Purpose: This study examined marketing value as online word-of-mouth media in the foodservice industry, and it did research on online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) communication marketing schemes using mass communication in the industry. The study is also intended to investigate the impact of electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) information and communication on product awareness risks, benefits, and word-of-mouth (WOM) impacts on restaurant consumers. Research design, data, and methodology: The analysis was conducted on a valid questionnaire of 425 menu product consumers. The survey was conducted for two months in March 2019. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS and hierarchical regression analysis was applied. Results: It did empirical research on the reciprocal casual relations to online and the existing word-of-mouth communication that have to be preceded to understand characteristics of online word-of-mouth communication for the purpose of this study. The result is summarized as follows. First, the online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) effect on product recognition risk shows the statistically significant effect of information sender characteristics, information recipient characteristics, and online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) communication on product recognition risk. Second, the influence of online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) on product risk benefits shows that the information sender characteristics, the information receiver characteristics, and online communications have a statistically significant effect on product risk benefits. Third, online word of mouth risk recognition had a statistically significant effect on word of mouth acceptance. Fourth, online risk benefit had a statistically significant positive effect on word of mouth (WOM) effect. Conclusions: The communication between online word of mouth (e-WOM) sender and recipient had a positive influence on the product evaluation and attitude change in the foodservice industry, and the word-of-mouth (WOM) effect affected financial and non-financial performance. The results mentioned above indicated that the communication between the sender of the information and the receiver of the information had a positive effect on the product evaluation and attitude change of the menu consumer, and the word-of-mouth (WOM) result affected the financial. Therefore, the online word-of-mouth (e-WOM) effect has a positive effect on the word-of-mouth (WOM) effect of menu products when performed simultaneously and positively between the information sender and the information receiver.
When evaluating the performance of a NPD(New Product Development) project, it is common to evaluate the project performance according to the achievement of the planned goal in terms of time, quality and cost management, which are usually three main constraints of the project. The evaluation of the financial factors by which sales contributed to the return of the company is more influential. This is why companies need to increase sales and raise profits. Therefore, it is more reasonable to evaluate the sales performance of NPD projects over a certain period of time against the input costs. At this time, we can analyze the causes of inefficient projects and compare them with other projects and find out how to improve the sales performance to help the company increase its competitiveness. In this paper, we analyze the relative efficiency of the sales performance on the input of the projects by using the actual sales in the period of one year after mass production of the NPD projects of 'S' company in ICT industry. Input factors include developer resource and development cost for the NPD reported after the project has been completed, the delay weeks for the schedule targeted at the project planning stage, and the number of quality issues due to development design faults during initial mass-production. The sales figure and the contribution margin of the product after one year from the start of mass production are defined as the output factors. In this paper, we analyze the efficiency of the projects by using data envelope analysis (DEA). As a result, we found out the reason of the inefficient project of DMUs according to the differences in the characteristics of the efficient and inefficient B2B markets based on the result of DEA of NPD projects. Thus, the goal of this paper is to identify strategies for improving sales performance of NPD projects in inefficient markets.
This study was designed to validate Spreading Activation Theory (SAT) for an evaluation methodology for menu structure through Eye-Tracking approach. When a visual search is on the way, more eye fixations and time are necessary to visually process complex and vague area. From the aspect of recognition, well-designed menu structures were hypothesized to have fewer numbers of fixations and shorter duration because well-designed menu structures reflecting the users' mental model would be well matched with the product's menu structure, resulting in reducing the number of fixations and duration time. The results show that the shorter reaction times for SAT had significantly fewer numbers of fixation and shorter duration time as the hypothesis for this study stated. In conclusion, SAT was proved to be an effective evaluation methodology for menu structure with the eye tracking equipment. In addition, using SAT instead of the real performance experiment would be useful for designing user-centered systems and convenient information structures because SAT was proven to be the theoretical background for design and evaluation of menu structures.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects on reliability of equipment or product which spends a great deal of its time in the dormant condition. Many systems experienced periods of dormancy throughout their life cycle, such as periods of operational storage where the system waits, ready for use. The design of such systems must account for how these period of dormant effects system performance. The methodology for predict and analysis was developed to support the evaluation of dormant modes of operation of systems and subsystems. For proper handling of the dormant environment, issues relating to dormant failures need to be taken into consideration from design stage of the lifecycle. Furthermore, the relevant environmental concerns that need to be taken into consideration depend on the environmental factors associated with each different target environment. This paper will look at dormant reliability, the possible dormant reliability models and the methodology on life cycle reliability which has different dormant phase.
Though a reactive distillation column reduces energy requirement and gives easy separation of azeotropic mixture to result in wide practical applications in field, its design is difficult. On the other hand, a commercial design software used largely in chemical process design and performance evaluation can solve the problem, but the addition of reaction into the tray is not simple. In this study the addition is implemented to make the process simulation available, and it is utilized in the design of a TAME process to find the following design guidelines. The addition of reactive trays gives more composition elevation than the composition decrease from the reduction of the trays, and the increase of non-reactive trays does not improve product quality. The elevation of reboiler heat duty lowers the product quality by the reduction of residence time in reactive tray and conversion.

