  • Pollutants in aquaculture system effluent mostly originated from solid wastes including uneaten feed and excreta of cultured species. In this research, DAF(Dissolved Air Flotation) unit is suggested as an integrated solid control unit especially as a form of IIBG(Inline Injection Bubble Generation) process in aquaculture system. Solid removal performance of DAF unit was examined under various operation and salinity conditions with turbidity and suspended solid. Solid waste removal efficiencies were found to be affected by operation conditions including saturator pressure, recycle ratio, coagulant concentration. Solid removal efficiency was higher under higher saturator pressure and recycle ratio under which condition larger number of bubbles is generated. Coagulant is thought to have important role in creating bubble-particle aggregate by showing better removal efficiency with higher concentration. However higher saline water showed less effectiveness in removing solids by DAF(IIBG). Application of DAF(IIBG) process also showed additional effect in phosphate removal and DO(Dissolved Oxygen) supply. Phosphate existed in polluted water was removed up to 46% after treatment, which is thought to attribute to aluminium phosphate precipitation. And DO concentration was found to increase over 50% of initial saturation concentration after the injection of micro-bubbles. Through experiments on solid removal from aquaculture effluent, DAF(IIBG) process is estimated to be effective solid control method. This property can help aquaculture system being installed and operated simply and effectively.

  • The widespread adoption of aluminum slab formwork in modern construction, evident in both domestic and international projects, offers numerous advantages. However, a critical challenge persists regarding the dismantling process for these slabs. The current industry standard involves dropping the slabs to the ground floor upon removal. This practice raises several concerns, notably the generation of significant noise pollution that disrupts nearby communities. More importantly, the risk of worker injuries due to falls from height during the dismantling process is a serious safety hazard. Additionally, the impact from dropping the slabs can damage the aluminum itself, leading to increased replacement costs. These drawbacks necessitate the exploration of alternative dismantling techniques that prioritize worker safety, material sustainability, and overall process efficiency. Accordingly, in this study, when the entire first-generation slab formwork of an apartment house is simultaneously lowered to a reachable position for workers, it is then disassembled and lifted for transport to the next floor. This approach has the potential to demonstrate improvements in safety, quality, economy, and process efficiency.

  • This paper proposes a novel method for transporting various types of user traffic effectively over the next generation network called integrated services digital network 3 (ISDN3) (or quantum network) using quantum packets. Basically, a quantum packet comprises one or more 53-byte quanta as generated by a "quantumization" process. While connection-oriented traffic is supported by fixed-size quantum packets each with one quantum to emulate circuit switching, connectionless traffic (e.g., IP packets and active packets) is carried by variable-size quantum packets with multiple quanta to support store-and-forward switching/routing. Our aim is to provide frame-like or datagram-like services while enabling cell-based multiplexing. The quantum packet method also establishes a flexible and extensible framework that caters for future packetization needs while maintaining backward compatibility with ATM. In this paper, we discuss the design of the quantum packet method, including its format, the "quantumization" process, and support for different types of user traffic. We also present an analytical model to evaluate the consumption of network resources (or network costs) when quantum packets are employed to transfer loss-sensitive data using three different approaches: cut-through, store-and-forward and ideal. Close form mathematical expressions are obtained for some situations. In particular, in terms of network cost, we discover two interesting equivalence phenomena for the cut-through and store-and-forward approaches under certain conditions and assumptions. Furthermore, analytical and simulation results are presented to study the system behavior. Our analysis provides valuable insights into the. design of the ISDN3/quantum network.

  • From a general perspective of design history, the design methodology movement is interpreted in relations to the rationalistic and universal characteristics of modernism. This essay explores a historical context of the movement, focusing on its discursive and practical relations to cyborg sciences that has been shaped by the research and development of military technology in Cold War America. The formation of such relations could be largely devided into two processes: One is the process in which methods and techniques of system science that included operation research, system analysis, and system engineering, were appropriated by the first generation methodologists who had tried to establish "the science of design", and the other is the one in which Herbert Simon's studies on problem solving and artificial intelligence became profoundly embedded in theoretical frameworks of design methodology after the first generation. Examining such processes critically, this essay argues that a design process became finally redefined by the third generation methodology, as a 'feedback loop' of circulation of production and consumption, that is, an apparatus of information-processing which gives a concrete form to the "invisible hand" of markets.

  • With the development of photovoltaic industry, the cost of photovoltaic power generation has become the significant issue. And the metallization process has decided the cost of original materials and photovoltaic efficiency of the solar cells. Nowadays, double printing process has been introduced instead of one-step printing process for front contact of polycrystalline silicon solar cells, which can effectively improve the photovoltaic conversion efficiency of silicon solar cells. Here, the relative cheap Cu paste has replaced the expensive Ag paste to form Ag/Cu composite front contact of silicon solar cells. The photovoltaic performance and the cost of photovoltaic power generation have been investigated. With the optimization on structure and height of Cu finger layer for Ag/Cu composite double-printed front contact, the silicon solar cells have exhibited a photovoltaic conversion efficiency of 18.41%, which has reduced 3.42 cent per Watt for the cost of photovoltaic power generation.

