  • Long span cable-stayed bridges are extremely vulnerable to dynamic excitations such as which caused by traffic load, wind and earthquake. Studies on cable-stayed bridge vibration control have been keenly interested by researchers and engineers in design new bridges and assessing in-service bridges. In this paper, a novel Hybrid-Tuned Mass Damper (H-TMD) is proposed and a hybrid control model named Mixed Logic Dynamic (MLD) is employed to build the bridge-H-TMD system to mitigate the vibrations. Firstly, the fundamental theory and modeling process of MLD model is introduced. After that, a new state switching design of the H-TMD and state space equations for different states are proposed to control the bridge vibrations. As the state switching designation presented, the H-TMDs can applied active force to bridge only if the structural responses are beyond the limited thresholds, otherwise, the vibrations can be reduced by passive components of dampers without active control forces provided. A new MLD model including both passive and active control states is built based on the MLD model theory and the state switching design of H-TMD. Then, the case study is presented to demonstrate the proposed methodology. In the case study, the control scheme with H-TMDs is applied for a long span cable-stayed bridge, and the MLD model is established and simulated with earthquake excitation. The simulation results reveal that the suggested method has a well damping effect and the established system can be switched between different control states as design excellently. Finally, the energy consumptions of H-TMD schemes are compared with that of Active Tuned Mass Damper (ATMD) schemes under variable seismic wave excitations. The compared results show that the proposed H-TMD can save energy than ATMD.

  • In this paper a content addressable memory (CAM) is designed by adopting best-match method. It has a single processing element(PE) architecture with high computational efficiency and throughput. It is composed of three main functional blocks(input MUX, best-match CAM, control part). It support fully parallel processing. Logic simulation is completed by using QUICKSIM, Circuit simulation is performanced by using HSPICE. Its layout is based on the ETRI 3 m n-well process design rules. Its maximum operating frequency is 20 MHz.

  • A residual generation scheme that can be employed in the process fault detection and isolation systems for a class of nonlinear (control) systems is suggested. Although the scheme is a kind of observer scheme, the design of the observers employed for residual generation is very simple and the order of the observer is very low. In spite of the simplicity, the residual generation scheme provides the same information for the detection and isolation of the anticipated faults as the conventional multiple observer based schemes. The residuals may be structured so that fault isolation can be performed by pre-selected logic. An FDIS using the residual generation scheme is constructed and evaluated for a nonlinear DC motor system.

  • In this paper, we design and implement the monolithic power factor correction IC for system power modules using a high voltage(50V) CMOS process. The power factor correction IC is designed for power applications, such as refrigerator, air-conditioner, etc. It includes low voltage logic, 5V regulator, analog control circuit, high-voltage high current output drivers, and several protection circuits. And also, the designed IC has standby detection function which detects the output power of the converter stage and generates system down signal when load device is under the standby condition. The simulation and experimental results show that the designed IC acts properly as power factor correction IC with efficient protective functions.

  • This paper presents the attitude algorithm using Fuzzy technique to mix gyro information with accelerometer. The attitude angle calculated by the low-cost gyros only increases its error with time rapidly because of the integration process of the algorithm and large sensor error. It is known that the accelerometer output includes the attitude information of a vehicle and its information is more effective during low dynamic maneuver. Therefore it is needed to combine two information appropriately for obtaining the attitude information from low-cost MEMS inertial sensors. Because Fuzzy logic is very effective to make a decision of maneuvering state, it is applied to the mixed algorithm. It is shown by experiment ...

  • Recently PLC pursues faster scanning time, circuit confidence, reliability improvement, and smaller size. To obtain above all merit, custom IC(Gate Array) is developed. Custom IC includes 5 main blocks and 2 auxiliary blocks. The 5 main blocks process faster sequential instruction execution by only logic gate using hexa instruction code system. And the 2 auxiliary blocks generate baud rate clock (153.6 KHz, 76.8KHz) to communicate between PLC and computer or programmers.

  • A 6-Gb/s differential voltage mode driver is presented whose output impedance and pre-emphasis level can be controlled independently. The voltage mode driver consists of five binary-weighted slices each of which has four sub-drivers. The output impedance is controlled by the number of enabled slices while the pre-emphasis level is determined by how many sub-drivers in the enabled slices are driven by post-cursor input. A prototype transmitter with a voltage-mode driver implemented in a 65-nm CMOS logic process consumes 34.8-mW from a 1.2-V power supply and its pre-emphasized output signal shows 165-mVpp,diff and 0.56-UI eye opening at the end of a cable with 10-dB loss at 3-GHz.

  • In the past couple of years, there has been increasing interest in the fusion of neural networks and fuzzy logic. Most of the existing fused models have been proposed to implement different types of fuzzy reasoning mechanisms and inevitably they suffer from the dimensionality problem when dealing with complex real-world problem. To overcome the problem, we propose the self-organizing networks with activation nodes based on fuzzy inference and polynomial function. The proposed model consists of two parts, one is fuzzy nodes which each node is operated as a small fuzzy system with fuzzy implication rules, and its fuzzy system operates with Gaussian or triangular MF in Premise part and constant or regression polynomials in consequence part. the other is polynomial nodes which several types of high-order polynomials such as linear, quadratic, and cubic form are used and are connected as various kinds of multi-variable inputs. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, time series data for gas furnace process has been applied.

  • In this paper, a fuzzy controller is proposed for the operation of stoker-type refuse incinerator with many kinds of uncertain factors. To build the exact mathematical model is very difficult because of the variation of physical/chemical properties of refuse as a fuel and the complexity of the combusiton process. The fuzzy controller consists of fuzzy sensor, fuzzy decision maker and tracking part. The rules based on the professional operators empirical knowledge are made for the control of the boiler evaporation rate, emission gas and refuse throughput. For the performance measure of the proposed fuzzy controller, the model of the incinerator is constructed and the simulation results are given.
