Smart base isolation systems developed for structures in high seismic regions cannot be directly applied to structures in regions of low-to-moderate seismicity, such as Korea. Therefore, the problems that occur by applying the smart base isolation system for high seismic regions to the structures in regions of low-to-moderate seismicity have been investigated in this study. To this end, a five-story building is used as an example, and an MR damper and low damping elastomeric bearings were used to compose a smart base isolation system. Artificial earthquakes are simulated for ground motions in regions of high and low-to-moderate seismicity. Based on numerical simulation results, the MR damper capacity that can provide good control is quite different among regions of high and low-to-moderate seismicity. Moreover, it is noted that the properties of a smart base isolation system for the regions of low-to-moderate seismicity should be carefully designed because the base isolation effects of the smart base isolation system for high seismic regions deteriorate when it is applied to the structures in regions of low-to-moderate seismicity.

Objectives: This study aimed to provide the measures for improving the self-directed learning ability and the reference data for substantializing the educational programs by verifying the main factors affecting the self-directed learning ability of dental hygiene students in reality when the learners' autonomy is emphasized than ever. Methods: From June 20 to July 4, 2022, an online survey was conducted targeting total 218 dental hygiene students. The collected data was analyzed by using the SPSS Program Version 22.0. Results: First, in the results of analyzing differences in detailed items of self-directed learning ability according to the general characteristics, the 'students who entered the department of dental hygiene by considering their aptitude and interest' showed higher results than the 'students who entered the department by considering their high school record'. Second, when the academic efficacy, study immersion, and problem-solving ability of dental hygiene students were higher, their self-directed learning ability was also high. Third, the factor that had the greatest effect on self-directed learning ability of dental hygiene students was problem-solving ability, which was followed by academic efficacy and study immersion. Conclusion: Putting together the results above, in order to cultivate the problem-solving ability of dental hygiene students, it would be necessary to operate the problem-solving-centered simulation course that could foster critical thinking, interactions with others, and creative approach and solution to problems in dental medical site. It would be also possible to improve their academic efficacy by applying the learning mentoring & one-to-one learning counseling program, and also strengthening proper feedbacks for learners. Moreover, the study immersion could be strengthened by developing and operating the emotion-based learning motivation program & learning coaching program through the process of verifying the potential and growth needs of learners, exploring one's own resources through learning diagnosis/introspection, and exploring the career-related vision for strengthening the learning motivation, which could have positive effects on the improvement of self-directed learning ability.
The continuity of urban space is being destroyed by disorderly high-rise development caused by reckless development, and the resulting deterioration of urban landscape is emerging as a major problem. Disordered high-rise development is adversely affecting the urban environment, such as depriving residents of the basic rights of view and sunlight and privatizing the scenery that urban residents should enjoy together. In order to create a continuous urban landscape, indiscriminate high-rise development is restricted and compensation for the affected areas is needed. Various regulations have been carried out to this end, but it is difficult to overcome the pressure and damage to high-rise development by regulations alone. Accordingly, discussions have been underway to introduce a compensation system. Among them, discussions on the introduction of a 'Transfer of Development Right' (TDR) in which land ownership and development rights are separated and compensated for development rights have been drawing attention. However, in Korea, it is difficult to introduce the system due to various problems related to the separation of development rights. In order to overcome the limitations of the introduction of TDR, this paper analyzed the concepts and characteristics of 'Real Estate Investment Trusts' (REITs) and presented a policy model for the development right transfer system incorporating REITs for effective landscape management.

The utilization of Building Information Modeling (BIM) has increased in order to enhance the integration of information for management and resources throughout the construction projects. Therefore, various BIM softwares have been used under open BIM environments in the building and plant construction industry. However, it has obstructive factors due to the lack of interoperability. In order to address this problem, this study conducted an interoperability analysis of BIM software focused on user-defined properties for enhanced function and efficiency. Result of the analysis shows that authoring tools have more interoperability problems than viewer tools and simulation tools have. In terms of interoperability, user-defined properties outperforms than those of system basic properties and logic data. Therefore, it was found that functional improvement and workload minimization in BIM can be attained by applying the GBS (an user-defined property for automatic manipulation of BIM proposed by Jung et al. 2013) that enables automatic link between geometric data and non-geometric data. In this respect, this study concludes that the application of user-defined property (e.g. GBS) can be an effective method for information integration throughout construction projects.

A wall-frame type structural system has been widely used to make full use of a limited land in large cities to satisfy the several functional requirement in one building. However, this type of hybrid structure brought some problems due to the vertical discontinuity of a structural system. The response of a wall-frame type structural system having a deep transfer girder was observed. An arch system was introduced to replace the deep transfer girder. The adequacy of an arch system was observed for the various boundary conditions of a system. The proposed system was compared to a general transfer girder system by applying both gravity load and lateral load. It was observed that an arch system fairly distributes the stress without concentrating stress at a certain location of a system differently from the current transfer girder system. The moment decrement effect of a column can also be obtained by eliminating the large mass of a transfer girder. Also it was investigated that an arch system is more economical and effective than the current transfer girder system.

