The Computerized Procedure System (CPS) is one of the primary operating support systems in the digital Main Control Room. The CPS displays procedure on the computer screen in the form of a flow chart, and displays plant operating information along with procedure instructions. It also supports operator decision making by providing a system decision. A procedure flow should be correct and reliable, as an error would lead to operator misjudgment and inadequate control. In this paper we present a modeling for the CPS that enables formal verification based on Petri nets. The proposed State Token Petri Nets (STPN) also support modeling of a procedure flow that has various interruptions by the operator, according to the plant condition. STPN modeling is compared with Coloured Petri net when they are applied to Emergency Operating Computerized Procedure. A converting program for Computerized Procedure (CP) to STPN has been also developed. The formal verification and validation methods of CP with STPN increase the safety of a nuclear power plant and provide digital quality assurance means that are needed when the role and function of the CPS is increasing.
With the increase in the risk of GPS jamming, the development and application of anti-jamming GPS techniques have been actively performed. As the objective performance verification of developed techniques is important, equipment development for verification and discussion on anti-jamming performance test method and procedure have also been conducted. However, most tests are related to the specification of equipment and therefore detailed procedure of the performance verification of an anti-jamming system needs to be developed. In this study, requirements for anti-jamming performance verification were described, and test configurations and performance evaluation items depending on three kinds of test methods (lab test, basic outdoor test, and chamber test) were suggested for anti-jamming performance verification.
The purpose of this study was to describe the elementary teachers' teaching behavior procedure in verification-type laboratory instructions. In order to do this, we should know first what constituted the teaching behavior elements in the teachers' instructions, before the teaching behavior can be analyzed. Thirty sets of instructions were recorded and their transcripts were used in this study. The results of this study indicated that the number of teaching behaviors numbered twenty four in total, and that the teaching behaviors could be classified into nine categories, and finally the procedure used in verification-type laboratory instructions generally followed seven steps. These steps can be described as follows; reminding subjects of the preliminary learned concept, presenting inquiry type questions or introducing the main concept, explaining the method used or presenting the predictable outcome/matter for verification, performing lab-based activities, presenting the outcomes, applying the main concept, and finally closing the instruction. For the purpose of promoting more authentic scientific inquiries using these types of instructions, the authors's claims were discussed.

This paper considers a verification problem on EJB(Enterprise JavaBeans). We select SPIN as a automatic verification tool and consider an instance management specification of CMP(Container Managed-Persistence) entity bean. By showing the verification procedure, we can conclude that SPH can be used to verify EJB systems.
Purpose: This study was conducted to develop a timeout protocol as the process of patients verification in the operating room, and to evaluate its effects. Methods: The timeout protocol was developed based on the experience of practices and the universal protocol of JCAHO 2004. The subjects of this study were 192 surgical members working in the operating room at an university hospital in Daegu, Korea. Results: The timeout protocol was developed in six steps; participants verification, encouragement of compliance, verification of right 3 PSP, agreement of surgical team members, verification of the parties to a patient, patient agreement. The data which have been resulted from the experimental group show significantly higher than those of control group as follows; cognition(t = -6.580, p = .000), contents of performance; progress of anesthesiologist as leader(${\chi}^2$ = 29.029, p = .000), verification of right patient, right site and right procedure(${\chi}^2$ = 40.663, p = .000), participation of surgical team(${\chi}^2$ = 68.412, p = .000), and the number of cases of performance(${\chi}^2$ = 242.900, p = .000). Conclusion: It suggests that medical accidents caused by failures in a preoperative verification process can be prevented if a timeout is conducted active involvement and effective communication among surgical team members for a final verification of the correct patient, procedure, and site.
This paper introduces an adaptive and integrated utterance verification (UV) framework using minimum verification error (MVE) training as a new set of solutions suitable for real applications. UV is traditionally considered an add-on procedure to automatic speech recognition (ASR) and thus treated separately from the ASR system model design. This traditional two-stage approach often fails to cope with a wide range of variations, such as a new speaker or a new environment which is not matched with the original speaker population or the original acoustic environment that the ASR system is trained on. In this paper, we propose an integrated solution to enhance the overall UV system performance in such real applications. The integration is accomplished by adapting and merging the target model for UV with the acoustic model for ASR based on the common MVE principle at each iteration in the recognition stage. The proposed iterative procedure for UV model adaptation also involves revision of the data segmentation and the decoded hypotheses. Under this new framework, remarkable enhancement in not only recognition performance, but also verification performance has been obtained.

EC3 provides several methodologies for the stability verification of members and frames. However, when dealing with the verification of non-uniform members in general, with tapered cross-section, irregular distribution of restraints, non-linear axis, castellated, etc., several difficulties are noted. Because there are yet no guidelines to overcome any of these issues, safety verification is conservative. In recent research from the authors of this paper, an Ayrton-Perry based procedure was proposed for the flexural buckling verification of web-tapered columns. However, in order to apply this procedure, Linear Buckling Analysis (LBA) of the tapered column must be performed for determination of the critical load. Because tapered members should lead to efficient structural solutions, it is therefore of major importance to provide simple and accurate formula for determination of the critical axial force of tapered columns. In this paper, firstly, the fourth order differential equation for non-uniform columns is derived. For the particular case of simply supported web-tapered columns subject to in-plane buckling, the Rayleigh-Ritz method is applied. Finally, and followed by a numerical parametric study, a formula for determination of the critical axial force of simply supported linearly web-tapered columns buckling in plane is proposed leading to differences up to 8% relatively to the LBA model.
Among the many phases involved in software development, requirements analysis phase in generally considered to play a crucial role in determining the overall software quality. Therefore, many software development companies manages the phase as one of the important phase. Especially, safety assurance through requirements analysis for safety-critical systems is quite demanding, and national and international bodies routinely require safety demonstration. Among various approaches, inspection and formal methods are generally shown to be effective. In this paper, we propose a formal verification procedure for SCR(Software Cost Reduction)-style SRS(Software Requirements Specification) using the PVS specification and verification procedure and applied this procedure to an industrial system such that a shutdown system for Wolsung nuclear power plant. This system had been verified through inspection not formal verification. The application of formal methods is rare in Korea, so it is very important to experiment about formal verification to industrial systems.
This paper concerns an effective text-dependent speaker verification method to increase the performance of speaker verification. While various speaker verification methods have already been developed, their effectiveness has not yet been formally proven in terms of achieving acceptable performance levels. This paper proposes a weighted likelihood procedure along with a confidence measure based on subword-based text-dependent speaker verification. Our aim is to remedy the low performance problem in speaker verification by exploring a means to strengthen the verification likelihood via subword-based hypothesis criteria and weighted likelihood method. Experimental results show that the proposed speaker verification method outperforms that of the speaker verification scheme without using the proposed decision by a factor of up to 1.6 times. From these results, the proposed speaker verification method is shown to be very effective and to achieve a reliable performance.

Test procedure for the design verification of wind turbine pitch and yaw bearings has been developed. Test items were selected to evaluate operational reliability of pitch and yaw bearings by considering loading and operational conditions, and by analyzing the design criteria of pitch and yaw bearings. The developed test items consisted of preliminary test, fatigue load test, extreme load test, low temperature environmental test and dismantling inspection after all the test were completed. Because it reflects the actual operational conditions of the pitch and yaw bearings, the developed test procedure has high reliability and can verify the basic design considerations in the international standard and guidelines.
