  • The present automated manufacturing environment is very different when the classical statiscal process control method based on batch processing were used. Therefore these must be replaced by automated statiscal process control method. In this point of view , this study intends to develop the automated statiscal process control method which can be implemented in the proesent automated manufacturing environment . Specially this study suggested modified control limit line and developed the rule to identify the special cause of the manufacturing process in the aspect of the ppm manegement.

  • In order to improve stability and controllability of SUV vehicle, Integrated Dynamics Control system with Steering system (IDCS) was developed. Eight degree of freedom vehicle model and front and rear steering system model were used to design IDCS system. It also employs Fuzzy logic control method to design integrate control system. The performance of IDCS was evaluated with two road conditions and several driving conditions. The result shows that SUV vehicle with IDCS tracked the reference yaw rate under all tested conditions. IDCS reduced the body slip angle also. It represents IDCS improves vehicle stability and steerability.

  • The ring rolling process is one of the best known ring production method. The present model based control system was designed for rings with rectangle cross-section yet. An Adaptive Fuzzy Control for Closed-Die Ring-Rolling was developed in order to enhance the flexibility of the radial-axial ring rolling machine and to produce the rings with highly complex cross-section profile, roller bearing rings. A fuzzy method was implemented because of its simple application and to utilize the known process knowledge. The quality of the control system was estimated by die filling grad, which is strong dependent on the rising time of the controller. The rolling process parameters were also varied to determine their influence on filling of the ring profile. Die filling met the requirement of the industry.

  • A state or the arts in Japanese chemical process control is reviewed based on experience in applying advanced process control schemes to several industrial chemical processes. The applications validate model predictive control (MPC), the most popular advanced control scheme in the process control community, as, indeed, a powerful and practical control algorithm. However, at the same time, it is elucidated that MPC can solve only the control algorithm part of the problem and one needs chemical and systems engineering aspects to solve the entire problem. By illustrating several industrial process control problems, the need for chemical engineering aspects as well as the future direction for process control are addressed, especially in light or current attitudes toward product quality.

  • This paper presents a statistical process control(SPC) system in the electronic parts manufacturing process. In this system, an SPC method is integrated into the automated inspection technology on a real time base. It shows how the collected data can be analyzed with the SPC to provide process information. also presented are stuided of subpixel image processing technology to improve the accuracy of parts mearements , and the cumulative-sum(CUSUM) control chart for fraction defectives.An application of the developed system to connector manufacturing process as a part of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) is presented.

  • The pilot test of a new alternative for small wastewater treatment system has been conducted for two years. It consists of a hybrid bioreactor and the expert system including the process control logic, PLC system, and HMI for the process automation. In order to monitor and remote control its status, the real-time data was transferred from the on-site control center to the central station via a wireless local area network. More efficient and stable performances were observed at automatic operating mode compared with the manual. On an average, COD, SS, T-N and T-P concentrations in the effluent from the hybrid bioreactor were less than 14, 7, 12 and 0.9 mg/L, respectively. According to the result from pilot tests, the quality of treated wastewater with sand filtration was enough to be utilized again.

  • In the cluster tool, it is necessary to precisely control the vacuum pressure for the wafer transportation between transport module and cassette or process modules with the range of 1*10$^{-4}$ to 5*10$^{-5}$ torr. So we have designed the pressure control system for the transport module of the cluster tool and have evaluated its performance. Digital PID is utilized with the weighted sum of both three previous errors and one current error. The feedback signal is put into the nitrogen mass flow controller using the transport module controller. This pressure control system can prevent the transport module from the particle generation and backstreaming of hazardous process gases of the process chamber.

  • This paper describes the actual application of a feedback control loop as a means for minimizing turbine impulse chamber pressure variation during the turbine steam valve tests at a 1,000 MW nuclear power plant. The chamber pressure control loop was implemented in the new digital control system which was installed as a replacement for the old analog type control system. There has been about 40MW of the generator output change during the steam valve tests, especially the high pressure governing valve tests, because the old control system had not the impulse chamber pressure control so the operators had to compensate steam flow drop manually. The process of each valve test consists of a closing process and an reopening process and the operators can make sure that the valves are in their sound conditions by checking the valves movement. The control algorithm described in this paper contributed to keep the change in megawatt only to 6MW during the steam valve tests. Thereby, the disturbance to reactor control was reduced, and the overall plant control system's stability was greatly improved as well.

Production Control in Multiple Bottleneck Processes using Genetic Algorithm (GA를 이용한 복수 애로공정 생산방식제어)

  • This paper seeks to present a multi-control method that can contribute to effective control of the production line with multiple bottleneck processes. The multi-control method is the production system that complements shortcomings of CONWIP and DBR, and it is designed to determine the raw material input according to the WIP level of two bottleneck processes and WIP level of total process. The effectiveness of the production system developed by applying the multi-control method was verified by the following three procedures. Raw material input conditions of the multi-control method are as follows. First, raw materials are go into the production line when the number of the total process WIP is lower than established number of WIP in total process and first process is idle. Second, raw materials are introduced when the number of WIP of two bottleneck processes is lower than the established number of WIP of each bottleneck process. Third, raw materials are introduced when the first process and in front of bottleneck process are idle even if the number of WIP in the total process is less than established number of WIP of the total process. The production line with two bottleneck processes was selected as the condition for production environment, and the production process modeling of CONWIP, DBR and multi-control production method was defined according to the production condition. And the optimum limited WIP level suitable for each system was obtained by applying a genetic algorithm to determine the total limited number of WIP of CONWIP, the limited number of WIP of DBR bottleneck process, the number of WIP in the total process of multi-control method and the limited number of WIP of bottleneck process. The limited number of WIP of CONWIP, DBR and multi-control method obtained by the genetic algorithm were applied to ARENA modeling, which is simulation software, and a simulation was conducted to derive result values on the basis of three criteria such as production volume, lead time and number of goods in-progress.
