  • A design of PI controller to be used to control the first-order lag plus dead time process, such as a flow process, by the coefficient diagram method (CDM) is investigated. The factor of the dead time of process is first approximated to be the first-order by the Pade approximation. The response of the flow control system designed by CDM satisfy both transient and steady state specifications. However, the transient response generally still has long rise time. In order to improve the speed of the system response, a feedforward controller (FFC) is added into the PI control system. A Fuzzy Tension Control Method for the Coupled Looper System at the Hot Rolling Process (열연 루퍼시스템의 퍼지 장력제어)

  • The hot rolling process ranks the highest position for production in steel making process. The hot strip manufacturing processes consist of the reheating furnace, roughing and finishing mill and coiler. The reheating furnace heats the slab. The roughing and finishing mill produce the hot strip from slab. The hot strip quality mainly depends on finishing mill, which consists of 4-high 7 stands. The looper is installed between stands and is used for controlling the strip tension by the looper angle for better material flow. It is difficult to control the strip tension with the coupled looper system from interaction between the looper angle and strip tension. Too much deviation of strip tension severely affects the poor width quality of the hot strip. It is important to control simultaneously both the looper angle and strip tension with each of their target values. This paper proposes the fuzzy tension control, which is developed to minimize the width deviation of the hot strip by maintaining the proper strip tension between stands and to achieve the stable operation of the coupled looper system. The fuzzy tension control performance is compared with the conventional PID control by experimental results.

  • In order to minimize straightness error of deflected shafts, a automatically bending process control system is designed, fabricated, and studied. The multi-step straightening process and the three-point bending process are developed for the geometric adaptive straightness control. Load-deflection relationship, on-line identification of variations of material properties, on-line springback prediction, and studied for the three-point bending processes. Selection of a loading point supporting condition are derved form fuzzy inference and fuzzy self-learning method in the multi-step straighternign process. Automatic straightening machine is fabricated by using the develped ideas. Validity of the proposed system si verified through experiments.

  • In this paper, we propose a new type of process discovery framework, which is named as control-path-driven process group discovery framework, to be used for process mining and process reengineering in supporting life-cycle management of business process models. In addition, we develop a process mining system based on the proposed framework and perform experimental verification through it. The process execution event logs applied to the experimental effectiveness and verification are specially defined as Process BIG-Logs, and we use it as the input datasets for the proposed discovery framework. As an eventual goal of this paper, we design and implement a control path-driven process group discovery algorithm and framework that is improved from the ρ-algorithm, and we try to verify the functional correctness of the proposed algorithm and framework by using the implemented system with a BIG-Log dataset. Note that all the process mining algorithm, framework, and system developed in this paper are based on the structural information control net process modeling methodology.

  • In this paper, a fish drying process control system is proposed, which predicts the proper change with time in weight of the material fish and the drying conditions in advance, based on the performance of skilled worker. In order to implement a human expertise into an automated fish drying process control system, an experimental analysis is made and a model for the process is built. The proposed system divided into two procedures: The procedure before drying and the one during drying. The procedure before drying is for the prediction of necessary drying time. To estimate the necessary drying time, first, the proper change in weight for the product is obtained by using fuzzy reasoning. The condition part of the production rule consists of the factors of fish body and the expected degree of dryness. Kext, the necessary drying time is obtained by regression models. The variables employed in the models are the factors, inferred change in weight and drying conditions. The model for the procedure during drying is also proposed for more accurate estimation, which is described by a system of linear-differential equations.

  • The battery charge/discharge process, the final step of the secondary battery production process, requires real-time precision controls for improving both lifetime and performance of the battery cell. In this paper, we present embedded system design for precision control of the secondary battery charge/discharge production process using low power embedded processor based on embedded linux. This system receive charge/discharge command from the main server through ethernet. Compared to existing charge/discharge control system, our design makes low cost and precision control system possible.

  • In this paper, an integrated method for the path planning and motion control of wheeled mobile robots using a hybrid system model and control is presented. The hybrid model including the continuous dynamics and discrete dynamics with the continuous and discrete state vector is derived for a two wheel driven mobile robot. The architecture of the hybrid control system for real time path planning and following is designed which has the 3-layered hierarchical structure : the discrete event system using the digital automata as the higher process, the continuous state system for the wheel velocity controls as the lower process, and the interface system as the interaction process between the continuous system as the low level and the discrete event system as the high level. The reference motion commands for autonomous navigation are generated by the abstracted motion in the discrete event system. The motion control tasks including the feasible path planning and autonomous motion control with various initial conditions are investigated as the applications by the simulation studies.

  • This study aims at establishing JIT production management system to enable manage the resources input into from procurement through construction based on correct identification of the process, an analysis on the amount of input materials and information sharing. This study has focused on the process control and working process of rebar work in domestic apartment house construction where the overall scope of Process from the planning phase to the construction phase has been analyzed in this study. Also construction phase was selected for the application of a sample case. A basic model for JIT production was generated with these processes. Furthermore A questionnaire and the on-site survey with process, checklist and control data were prepared and performed for the application of JIT production management model into rebar work. The governing scopes of JIT production management system include process management, material management, yard loading and moving management and inventory control, and the operation of each control item

  • This paper describes a Chuck System developed for scaling PDP gas hole on PDP panel glass. There are lots of constraints for designing Chuck System: high temperature, high vacuum, precious motor control etc. A such constraints was considered by design of structure and by selecting of parts and material for Chuck System. The Chuck System was manufactured and assembled after the design process. It was applied on the PDP process unit. For sealing POP hole, precious control of a step motor was important in this system. For this experiment, a step motor, motor driver and micro controller(80196KC) were used.
