultural families easily accept Vietnamese people, since they are educated to do so through their Vietnamese mothers Vietnamese woman wants to teach their children the Vietnamese food and culture. Fourth, the Vietnamese immigrant women also participate in multicultural family support centers and communities. They want to become productive members of society through employment opportunities in South Korea. Fifth, the cultural and welfare policies of the government should be carried on so that migrant women are able to study cultural adaptation. This case study examined difficulties that Vietnamese immigrant women have in adjusting to life and culture in Korea. The findings could be used as a resource to help Vietnamese women living in Korea.

우울 및 불안장애 환자에서 신체 통증과 관련된 인지정서조절전략 (The Relationship Between Somatic Pain and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies in Patients with Depression and Anxiety Disorder)

  • Objective : Emotional state and emotion regulation strategies are considered to be important factors influencing the pattern and severity of somatic pain. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between cognitive emotional regulation strategies and somatic pain in patients with depression and/or anxiety disorders. Methods : A total of 140 outpatients, diagnosed with depression and/or anxiety disorders according to DSM-IV-TR, were evaluated using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ), and the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) for somatic pain. Pearson correlations and independent t-tests were performed to analyze the relationship between somatic pain, the severity of depression and/or anxiety and cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Results : The severity of pain was significantly correlated with depressive symptoms, but not with anxiety. Patients with somatic pain tend to use maladaptive cognitive emotion regulating strategies more frequently, especially rumination and catastrophizing. Conclusion : These findings suggest that somatic pain correlates with maladaptive cognitive emotional regulating strategies. Interventions which modulate these non-productive strategies, especially rumination and catastrophizing, would be a new approach for managing patients with depressive and/or anxiety disorders who are suffering from somatic pain.

일본(日本)의 임목육종(林木育種) 및 삼림경영연구동향(森林經營硏究動向) (The Tendency of Scientific Research of Tree Improvement and Forest Management in Japan)

  • The direction of scientific researches on tree improvement and forest management in several universities and research institutes in Japan can be summarized as follows: They put a great emphasis on sugi, Cryptomeria japonica and cypress, Chamaecyparus oblusa which are two major conifer species largerly planted in the Japanese forestry. In the research of sugi, a great concern has been made in evaluating inheritance of forest tree, quantitative characters and genetic parameter of growth, and in breeding for resistance to diseases and insects and to all the natural calamities. Interaction between environmental conditions and genetic nature of tree can be concerned factors in relation with forest damage, together with silvicultural conditions and pest infestation. Selfing hybrids of $F_1$ made from crossing twisted-leaf sugi, defomity leaf type and midori sugi, normal leaf type segregated the normal needle, twisted needle, green leaf and albino leaf type. It seemed that separation of many defomity individuals can be governed by two dominant complementary genes and from the near loci of which it was detected lethal genes. 52% of Japanese forestry is occupied by the small forest landowners like Korean forestry. This made difficulty for forest improvement such as progressive afforestation and for capital accumulation form forestry. The Forest Corporation was established at first in 1959 to aming at productive forestry structure and forest management, and afforestation. For these purpose, 35 Forest Corporations are at moment operating throughout Japan. However, investment in forestry business becomes less attractive since the wage in forest production duction increased in higher trend. than timber price. Therefore, an artifical afforestation becomes yearly decreased. At present. the self-sufficient rate of timber production in Japan is about 35%, and so a great effort is being made to increase self-sufficient rate of timber production.

생산함수를 이용한 농업용수 관개량과 벼 생산성간 관계 평가 (Relationship Assessment on Amount of Irrigation Water & Productivity of Rice by Production Function)

  • BACKGROUND: Production function gives the equation that shows the relationship between the quantities of productive factors used and the amount of product obtained, and can answer a variety of questions. This study was carried out to evaluate the relationship between irrigation water used for rice production and rice productivity by the production function which shows the mathematical relation between input and output. METHODS AND RESULTS: The statistical data on rice production and on the amount of irrigation water were used for the production function analysis. The analysis period was separated for 1966-1981 and 1982-2011, based on goal's change on agriculture from 'increasing food' to 'complex farming'. The relation between irrigation and yield considering production function is a short-term production function both before and after 1982. These results can be expressed by the sigmoid relation. When comparing the graphs of the two analyzed periods, there are differences in quantity between the maximum point and the minimum point during the same analysis period, which can be called an 'Irrigation Effect' by the difference of irrigation, and 'Technical Effect' by the difference by inputs like as fertilizers etc. CONCLUSION: The results could be useful as information for assessing the relationship between agricultural water and the productivity of rice and predicting rice productivity by irrigation water in Korea.

