The Influence of the Silica Contents for High Temperature Strength for Single Crystal Casting Mold of Superalloys (초합금 단결정 주조용 주형의 실리카 함량에 따른 고온강도 영향)

  • In the vacuum casting process for superalloys, molten metal are poured into the heated ceramic mold up to $1000^{\circ}C~1700^{\circ}C$. The mold has to have the high temperature strength during casting and made by hlgh purity alumina. In this sturdy, the mold was made by low purity alumina and changed silica contents intended to have high strength The 7.7wt.% SiOz specimens have 10- 55% higher strength than others in room and high temp. Therefore, the cast mold has been developed in this study for single crystal vacuum cast by controlling the ratio of fused alumina and colloidal silica which are used commercially for conventional casting in industries.

  • This study were carried out sulfation roasting and selective leaching test for the effective recovery of copper component in concentrate obtained by froth floatation of Autrallian low grade copper ore. The optimum conditions of sulfation roasting were temp. $450^{\circ}C$, $Na_2SO_4$ 2 mole ratio and time 1.5 h, and then selective leaching were room temperature and $H_2O$ or 1M $H_2SO_4$ solutions. Leaching efficiency of optimum sulfation product were 90 wt.% of copper, 20 wt.% of iron and 15wt.% of nickel elements. In this results, it was possible to selective decomposition leaching of the copper component under optimum conditions in this research.

  • Skarn at the Dielette formed largely in calc-silicate hornfels at the contact with the Flamanville granite. The skarn consists mainly of garnet and pyroxene, and less frequently vesuvianite. Traversing toward calc-silicate hornfels wall rock from a central zone of the skarn, the general sequence of formation of mineral assemblages is: (1) dark brown garnet (2) pale brown garnet-vesuvianite-pyroxene, and (3) pyroxene-prehnite-scapolite-wollastonite envelopes (designated as transition zone) developed between skarn and calc-silicate hornfels. The central zone of the skarn consists mainly of dark brown garnets (garnet I) that contain little or no pyroxene. The pale brown garnet (garnet II) is associated with pyroxene and vesuvianite. The sequence of these garnets results from the zonal growth outward. There is an abrupt discontinuity in composition between garnet I formed in early stage and garnet II in late stage, while each garnet shows relatively uniform composition. At the zone in contact with the granite, the iron contents of garnets decrease toward the marginal zone of the skarn, from an average value of 36 mole % andradite in garnet I to 18 mole % andradite in garnet II. At the zone distant from the granite, the andradite component decreases from 28 mole % in garnet 1 to 19 mole % in garnet II. The variation of the iron contents of pyroxenes is also similar to that of garnets. The sharp discontinuity in composition of garnets and pyroxenes suggests that the skarn of study area was formed by infiltration metasomatic process. The results of the analyses of mineral assemblages of the transition zone by chemical potential diagrams suggest that the transition zone was made by the diffusion of the elements Ca, K and Fe from the skarn to the calc-silicate hornfels contact zone. The estimated temperatures and $Xco_2$ for the formation of the transition zone show $300^{\circ}C$$440^{\circ}C$ and $0.07{\pm}0.05<Xco_2<0.02{\pm}0.01$ at 1 Kb respectively.

An Experimental Study for Dryer (건조기 고안 제작에 관한 연구)

