Malignant mesothelioma is an uncommon but rapidly fatal disease for which the principal aetiological agent is exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma is of particular significance in Australia where asbestos use was very widespread from the 1950s until the 1980s. Exposure to asbestos includes occupational exposure associated with working with asbestos or in workplaces where asbestos is used and also 'take-home' exposure of family members of asbestos exposed workers. Asbestos exposure may also be nonoccupational, occurring as a consequence of using asbestos products in non-occupational contexts and passive exposure is also possible, such as exposure to asbestos products in the built environment or proximity to an environmental source of exposure, for example an asbestos production plant. The extremely long latency period for this disease makes exposure assessment problematic in the context of a mesothelioma registry. OccIDEAS, a recently developed online tool for retrospective exposure assessment, has been adapted for use in the Australian Mesothelioma Registry (AMR) to enable systematic retrospective exposure assessment of consenting cases. Twelve occupational questionnaire modules and one non-occupational module have been developed for the AMR, which form the basis of structured interviews using OccIDEAS, which also stores collected data and provides a framework for generating metrics of exposure.
In this paper, we design a helical fin structure for the heat sink for a high-power LED lighting module, and analyze its thermal properties. By means of the helical fin structure, we can obtain about 14% larger surface area for the limited volume and it can decrease the LED chip temperature by about 12%. Because this helical fin heat sink has 15% less total volume than a conventional one, we can also expect to reduce the production cost due to these structural properties.
Recently, the mass production of Energy storage system (ESS) is actively perform around world. Energy storage system is a technique that stores power to energy storage device to supply energy into grid and load at peak-load. Therefore, the efficient energy management is available by using ESS system. The life of Lithium-ion battery is varied corresponding to the power usage, especially selected depth of discharge (DOD). The lifetime of battery is the one of the most issue of the ESS system because of its stability and reliability. Therefore, lifetime management of battery and power converter of ESS module is required. In this paper, the battery lifetime management method estimating residual power and lifetime of lithium ion battery of ESS system is proposed. Also, total avenue prediction of ESS system is simulated considering the total lifetime of battery.

Recently, novel MEMS probe cards can support reliable wafer level chip test with high density probing capacity. However, manufacturing cost and process complexity are crucial weak points for low cost mass production. To overcome these limitations, we have developed micro spring structured MEMS probe card. For fabrication of micro spring module, a wire bonder and electrolytic polished gold wires are used. In this case, stringent tension force control is essential to guarantee the low level contact resistance of micro spring for reliable probing performance. For this, relation between tension force of fabricated probe card and contact resistance is characterized. Compare to conventional probe cards, developed MEMS probe card requires fewer fabrication steps and it can be manufactured with lower cost than other MEMS probe cards. Also, due to the small contact scratch patterns, we expect that it can be applied to bumping types chip test which require higher probing density.

Modular design is a very important design methodology that allows designers to develop a product family at low product development and production cost. This design methodology is also very powerful for products that require frequent design changes due to customer requirements. Most research on modular design is focused on the modularization based on functional decomposition, physical interface and manufacturing process of parts. In this paper, we propose a modularization method that takes size of human body parts into consideration for products which have physical interactions with the products such as office chairs and sport machines. Evaluation of modular design is based on dependence measurement between every pair of components in the design. In addition we proposed a module sizing method for the maximization of customer satisfaction in MC(Mass Customization) environment.
The cowl cross bar of an automobile is a frame component that is installed inside the cockpit module to provide a guide surface, to which functional components for electricity and air condition are attached. In the recent years, the geometries of cowl cross bars are getting more complex in order to meet the demands of a wide variety of embedded functional components and the reduced weight of frame parts with enhanced mechanical and noise/vibration characteristics. There for, welding processes between tubes with different diameters are widely conducted while the welded parts are experiencing various problems such as undermined appearance, low production efficiency and poor mechanical characteristics. Therefore, this paper seeks to develop an one-piece forming process which eliminate welding process for the cowl cross bar by applying the tube drawing process. However, it was predicted that a conventional tube drawing can not be applied directly to the current part since the area reduction ratio of the drawing process reaches 51.7% which exceeds the general limiting value. Therefore, in this study, a combined drawing process which adds a compressive force to a tensile force of the conventional drawing process was proposed and 2-stage drawing process was designed by using CAE analyses. In addition, drawing tryouts were carried out by using the manufactured combined drawing machine in order to verify the designed process.