Portable communication devices such as laptop computers suffer impact-induced failure in their usage. Drop/impact performance of these products is one of important concerns of product design. Because of the small size of this kind of electronics products, it is very expensive, time-consuming and difficult to conduct drop tests to directly detect the failure mechanism and identify their drop behaviors. Finite element analysis provides a vital, powerful vehicle to solve the problems. The models are created with HYPERMESH, and the analysis is carried out with LS-DYNA3D. The analysis is focused on HDD impact behavior in acceleration peak values.

Universal design is defined as the design process of products and environments usable by all people to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design. The benefits of universal design have been promoted primarily through illustrative 'success stories' of public, residential and occupational environments and products. While case examples may be informative, they may unfortunately be limited in terms of generality to other designs or tasks. Therefore, design methods and criteria that can be applied systematically in a range of situations to encourage universal design are needed. In addition, the seven principles of universal design are intended to guide the design process. The principles provide a framework that allows a systematic evaluation of new or existing designs and assists in educating both designers and consumers about the characteristics of more usable products and environments. However, exactly how these principles are incorporated into the design process has beenleft up to the designer. Since the introduction of universal design, designers have become familiar with the principles of universal design, and they have developed many products based on universal design. However, the principles of universal design are qualitative, which means designers cannot quantitatively evaluate their designs. Some have worked to develop more systematic ways to evaluate products and environments by providing design guidelines for each of the principles. However, recommendations have not yet been made regarding how to integrate performance measures of universal design into the product design process before the product is mass produced. Furthermore, there are sets of requirements regarding each user group that has different age and ability. Consequently, there is an urgent need for design methods, based on a better understanding of age and ability related factors, which will lead to a universally designed product or environment. The authors have proposed the PSD (Preference Set-Based Design) method that can generate a ranged set of feasible solutions (i.e., robust and flexible solution set) instead of single point solution that satisfies changing sets of design targets. The objective of this paper is to develop a general method for systematically supporting the universal design process. This paper proposes the applicability of PSD method to universal design. Here, the proposed method is successfully illustrated with a universal design problem.

Mixed-model production lines are often used in manufacturing systems. In production lines, different product types are simultaneously manufactured by processing small batches. This paper describes a new welding assembly technology involving the development of experimental models for a mixed-model production line in an automobile company. Due to the extensive number of models, the design of a welding assembly system is complicated. Performance evaluation is an important phase in the design of welding assembly lines in a mixed-model production environment. In this study, a new welding assembly technology for a mixed-model production method was used to weld the package tray and dash panel of a vehicle.

Anti-shock performance is one of the most important design specifications of TFT-LCD modules. Since they are adopted fur major display units of many mobile applications such as lap-top PCs, cellular phones, and palm pilots, they are able to accommodate and endure high level transient mechanical energy inputs. For the reasons, not only the LCD unit manufacturers but their customers like PC makers perform a series of strict impact/drop test on the units. Currently, designers are mostly relying on their own trial-error based experience for the anti-shock design. Thus those designs depending on only experience may result in disqualification from the drop/impact test during final product evaluation. Those shock failures of any new designs are prohibitive for both LCD and PC manufacturers. In order to avoid this problem, many designers are focusing on the development of computer-aided design tools that is directly connected to shock simulation capabilities and then shock-proof design cycle time could be significantly reduced. Development of an integrated CAE system for the shock-proof design is presented in this article. At every stages of the development of present work, practical industrial applicability and mass production feasibility are seriously considered and tested so that the system is to be used in the LCD design engineering field.
