This study is focused on establishing the optimal conditions to enhance the production of antilisterial substances by Lactobacillus paracasei BK57 isolated from Baikkimchi. In addition, the growth and in situ lactic acid and bacteriocin production of this strain were investigated during the manufacture of fresh cheese. And then the efficacy of using Lactobacillus starter as a protective culture to improve the safety of fresh cheese against Listeria monocytogenes KCTC 3569 was estimated. Maximum growth rate and activity of antibacterial substances were obtained in Lactobacilli MRS broth at $37^{\circ}C$ with controlled pH 6.0 after 30 h of incubation under aerobic condition. However, the growth rate and antimicrobial activity of bacteriocin produced in whole milk supplemented with yeast extract (2.0%) as a substrate were lower than those obtained in MRS broth. Live cells and cell-free culture supernatant of BK57 strain were effective in the suppression of L. monocytogenes in milk, whereas the inhibitory of the bacteriocin obtained from BK57 strain was higher in BHI broth than in milk. During storage at $4^{\circ}C$ and $15^{\circ}C$ for 6 days, no significant difference was found in the cell viability and antimicrobial activity of BK 57 strain in fresh cheese. In samples held at two temperatures, there was at least a 15% reduction in the numbers of the pathogen in fresh cheese artificially contaminated with approximately $10^5CFU/ml$ of L. monocytogenes within 6 days. Our results demonstrated the usefulness of L. paracasei BK57 having antilisterial activity as a biopreservative in the cheese making process.
The process optimization of directed energy deposition (DED) has become imperative in the manufacture of reliable products. However, an energy-density-based approach without a sufficient powder feed rate hinders the attainment of an appropriate processing window for DED-processed materials. Optimizing the processing of DED-processed Ti-6Al- 4V alloys using energy per unit area (Eeff) and powder deposition density (PDDeff) as parameters helps overcome this problem in the present work. The experimental results show a lack of fusion, complete melting, and overmelting regions, which can be differentiated using energy per unit mass as a measure. Moreover, the optimized processing window (Eeff = 44~47 J/mm2 and PDDeff = 0.002~0.0025 g/mm2) is located within the complete melting region. This result shows that the Eeff and PDDeff-based processing optimization methodology is effective for estimating the properties of DED-processed materials.
Bacterial mutagenicity of shellfish or canned products of red-muscle fish affected by hot-airdry processings and/or during storages was investigated by Ames preincubation method. Mussel (Mytilus edulis) and surf clam (Tapes japonica) dried under either 40$\circ$C, 50$\circ$C or 60$\circ$C until remained about 25 % water content was stored at 4$\circ$C or 25$\circ$C for 6 months. Commercially available canned product of pacific saury (Cololabis saira) and mackerel saury (Scotnberjaponicus), whose producer or date of manufacture was identical each other, was stored at 25$\circ$C for 6 months. Mutagenic substances from sample (25 g dry weight) were extracted and purified for mutagenicity assay against S. typhitnurium TA98 by the simultaneous distillation extraction (SDE) method (Lee et al. 1955). Mutagenicity of sample was expressed number of revertant per 25 g dry sample. Number of revertant from unheated mussel sample was appeared to be 135, relative to 22 from unheated surf clam sample. Mutagenicity of both shellfish was strongly affected by heat treatment, but a lesser extent by storage conditions, even at 25$\circ$C for 6 months. Revertants of the mussel sample dried at 40$\circ$C, 50$\circ$C, or 60$\circ$C was found to be 227, 779, and 883, respectively. Similar, but lower, mutagenicity was observed from the sample of surf clam dried at 40$\circ$C, 50$\circ$C, or 60$\circ$C than mussel. Mutagenicity of canned pacific saury and mackerel samples was not influenced by storage conditions. Number of revertant from pacific saury was 175 which was relatively higher than 5 from mackerel. Mutagenicity of fresh pacific saury and mackerel samples was significantly higher than that of their counterparts from canned products. These results indicate that mutagenicity of the shellfish was affected by heat treatment (40$\circ$C, 50$\circ$C, or 60$\circ$C) used for drying process, but not much by storage for 6 months at 4$\circ$C or 25$\circ$C and the mutagenicity of canned products of red-muscle fish was not influenced by storage, even at 25$\circ$C for 6 months.

