  • Many small scale Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) are currently being constructed at many rural areas. The STPs in rural area suffer from low concentration and large inflow quantity fluctuation during wet weather mainly due to illicit combined sewer system. Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) is a process effectively coping with these obstacles. The main objective of this study was to evaluate SBR with high hydraulic loading and low inflow concentration. The operating conditions tested were: organic loading rate = $0.17-0.42KgBOD/m^3/d$, hydraulic loadings = $12.1-61.5m^3/m^2/d$, average MLSS concentration = 2500 mg/L, F/M ratio = 0.026-0.17 KgBOD/Kg MLSS, HRT = 9-12 hr HRT, and SRT = 5.6-33.6 days. Organic loading rate on SBR did not impact significantly on BOD and SS removal efficiencies. To increase treatment efficiencies, low hydraulic loading rate with low concentration was required. The results suggested that low influent concentration with high inflow rates during wet weather requires extended time for settling.

  • Although constructions are getting diverse, larger in size, and higher-storied, we witness that CM technologies are not coping with such a growing trend. In particular, CM, one of vulnerable areas, shall continue to be given priority hereafter. The research has been conducted with a strong focus on total design and supervision offices already specializing in CM projects, in order to prepare for the future activated CM markets. Authors have sought to find mistakes in the process of being in control of CM works and create measures to boost CM through case-study, documentary research, and interviews with experts. It excludes theoretical research, as many data are already accumulated domestic and abroad.

  • Cognition and control of grinding trouble occurring during the grinding process are classified into a quantitative knowledge which depends on experimental data and qualitative knowledge which relies on skilful engineers. Grinding operations include a large number of functional parameters, since there are several ways of coping with grinding trouble. One is the qualitative method which depends on empirical knowledge utilizing the skilful experts from the workship, the other is the quantitative method which utilizes the experimental data obtained by a sensor. But, they are all difficult to accomplish from the grinding trouble-shooting system. The reason is that grinding troubles are now easily controlled in the quantitative method, and therefore, trouble-shooting has mainly relied on the knowledge of skilful engineers. Thus, there is an important issue of how a grinding trouble-shooting system can be designed and what knowledge is utilized among the large amount of grinding trouble information. In this paper, basic strategy to develop the grinding database of rule-based model, which is strongly depended upon experience and intuition , is described.

  • Purpose: This study is a qualitative research on the adaptation of the spinal cord injury after fortuitous the accident. Methods: The subjects are fifteen spinal cord injuries. As a study method, this author employed Grounded theory, one of the qualitative research methods. For data analysis, the procedures of Grounded theory methodology was adopted, and then the data collection were collected for six months from March to September 2009. Concerning the frequence of interviewing, each participants went through individual interviewing twice at least and up to four times if necessary. Results: As a result of open coding, total thirty six concepts and twenty categories were drawn. To synthesize these categories, they came to choose 'Going into the new self-made spinal cord injury' as a nuclear category. Typological analysis based on the result of the paradigm model divided them into a reality-avoiding, passive coping, reality-maintaining, reality-overcoming, and self-fulfillment type. Conclusion: As a result of this study, family support to those with spinal cord disability is an important factor for their motive for rehabilitation and adjustment, spinal disabilities were accepted to mostly the disabilities in relations with colleagues. Thus it is necessary to give them a nursing intervention through disability group for successful adjustment to life with disability.

  • Korean society is experiencing an increase in multicultural families and single households. The incidence of the MERS, epidemic in 2015, and the subsequent cases of child abuse have been major shocks to Korean society. In addition, there has been a steady increase in household debt, that is in danger of causing a serious crisis in the stability of our society and the family. The current demand for increased accountability in the democratic process is becoming an important topic. There is also an increased awareness of natural disaster preparation due to local earthquakes that have caused concern. At this point, the lifelong education in the home economics education field in Korea is in line with the changes and crises of various societies. Problems related to family life that have happened in the real life of learners stand in the place of the study with preventive character. It should provide the best alternative for family, home, and society, and help to overcome the problems of life. In order for lifelong education to respond to these social changes $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ Home Economics Education, it is necessary to develop: 'formation and improvement education of family relationship', 'crisis prevention and management coping ability training', 'safety education', 'learning communication and consensus processes', 'consumer culture education', 'ethics education on environment and resources', 'sustainability education', 'local education of family relationship', 'crisis prevention and management coping ability training', 'safety education', 'learning communication and consensus processes', 'consumer culture education', 'ethics education on environment and resources', 'sustainability education', 'local economic activation education', and other topics of lifelong education topics related to the field of Home Economics Education are required. • This study explores the study experiences of Southeast Asian students at a reputable Korean private university in Seoul. In particular, this study focuses on difficulties and coping strategies of both non-native speaker of English and native-speakers of English who are working for their undergraduate or postgraduate degrees. Interviews of fourteen students from five Southeast Asian countries were collected and analyzed by NVivo 9. Thematic analysis result shows that many students, particularly non-native speakers of English, had much more difficulties than their counterparts, in contemporary Korean university context, where internationalization indices-driven strategies including expanding courses conducted in English language. Also, this study observes and documents contrasting patterns of different degree of difficulties experienced by students, depending on their degree levels and majors. Undergraduate students in science and engineering majors had the greatest degree of difficulties among all. In contrast, their graduate counterparts seem to have less difficulties. This might be related to the fact that graduate students in science and engineering majors are mostly working with their peers in their own labs, which provides institutional support. Coping strategies of students show that international students, facing unfavorable or unfriendly treatments by their Korean peers, developed innovative strategies, including using the internet technology to catch up with the classes that they could not fully understand. As a whole, adaptation process of international students do not seem to be passive or one-way. This study also provides policy implications for international students, particularly, who can be categorized as linguistic and ethnic minorities.