In recent years, a miniature spectrometer has been extensively developed due to the marriage of fiber optics and semiconductor detector array. This type of miniature spectrometer has advantages of low price and robustness due to the capability of mass production and no moving parts are required such as lenses, mirrors and scanning monochromator. These systems are ideal for use in teaching labs, process monitoring and field analyses. A portable near infrared (NIR) system has been developed for qualitative and quantitative analysis. This system includes a tungsten halogen lamp for light source, a fiber optics connected a light source, and a sample module to the microspectrometer, The size of spectrometer can be as small as 2.5 cm x 1.5 cm x 0.1 cm. Wavelength ranges can be chosen as 360-800 nm, 800-1100 nm and 1100-1900 nm depending on the type of detector. The software consists of various tools for multivariate analysis and pattern recognition techniques. To evaluate the system, long and short-term stability, wavelength accuracy, and stray light have been investigated and compared with conventional scanning type NIR spectrometer. This developed system can be sufficiently used for quantitative and qualitative analysis for various samples such as agricultural product, herbal medicine, food, petroleum, and pharmaceuticals, etc.
As the existing paradigm of consumption has changed, companies have been actively engaged in targeting culture-oriented emotion, creating added values through appealing to customers' emotion and improving the values of culture and art. Each company has created differentiated space and inner space to lead trends, and has provided space for various experiences as an innovative marketing area to attract customers and promote consumption. In this aspect, we should focus on space marketing which considers cultural background or emotion as a main target Therefore, this study selected a cultural program as a strategic means to identify space marketing in terms of experience. The study speculated marketing in terms of space experience and analysed space for cultural programs with differentiated experiences in order to use the results as basic data for identifying the marketing values of the cultural programs and their uses. The results of the study are presented as follows: when space experience is a factor of marketing and the cultural program is a tactic in terms of marketing, their specific relations are speculated through a certain module. The order of using the cultural program for space experience, features of space representation and tactics for experience were different and the strategies evoked very complicated and mixed experiences.
Conventionally, ornament has developed around linear thinking based on Euclidean geometry, and been explained as simple and lucid natural Euclidean geometrical phenomena. The modular arrangement with vertical, horizontal and diagonal grids has been an organizing principle of classical ornament, but in digital era ornament is found not to be explained only with the principle of traditional arrangement due to the seemingly irregular complex forms. In that sense, this study presents the concept of digital ornament and examined the backgrounds of ornament in digital age, that are complex system and non-Euclidean geometry. Accordingly, the present study takes an approach by dividing new formal types of ornament into algorithmic form, hybrid form and dynamic form to find out a principle of pattern organization. Lately, architects who actively use computer for their architectural designs take the algorithmic strategies in nature and create various and complex patterns by simple rules. The patterns are not the repetition of the same, but the production of singularities. In addition, hybrid form by morphing shows a topologically flexible evolutionary transformation, and is used to create in-between transitional shapes from the source to target. Finally, the patterns by the interaction between the system components which are corresponded to the embedded forces emerge from dynamic simulation of the natural environment. Rather than objects itself, focus is given to the process of generating forms, and the ornamental patterns as the revelation of such implicit order provide not just the formal beauty but also spatial pathways for lights and air, maximizing the effects of lights.

The present study examined the effects of Tween 80 on the attachment and hydrolytic activity of a cellulase enzyme against ball-milled cellulose (BMC), using the whole component (native CBH I) and the catalysis module (core CBH I) of carbohydrolase I purified from Trichoderma viride (Meicelase, Meiji Seika, Tokyo, Japan). The effects were evaluated as protein concentrations in the supernatant after mixing enzyme and substrate with Tween 80 at room temperature. Tween 80 decreased the adsorption of native CBH I and core CBH I onto BMC (p<0.001) and increased the amount of reducing sugars released from BMC by native CBH I (p<0.001). However, Tween 80 did not enhance the hydrolytic activity of core CBH I. Observations using SEM revealed that Tween 80 caused cellulose filter paper to swell and enhanced surface cracks and filaments caused by native CBH I but not by core CBH I. These results suggested that Tween 80 decreases enzyme adsorption to its substrate but enhances enzymatic activity.