There is the need of regulating chestnut production because of being expected with chestnut trees cultivation farmhouses to be in a difficult situation by means of FTA negotiation promotion hereafter in Korea. And this study is aim to establish compensation criteria and plan for depreciation of income of farmers who take part in chestnut production regulation. We surveyed one hundred and thirty three among chestnut trees cultivation farmhouses in chief producing districts Kyung-nam, Jeon-nam and Chung-nam in Korea. As the result of this study, this study showed compensation criteria and plans for depreciation of income for farmers's participate in chestnut production regulation and showed criteria for closing chestnut old tree orchard and working process of cutting chestnut old tree. Procedures in closing chestnut old tree orchard in a day per hecta were felling operation and crude manufacture of thirty trees per one man, five forklains in loading and unloading chestnut log from a truck and building of workroad, the two number of assistance persons in loading and unloading chestnut log from a truck, the 6.94 trucks in carrying chestnut log. After farmers close chestnut trees orchard, government cost of old trees cuts and net income decrease for 3 years in case of planting trees for landscape and environment preservation.
Charcoal burning in the process of manufacture and ordinary use often release many constituent chemical species. As a result of open burning, the chemical composition as well as the physical properties of original material changes through the modification of surface properties of charcoal. Surface modification could be more responsible toward the outside elements for surface adsorption, it becomes easy to adsorb more toxic elements through surface adsorption. In this study, four kinds of commercially available charcoal were studied against the chemical and thermal stability along with the heavy metals and organic hazardous substances. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry, from room temperature to $400^{\circ}C$, were performed to study the weight loss and the changes in the behavior of those substances. According to TGA analysis, about 10% of weight loss was happened before $200^{\circ}C$. It was found that related weight loss of this temperature region may responsible to the gas phase organic matter. Natural charcoal, K1 and C1 show 15% of loss during the reaction heated to $400^{\circ}C$, while the artificial charcoal K2, C2 show the weight loss of about 20% was found. This is consistent with the main organic matter and VOC analysis results shown. Chemical composition based on the x-ray diffraction analysis was carried out. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals the existence of chemical additive in the forms of $Ba(NO_3)_2$, $BaCO_3$, and $NaNO_3$.
The mass balances of calcium salts during the manufacturing processes of Tofu were established by conductometric method and chemical analysis method. During the manufacturing processes of soy milk and Tofu, 66% of solid and 63% of calcium was transfered from soy-bean to the soy milk, and 47.8% of total solid from soybean was transfered to the Tofu, respectively. When the $CaCl_2$ was used as coagulant, calcium contents in Tofu $(Y_{Tofu},\;mg{\cdot}Ca/g{\cdot}Tofu,\;wet\;basis)$ and drained solution $(Y_{drained\;soln},\;mg{\cdot}Ca/ml{\cdot}drained\;soln.)$ were linearly increased with the amounts of $CaCl_2(C,g{\cdot}CaCl_2/ml{\cdot}soy\;milk)$ added in soy milk, and correlative equations between them were obtained as $Y_{Tofu}=0.3369\;C+1.2689$ for Tofu$(moisture\;content:\;81.5{\pm}0.5%)$ with r=0.9898, and $Y_{drained\;soln}= 0.2899C+0.0399$ for drained solution with r= 0.9991. It was proved that conductometric method was reasonably applicable to the measurement of calcium contents of the products from every processes of Tofu manufacture except soy-bean. However the conductometric method was not recomendable in the case of $CaSO_4$ as coagulant due to its low solubility ana uneven distribution in soy milk and Tofu tissue.

It often happens that a removable partial denture needs to be repaired due to tissue changes in the remaining alveolar ridge, fracture of the denture, or fracture of the abutment tooth. There are several advantages to retrofitting a customized surveyed crown under the existing RPD. Retrofitting a crown to the RPD decreases the economic burden to the patient and avoids the need for several appointments to fabricate a new RPD. It is difficult for artificial teeth used to repair dentures due to fractured natural teeth to have a shape similar to that of natural teeth, and to repair aesthetic artificial teeth, it is necessary to manufacture customized artificial teeth similar to the shape of each patient's teeth. Recently, CAD/CAM technology has been used to fabricate customized prosthetics on existing RPD to achieve high retention and fitness accuracy, and by manufacturing customized artificial teeth, more aesthetic and harmonious artificial tooth repair is possible. This is a case in which a denture was repaired using a digital method to fabricate a customized prosthesis on an existing partial denture and customized artificial teeth that mirrored the adjacent dentition, saving time and cost, simplifying the process, and achieving aesthetically and functionally satisfactory results.