  • A newly devised dryer with heated air for the farm products, especially suited for high water content materials such as red pepper, Beer ground, each Vegetables, and Low water content materials such as Rough rice was tested for its thermal efficiency and drying mechanism, and the optimum conditions for each sample were established. In order to improve the present rural situation of drying farm products which entirely dependent upon natural solar radiation, a study upon an economic multi-parpose dryer was conducted. A series of drying tests were run first with red pepper which is one of the important cash crop in Korean farm. And successive series of tests were also run with such proaucts as garlic, sweet potatoes, green onion, radish, Beer ground and Rough rice. The results from the above experiment in drying system with heat dryer can be summarized as follows. 1. Drying duration could be shortened by the tempering effect in high water content crop such as red pepper and beer ground. 2. The color changes occured in around 20% water content in red pepper. The degree of color change was heavily affected by high temperature and short drying duration. 3. The drying condition of red pepper was most favourable at the temperature of 85$^{\circ}C$ in early stage and 80$^{\circ}C$ in middle stage and 75$^{\circ}C$ at the final stage, and with the air rate of 0.81㎥/sec and with sample amount of 200kg. 4. The drying condition of Rough rice(I.R.667) was most favourable at the templature of 40$^{\circ}C$ in early stage and 35$^{\circ}C$ in middle stage and final stage and with the air rate of 0.2㎥/sec and with sample amount of 75kg. 5. In order to prevent the color change of red pepper and to assure high efficiency in drying mechanism, it was necessary to lower the temperature as the time passes in drying process. 6. For vege tables, the drying rate were short in early stage and there was also tempering effect. However, for garlics, Constant drying rates through the early and final stages were observed and there were no tempering effects. 7. Forecast Sensitivity to Observations for High-Impact Weather Events in the Korean Peninsula (한반도에 발생한 위험 기상 사례에 대한 관측 민감도 분석)

  • Recently, the number of observations used in a data assimilation system is increasing due to the enormous amount of observations, including satellite data. However, it is not clear that all of these observations are always beneficial to the performance of the numerical weather prediction (NWP). Therefore, it is important to evaluate the effect of observations on these forecasts so that the observations can be used more usefully in NWP process. In this study, the adjoint-based Forecast Sensitivity to Observation (FSO) method with the KMA Unified Model (UM) is applied to two high-impact weather events which occurred in summer and winter in Korea in an effort to investigate the effects of observations on the forecasts of these events. The total dry energy norm is used as a response function to calculate the adjoint sensitivity. For the summer case, TEMP observations have the greatest total impact while BOGUS shows the greatest impact per observation for all of the 24-, 36-, and 48-hour forecasts. For the winter case, aircraft, ATOVS, and ESA have the greatest total impact for the 24-, 36-, and 48-hour forecasts respectively, while ESA has the greatest impact per observation. Most of the observation effects are horizontally located upwind or in the vicinity of the Korean peninsula. The fraction of beneficial observations is less than 50%, which is less than the results in previous studies. As an additional experiment, the total moist energy norm is used as a response function to measure the sensitivity of 24-hour forecast error to observations. The characteristics of the observation impact with the moist energy response function are generally similar to those with the dry energy response function. However, the ATOVS observations were found to be sensitive to the response function, showing a positive (a negative) effect on the forecast when using the dry (moist) norm for the summer case. For the winter case, the dry and moist energy norm experiments show very similar results because the adjoint of KMA UM does not calculate the specific humidity of ice properly such that the dry and moist energy norms are very similar except for the humidity in air that is very low in winter.

Predictive Model Selection of Disinfection by-products (DBPs) in D Water Treatment Plant (D 정수장 소독부산물 예측모델 선정)

  • For D-WTP's sedimentation basin and distribution reservoir, and water tap the predictive models proposed tentatively herein included the models for estimating TTHM concentration in precipitated water, for treated water and for tap water, and the estimated correlation formula between treated water's TTHM concentration and tap water. As for TTHM-concentration predictive model in sedimentation water, the coefficient of determination is 0.866 for best-fitted short-term $DOC{\times}UV_{254}$ based Model (TTHM). As for $HAA_5$-concentration predictive model in sedimentation water, the coefficient of determination is 0.947 for the suitable $UV_{254}$-based model ($HAA_5$). In case of the predictive model in treated water, the coefficient of determination is 0.980 for best-fitted $DOC{\times}UV_{254}$ based model (TTHM) using coagulated waters, while the coefficient of determination is 0.983 for best-fitted $DOC{\times}UV_{254}$ based model ($HAA_5$) using coagulated waters, which described the $HAA_5$ concentration well. However, the predictive model for tap water could not be compatible with the one for treated water, only except for possibility inducing correlation formula for prediction, [i.e., the correlation formula between TTHM concentration and tap water was verified as TTHM (tap water) = $1.162{\times}TTHM$ (treated water), while $HAA_5$ (tap water) = $0.965{\times}HAA_5$ (treated water).] The correlation analysis between DOC and $KMnO_4$ consumption by process resulted in higher relationship with filtrated water, showing that its regression is $DOC=0.669{\times}KMnO_4$ consumption - 0.166 with 0.689 of determination coefficient. By substituting it to the existing DOC-based model ($HAA_5$) for treated water, the consequential model formula was made as follows; $HAA_5=8.35(KMnO_4\;consumption{\times}0.669-0.166)^{0.701}(Cl_2)^{0.577}t^{0.150}0.9216^{(pH-7.5)}1.022^{(Temp-20^{\circ}C)}$

