  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that influence safety rule violation at work. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 337 participants from nine manufacturing plants. The results of the content analysis revealed the following six categories: Individual characteristics, safety commitment, safety support and resources, safety competence and communication, production pressure, and problems with rules. Among the 14 factors in the six categories above, indirect accident experience in the individual characteristics category and no action for complying with laws in the problems with rules category had not been identified in previous studies. However, some factors, such as age, peer pressure, pay type, the lowering of risk, a masculine way of working, and supervisor position were not found in this study. The implications and limitations are discussed.

  • This paper addresses the effects of an imperfect production process on the optimal production quantity and quality inspection policies. The system is assumed to deteriorate during the production process. The result are either the production of a number of defective items or the breakdown of the production meachine. A simple rule has been suggested to determine whether multiple quality in spection is workth or not. Furthermore, when multiple inspection policy is adopted, the optimal in spection schedule is shown to be equally spaced throughout the production cycle. Exact solution and approximation of the optimal production quantity and approximation of the optimal number of inspection are provided. Finally , to better understand the model of this paper, comparisons between this model and classical EMQ model are provided.

  • This paper considers a two-stage make-to-stock production system. The first stage produces a single-component and the second stage produces a make-to-stock product using components. In addition to internal demands, the first stage faces external demands with the option of accepting or rejecting. To ration component inventory, the manufacturer adopts a static rule. This paper analyzes the production controls at both facilities that maximizes the manufacturer's profit. Using the Markov decision process model, we characterize the optimal production policy by two monotonic switching curves.

  • The numerous changes made during the Japanese colonial rule became the basis of the current housing in Korea. Therefore, in order to understand the modern Korean housing, it is essential to understand what the Korean traditional life styles admitted or changed, and how the foreign culture of that time influenced the Korean housing under the Japanese colonial rule. Content analysis through literature review was utilized for the study, and specific sources were research papers, books, magazines, newspapers, and novels. The period during the Japanese invasion was the most active era of modernization in the Korean history. For the housing culture, especially, it can be considered as the most significant period that accepted new housing cultures that replaced the old traditional housing. The Japanese and the Western styles of housing were introduced, new materials and collective production methods were used, and the symbol of the current urban housing in Korea, multi-family dwelling, was constructed. In conclusion, the Koreans did not directly use the Japanese and western housing culture, which were constructed during the Japanese colonial period. They were adapted and altered into Korean style, and eventually, produced various eclectic housing styles.

  • The main two applications of the Genetic Algorithms(GA) are the optimization and the machine learning. Machine Learning has two objectives that make the complex system learn its environment and produce the proper output of a system. The machine learning using the Genetic Algorithms is called GA machine learning or genetic-based machine learning (GBML). The machine learning is different from the optimization problems in finding the rule set. In optimization problems, the population of GA should converge into the best individual because optimization problems, the population of GA should converge into the best individual because their objective is the production of the individual near the optimal solution. On the contrary, the machine learning systems need to find the set of cooperative rules. There are two methods in GBML, Michigan method and Pittsburgh method. The former is that each rule is expressed with a string, the latter is that the set of rules is coded into a string. Th classifier system of Holland is the representative model of the Michigan method. The classifier systems arrange the strength of classifiers of classifier list using the message list. In this method, the real time process and on-line learning is possible because a set of rule is adjusted on-line. A classifier system has three major components: Performance system, apportionment of credit system, rule discovery system. In this paper, we solve the food search problem with the learning and evolution of an artificial ant using the learning classifier system.

  • Overlap Errors and side-lobes have been simultaneously solved by the rule-based correction using the rules extracted from test patterns. Lithography process parameters affecting attPSM lithography process have been determined by the fitting method to the real process data. The correction using scattering bars has been compared to the Cr shield method. The optimal insertion rule of the scattering bal's has made it possible to suppress the side-lobes and to enhance DOF at the same time. Therefore, in this paper, the solution to both side-lobe and overlap Error has been proposed using rule-based confection. Compared to the existing Cr shield method, the proposed rule-based correction with scattering bars can reduce the process complexity and time for mask production.

  • Objective of the research is to put the vast and complex fault tracking knowledge of human experts in semiconductor production line into the knowledge base of computer system. We mined the fault tracking knowledge of domain experts(engineers of production line) for the construction of knowledge base of the expert system. Object oriented fact models which increase the extensibility and reusability have been built. The rules are designed to perform the fault diagnosis of the items in production device. We have exploited the evidence accumulation method to assign check priority in rules. The major contribution is in the overall design and implementation of the nile base and related facts of the expert system in object oriented paradigm for the application of the system in fault diagnosis in semiconductor production line.

  • Lean production system can be defined as customer(product)-oriented production system with small lot size and flow-shop layout based on the JIT(Just-in-time) principles. In this paper, we introduce a case example of implementation of the Lean product ion system for manufacturing line of electronic component which has both machine processes and manual jobs. We also investigate the issues of implementing the Lean production system with the viewpoints of layout design scheme and JIT management rules. In the layout design, we propose the cell-line which has flow-shop layout with small lot size. In the management rules, the superior cell rule is applied in order to boost the needs of kaisen up. As the results of implementing the Lean production system, production lead time is decreased from 5 days to 1.5 days and also productivity and quality level arc surprisingly increased.

  • Gu$\acute{e}$ret et al. tries to obtain the solution using linear programming with $O(m^4)$ time complexity for cane sugar production problem a kind of bin packing problem that is classified as NP-complete problem. On the other hand, this paper suggests the maximum loss of lot first production greedy rule algorithm with O(mlogm) polynomial time complexity underlying assumption of the polynomial time rule to find the solution is exist. The proposed algorithm sorts the lots of sugar loss slope into descending order. Then, we select the lots for each slot production capacity only, and swap the exhausted life span of lots for lastly selected lots. As a result of experiments, this algorithm reduces the $O(m^4)$ of linear programming to O(mlogm) time complexity. Also, this algorithm better result than linear programming.

  • This paper investigates the influence of the Korean phonology on the production of English words including a stop plus nasal sequence through production experiments with a beginner and an advanced group of Korean English learners. The results of the production experiments show that both the beginner and the advanced group of Korean English learners were under the influence of the Korean phonological rule realizing a stop as a nasal before a nasal when they pronounced a stop plus nasal sequences in English words. The extent of L1 interference was greater in the beginner group than in the advanced group.