The purpose of this research is to develop thin film materials and fabrication process for efficient $TiO_2$/CdTe solar cells. In this work photocatalyst titanium dioxide was prepared by sol-gel procedure according to reaction condition, the mole ratio of $H_2O$/TTIP, pH of solution and aging condition of powder. The prepared titanium dioxide was thermally treated from 300 to $750^{\circ}C$. Maximum intensity of anatase phase of titanium dioxide was achieved by calcination at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr. And it was mixture of anatase and rutile phase when temperature of calcination was $750^{\circ}C$. It has been known that the properties of synthesized titanium dioxide according to aging time and calcination temperature was converted to anatase phase crystal on increasing of aging time. Also the current density has been increased with aging time and temperature, the efficiency has been increased with because of reason on above results. The formation of chemical bonding on oxygen and cadmium telluride under oxygen circumstances had been observed, and oxygen of thin film surface on cadmium telluride had been decreased with the treatment of chromate and hydrazine. As results had been shown that the energy conversion efficiency of cadmium telluride use by rapidly treatmented heat at the condition of $550^{\circ}C$ under air circumstance got 12.0%, 6.0% values according to $0.07cm^2$, $1.0cm^2$ surface area, respectively.
This study was conducted to manufacture a good qualified organic fertilizer with cow dung through rapid composting process, and the proposal guideline of the degree of maturity could be estimated with the measurement of final product. It included total nitrogen content of above 2% on an oven-dry material basis, C/N ratio of below 20, CEC of more than about 60 me/100g, ratio of carbon in reducing sugar to the total carbon of below 35%, and temperature in pile of above $60^{\circ}C$. The total nitrogen content, the C/N ratio, and the Paper Chromatographic method couldn't be the guideline to evalute the maturity of cow dung compost. CEC was increased in increased fermentation and it was high in the high fermented temperature plots which were cow dung+ shredded bark in 1988, cow+dung+wood chips in 1989, and cow dung+rice straws in 1990. The ratio of carbon in reducing sugar to total carbon in 1990 was lower in cow dung+saw dust than cow dung+rice straws that was the highest temperature in pile. Generally cow dung was mixed well with saw dust and thus the total carbon of the product was high. The measurement of the temperature in pile seems to be a indirect guideline of maturity.
This study was carried out to develop the Korean paper(Hanji) sludge-wood fiber composite boards utilizing the relinquished sludges occurring from the making process of Korean classic paper Hanji. The bark of paper mulberry(Broussonetia kazinoki Sieb.) has been used as a raw material since past hundreds and thousands years. Korean paper(Hanji) sludge was divided into two kinds, the one was the white sludge from the first stage and the other was the black sludge occurring from the final stage of Korean paper(Hanji) making. Four levels of the mixed ratio of each white or black sludge to wood fiber(10:90, 20:80, 30:70 and 40:60), three levels of the resin adhesives(PMDI, urea and phenol resin) and three levels of the density(0.60, 0.75 and 0.90) were designed to investigate the physical properties of Korean paper(Hanji) sludge-wood fiber composite boards. From the results and discussion, it could be concluded as follows : 1. In the white sludge-wood fiber composite board, the thickness swelling was not affected by the specific gravity and sludge additive of composite boards, but among the resin adhesives PMDI resin showed the best dimensional stability. Water absorption was superior in urea resin, secondly PMDI resin and very poor in phenol resin. 2. In the black sludge-wood fiber composite board, thickness swelling was superior in PMDI resin but very poor in phenol resin. In water absorption, PMDI and urea resin showed good results, regardless of specific gravity or sludge additive, but phenol resin showed poor results. 3. From the results and discussion of physical properties it is suggested that the white sludge-wood fiber composite boards bonded with PMDI or black sludge-wood fiber composite boards bonded with urea resin were made possibly with similar or better properties. compared with general fiberboard until the addition of 20% sludge into wood fiber.