모니터 영상을 통한 원격제어 임업용 장비의 원목상차작업 생산성 (Timber Loading Productivity of Remote Controlled Forestry Equipment Through Image of Monitor)

  • Forest operations like timber harvesting have already been mechanized to reduce hazards to the worker and increase productivity. However, timber harvesting operations have still been considered potentially dangerous and expensive on steep terrain. Teleoperation, to control the timber harvesting machine at a distance, has the potential to improve the safety, productivity and efficiency of harvesting operations on steep terrain. To verify the effects of teleoperation, an experimental prototype system of a monitor image-based teleoperation was constructed using a real forestry machine. In this study, the productivity of excavator based grapple loader, which is one of the most used mechanized harvesting equipment in the timber production, was analyzed using time-study method. Factors like skill and age of operators, influencing loader productivity in timber loading operation were also evaluated by statistical analysis. Productivity analysis results showed that less experienced operators were more productive than experienced operators for teleoperation through image of monitors in the operator cabin. These results are shown to be unfamiliar to the monitor image and different loading operation pattern by operators. According to the results, the monitor image-based teleoperation system of forestry machine need to improve the resolution and installation position of camera. It was expected that additional studies will be needed for real-time remote control of forestry machine in the future.

내러티브 탐구를 통한 초등 교과서에 수록된 한국 발명가 3인의 창의성 요소, 가정환경, 부모 양육방식 특징 분석 (An Analysis of Creativity Factors, Family Backgrounds and Parenting Styles of Korean 3 Inventors in Korean Elementary Textbooks through Narrative Inquiry)

  • 여러 연구에 따르면 발명 교육은 학생들의 창의력과 문제 해결력 향상과 밀접한 관계가 있다. 이러한 능력은 미래 사회에 필수적인 능력이므로, 이러한 능력을 개발하기 위한 효과적인 발명 교육이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 내러티브 탐구를 통해 초등학교 교과서에 등장하는 3명의 한국 발명가의 창의성 요소, 가정환경, 부모 양육 방식을 특정하고, 3명의 공통점을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 3명의 발명가들은 모두 지적 호기심, 독창성, 생산적 사고능력, 정교성을 가지고 있었다. 그리고 이들은 대부분 경제적으로 풍요로운 가정에서 태어났고, 자신을 지지해주는 사람이 있었다. 또한 이들은 부모들은 자녀와 안정적인 애착 관계를 가졌고, 자녀의 교육에 적극적으로 참여하며 자녀의 창의성을 가장 먼저 발견하였다.

  • 우리 지질학 분야에서 일어난 학술 토의 일부를 소개하고 그 결과에 대한 필자의 의견을 제시한다. 옥천층군, 묘곡층 그리고 제주도 사람 발자국의 시대에 관한 것 그리고 일부 언론의 오보에 관하여 저자의 의견을 제시한다. 학문은 어느 분야나 다양한 의견들 사이에 논쟁과 토의를 통해 발전한다. 건전한 토의는 학문의 발전을 위해 필요한 것이다. 우리가 과학사에서 익히 알고 있는 다윈의 "종의 기원"에 대한 찬반 논쟁, 베게너의 "대륙이동설"이 발표된 이후의 과학자들 사이의 논쟁은 유명하다. 학술 논쟁이나 토의에서 먼저 고려해야 할 점은 어떠한 형태로든 권위가 개입되어서는 안 된다는 사실이다. 그리고 개인적 감정이나 학문 외적 요인들이 섞여서도 안 된다. 과학을 비롯한 학문은 어디까지나 진실의 바탕 위에서 행해져야 한다. 반대론자들은 합리적 이론에 근거해서 대안을 제시하면서 논리적 전개로 이의를 제기해야 한다. 기존 연구에 대한 진지한 검토 없이 즉흥적인 반대는 진실 접근에 도움이 되지 않는다. 과학적 사실을 보도함에 있어서 신속 보도도 중요하지만 좀 더 신중하게 보도해야 하고 오보가 생겼을 경우 즉시 이 사실을 독자들에게 알려야 한다. 이는 언론의 신뢰도를 위해 반드시 실현되어야 한다.

Genomic insights of S. aureus associated with bovine mastitis in a high livestock activity region of Mexico

  • Importance: Bovine mastitis, predominantly associated with gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus, poses a significant threat to dairy cows, leading to a decline in milk quality and volume with substantial economic implications. Objective: This study investigated the incidence, virulence, and antibiotic resistance of S. aureus associated with mastitis in dairy cows. Methods: Fifty milk-productive cows underwent a subclinical mastitis diagnosis, and the S. aureus strains were isolated. Genomic DNA extraction, sequencing, and bioinformatic analysis were performed, supplemented by including 124 S. aureus genomes from cows with subclinical mastitis to enhance the overall analysis. Results: The results revealed a 42% prevalence of subclinical mastitis among the cows tested. Genomic analysis identified 26 sequence types (STs) for all isolates, with Mexican STs belonging primarily to CC1 and CC97. The analyzed genomes exhibited multidrug resistance to phenicol, fluoroquinolone, tetracycline, and cephalosporine, which are commonly used as the first line of treatment. Furthermore, a similar genomic virulence repertoire was observed across the genomes, encompassing the genes related to invasion, survival, pathogenesis, and iron uptake. In particular, the toxic shock syndrome toxin (tss-1) was found predominantly in the genomes isolated in this study, posing potential health risks, particularly in children. Conclusion and Relevance: These findings underscore the broad capacity for antibiotic resistance and pathogenicity by S. aureus, compromising the integrity of milk and dairy products. The study emphasizes the need to evaluate the effectiveness of antibiotics in combating S. aureus infections.