Composting of the Pig Manure Used with the Ceramic Biocarrier (복합세라믹 담체를 이용한 돈분 퇴비화 연구)

  • This study was executed to evaluate the utilization and efficiency of the ceramic biocarrier as the promoter of decomposing on the organic matters for the composting using with pig manure by analyzing of the physico-chemical properties during composting. The treatments of this experiment were consisted of the control(C),microorganism(M), M with natural zeolite(M+Z), M with synthesized zeolite(M+SZ), and M with ceramic biocarrier(M+CZ). The process term of composting was conducted for 30days in the rapidly fermented machine(as pilot system). The results of the physico-chemical properties of the composts were as follows. The changes of temperature during composting was not relative with the microorganism and zeolite materials used in the composts. At all of the treatments were similar to changing of temp. from the initial stage to the final stage. But the added microorganism treatments were higher than control. And the entire pH value of treatments were appeared the same that above temperature result, also the M+CZ and M+SZ treatment among the treatment were higher. At the results of T-C, T-N and C/N ratio, in case of T-C value, the M+CZ treatment was highly more decreased than others. However at the T-N value, there were not the differences from the each treatment. And the C/N ratio was changed according to the changes of T-C and T-N value. Especially, at the M+CZ aud M+SZ treatments were remarkably reduced by about 21.4-23.3 value. In the result of G.I for evaluating of the compost humidity, the M+CZ and M+SZ treatments were close up approximately 110 value compared with the control(G.I value 100). Therefore, the examined ceramic biocarrier amended with compost-promoting-bacteria could be applied to the production of many high quality fertilizers. It is also expected that the results of this researches could be applied to the recycle of the organic wastes based on the experimental results of ceramic biocarrier and compost-promoting-bacteria application.

A Case Study on the Growth of Learners through the Changemaker TEMPS Program (체인지메이커(Changemaker) TEMPS 프로그램을 통한 학습자의 성장에 대한 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of Changemaker education and to investigate the significance of Changemaker education in home economics education through a study of growth of learners applying the TEMPS program. To this end, first, the concept of Changemaker education was defined. Changemaker education is an education that changes society in a positive direction through a process of thinking about, learning about, making, and participating(playing) in various problems that we face in real life and drawing out solutions and share he solutions with others. Second, in this reasearch, the direction of Changemaker education is to make them interested in social problems and solve it and to make both the family and the career life happy and healthy by collaborating with other people. The scope of the contents is defined as "the selection of the content elements of the five domains of the child family, diet nutrition, clothing, housing and consumer life". As a way of teaching, we suggested that the TEMPS phase is followed so that the session purpose is achieved. Third, the Changemaker program consists of five steps of TEMPS among the five key ideas of Changemaker education. T(Thinking) is the step of understanding the problem and thinking about how to solve it, and E(Education) is getting the background for the next step. M(Making) is a step to create a target for problem solving, and P(Participation) and P(Play) are steps to Participation and enjoy. S(Share) is a step of changing the society through the result display, SNS sharing, and class presentation. In this study, 12 programs for middle school and 15 programs for high school were developed on the basis of TEMPS level. Each of the programs consists of 2 to 12 unit hours, which add up to 68 hours in the middle school program and 68 in high school. The learners who participated in the Changemaker program for one year (March 2, 2018~December 31, 2018) will experience improvement in many aspects including the linkage of life and education, practical ability, self-directed learning, self-esteem, sense of achievement and self-reflection, sensory observation, and so on.