  • With the development of 3D-based CAD (Computer Aided Design), attempts at freeform building design have expanded to small and medium-sized buildings in Korea. However, a standardized system for continuous utilization of shape data and BIM conversion process implemented with 3D-based NURBS is still immature. Without accurate review and management throughout the Freeform building project, interference between members occurs and the cost of the project increases. This is very detrimental to the project. To solve this problem, we proposed a continuous utilization process of 3D shape information based on BIM parameters. Our process includes algorithms such as Auto Split, Panel Optimization, Excel extraction based on shape information, BIM modeling through Adaptive Component, and BIM model utilization method using ID Code. The optimal cutting reference point was calculated and the optimal material specification was derived using the Panel Optimization algorithm. With the Adaptive Component design methodology, a BIM model conforming to the standard cross-section details and specifications was uniformly established. The automatic BIM conversion algorithm of shape data through Excel extraction created a BIM model without omission of data based on the optimized panel cutting reference point and cutting line. Finally, we analyzed how to use the BIM model built for automatic conversion. As a result of the analysis, in addition to the BIM utilization plan in the general construction stage such as visualization, interference review, quantity calculation, and construction simulation, an individual management plan for the unit panel was derived through ID data input. This study suggested an improvement process by linking the existing research on atypical panel optimization and the study of parameter-based BIM information management method. And it showed that it can solve the problems of existing Freeform building project.

  • We studied the heating characteristics of a whirling spindle. This spindle is an important component of a whirling machine for turning a ball screw shaft. In the manufacturing process for a conventional ball screw shaft, a single tool is used to form a spiral in a lathe machine tool. Thereafter, a high-frequency heat treatment process is performed. Recently, a whirling-type cutting method has emerged. This method can perform hard turning in the rotating direction of the spiral portion of the ball screw shaft by rotating and mounting multiple tools. The whirling method can be applied to the heat-treated material. In this study, an experimental apparatus was constructed to analyze the whirling spindle. The experiment proceeded in four steps. The rotating speed of the whirling spindle was set to ISO random and sequential rising conditions. Cooling and non-cooling modes in the cooling jacket were tested. As a result of the above experiment, the heating characteristics of the whirling spindle were derived.

  • The fourth industrial revolution became a decisive opportunity to increase our dependence on non-face-to-face services. Therefore, this study tried to derive a new strategic plan for non-face-to-face marketing by discussing the short-form branded content currently in the spotlight among the digital native generation. In particular, focusing on the phenomenon of co-viewing, where short-form branded content is viewed and communicated on social media, how exposure type of branded content affect attitudes toward short-form branded content and the products it contains verified. In addition, this research presents the perceived sense of belonging as a mediating variable. It was confirmed through an experiment whether the sense of belonging perceived by consumers during the co-viewing process significantly mediated the relationship between the exposure types and consumer attitudes. As a result of the study, it was found that the exposure type significantly affected the attitude towards the contents and the products contained in them. Furthermore, the perceived sense of belonging was also significant as a mediating variable.

  • The purpose of this study is in allowing thinking about the design development process which is more towards the visual and perceptional aspects related to the form structure by more diverse methods by typology of idea generation. To accomplish such goal, researches in the psychology, pedagogy, engineering, and consilient studies as well as related precedent researches and reference data in architecture, promotion, industrial design, and other art fields and fashion designs are collected and analyzed to see the study trend. In addition, in the content analysis method based on such, the idea generation was classified into types in consideration of relevancy, usefulness, and suitability with fashion. First, a concentrated thinking of a limited space is a method of leading an optimal design by focusing on solving the cause of a problem within a space which generates the problem. Second, plan thinking per section of structure decomposition is a method of dismantling the design problems per organization, thinking type, factor, and characteristic into sub-modules to re-interpret and re-organize the problems in various aspects. Third, an associated thinking through interpreting relationships among vocabularies is a method of selecting the marginal languages that allow a person to come up with concrete forms and the key words related to fashion to import the characteristics and attributes of the marginal languages and thematic relationship between the two terms to search the relevancy. Lastly, the free integrated thinking of language extension is a method of groping integration between other fields and fashion by free integration among the extended terms by extending the vocabularies through inferring metaphorical expressions founded upon individual's memories or knowledge concepts regarding theme words that do not allow concrete forms to come up.

  • Fuel cell power plant which has advantages as a distributed generation is influenced by high cost of investment and uncertainty of electricity price. This study suggests the model of real options which considers the irreversibility of investment in the fuel cell plant and the uncertainty of electricity price. Most models of real options assume the geometric Brownian motion for convenience, but this study develops the model for the feasibility analysis considering the mean reverting process of electricity price, with the closed form solution on the value of investment option. The result of the empirical analysis considering the data related to the fuel cell generation with the scale of 20MW and the domestic RPS circumstance represents that the investment is feasible without the uncertainty, and is not feasible with the uncertainty. This result implies that the political support as well as the improvement of profit system including revenue and cost are necessary for the activation of the fuel cell power plant.