Mines are an important infrastructure for securing resources, but safety problems can arise in the course of operation. Recently, the mining process is very complicated due to the large scale and mechanization. Therefore, it is necessary to construct accurate geospatial information on mine for systematic and safe mine operation. The geospatial information construction using the existing total station has a disadvantage that a lot of work time is required because the target must be collimated and measured. In this study, the data of the mines were acquired with the total station and the 3D laser scanner, and the mine spatial information was constructed by using the shape based registration method. By using the static scanner data of some area applying the reference point surveying result of the total station, it was possible to construct the accurate result on the wide area acquired by the mobile scanner effectively. Also, the accuracy of the constructed geospatial information was evaluated and the deviation of mean 0.083m was shown. Point cloud products constructed through the research can contribute to the efficiency improvement of mine management by enabling quantitative analysis such as visualization of mine shape, distance, area and slope, and automation of drawing creation for cross section shape.

So far, the deep learning, a field of artificial intelligence, has achieved remarkable results in solving problems from unstructured data. However, it is difficult to comprehensively judge situations like humans, and did not reach the level of intelligence that deduced their relations and predicted the next situation. Recently, deep neural networks show that artificial intelligence can possess powerful relational reasoning that is core intellectual ability of human being. In this paper, to analyze and observe the performance of Relation Networks (RN) among the neural networks for relational reasoning, two types of RN-based deep neural network models were constructed and compared with the baseline model. One is a visual question answering RN model using Sort-of-CLEVR and the other is a text-based question answering RN model using bAbI task. In order to maximize the performance of the RN-based model, various performance improvement experiments such as hyper parameters tuning have been proposed and performed. The effectiveness of the proposed performance improvement methods has been verified by applying to the visual QA RN model and the text-based QA RN model, and the new domain model using the dialogue-based LL dataset. As a result of the various experiments, it is found that the initial learning rate is a key factor in determining the performance of the model in both types of RN models. We have observed that the optimal initial learning rate setting found by the proposed random search method can improve the performance of the model up to 99.8%.

Recently many Korean large-sized construction companies as well as specialty contractors have been expanding their business in the overseas market to mitigate impacts from long-term stagnation in the domestic market. Such as a result, it has been arisen as a major issue that contractors effectively manage the delays which have been commonly faced with in international mega-projects. Therefore it can be said that the ability of the delays management leads a success of project. This paper presents a review of literature for delay analysis methods such as time impact analysis(TIA) and raises practical problems to rationally substantiate the duration of extension of time(EoT) in international mega projects which have wide scope of works as well as complicated and detailed contract baseline programs by taking theoretical approaches. We suggest the two improvement concepts to substantiate the EoT claims which are effectively applicable to practical projects. The first is to sort out dominant delays among numerous delays in advance of applying a delay analysis. The second is to set up the delay sections with the advanced concept for analysing delays' effects by TIA. This study performed a case study on an actual international mega-project. to confirm the effectiveness of improvement concepts that this practical approach is applicable for the assessment of EoT. In conclusion, this paper supposes to provide practitioner in charge for an EoT claim with an advanced substantiation methodogy when they not only analyse the construction delays by using TIA, but also negotiate with stakeholders about with the assessment of EoT.

Over-urbanization has contributed to the increase in traffic problems. This makes the need for effective road planning and design more important than ever. I have been able to learn how to build a new road, and how to use it. However, in spite of the importance of good road planning, there are no systematic standards or methods for calculating traffic volume on railroad routes. Therefore, in this study, to strengthen the competitiveness of railroads, the concept of line capacity is introduced to railroads, and a clear standard and method for calculating railroad line capacity are presented. Based on the results, the line capacity of main railway lines for domestic railways was calculated. By applying the method of calculating the line capacity presented in this study, the capacity of existing railway lines and newly expanded routes can be calculated. It is expected that our findings will be able to provide systematic standards that can be applied to yield a more effective investment and design planning stage; the findings will also help improve the efficiency of railroad operation.

In this Research, in order to improve problems of not enough technical validation and structural and hydraulic stability evaluation when nature-friendly revetment block is applied to field, hydraulic stability evaluation according to hydraulic behavior change of porosity soil block for vegetation reinforcement that secures ecological function was reviewed. By selecting object section, numerical analysis and hydraulic model experiments were performed; for numerical analysis, by using 1-dimensional numerical analysis model HEC-RAS and 2-dimensional numerical analysis RMA-2, one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) numerical analysis were performed; by applying Froude's similarity law, reduced-scale hydraulic model experiments according to vegetation existence were performed. In hydraulic model experiment, for validity of experiment result, the result of velocity and tractive force of reduced-scale hydraulic model experiments was converted to prototype so that it can be compared and reviewed under the same condition of one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) numerical analysis result; as a result, it was confirmed that comparatively united result appeared, and by comparing prototype-converted tractive force result with revetment's allowable tractive force coming from an existing research, block's hydraulic stability was suggested.
