  • Recently, computer technique for the analysis of slope stability enable to reduce a considerable time and efforts. And also, stability problems can be approached by using stablility chart which was basically developed to handle the problems under simple conditions only. Most of the conventional slope stability computer programs and stability chart are still based on the general limit equilibrium method. 16 types of sample slopes and 2 types of failure slope were compared and analysed by stability charts and programs. This research work intend to apply 4 types of conventional computer programs based on the same theoretical backgroung and 7 types of stability charts for solving the same stability problems and the results and compared and analysed in order to justify their reliability.

  • Objectives The goal of the present study was to elucidate the characteristics of behavior problems in Sasang typology with child patients. Methods Subjects consisted of 176 (95 boys, 81 girls) children from 36 months to 83 months were diagnosed by two clinical experts in pediatrics and Sasang medicine. There were 22 So-Yang types, 141 Tae-Eum types, and 13 So-Eum types. The behavior problems were measured with Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and ANOVA (analysis of variance) was used for the analysis. Results There were no significant differences between Sasang types among subject's age (F(2, 173)=.190, p=.827) and sex (${\chi}^2$(2, N=176)=1.639, p=.441) as well as their mother's age (F(2, 169)=.060, p=.942) and education level (${\chi}^2$(4, N=172)=.394, p=.983) and their father's age (F(2, 168)=1.184, p=.309) and education level (${\chi}^2$(4, N=172)=5.664, p=.226). So-Yang types ($50.14{\pm}22.35$; $17.27{\pm}8.60$) had higher scores than Tae-Eum types ($38.74{\pm}21.32$; $12.62{\pm}7.98$) in total problems and internalizing problems score of the CBCL, respectively. More specifically, So-Yang types ($5.90{\pm}2.81$; $3.77{\pm}1.90$) had significantly higher depression/anxiety and somatization subscale score than Tae-Eum types ($4.04{\pm}2.73$; $2.30{\pm}2.12$). Scores of So-Yang types were significantly higher than those of CBCL clinical group in depression/anxiety and somatization subscales. Conclusions There were significant differences between child outpatients with different Sasang types, which would be taken into consideration concerning development of Sasang type diagnosis in addition to parenting, treatment, and prevention for children.

  • In general, two types fuzziness of human judgements should be incorporated in multiobjective programming problems. One is the expert's ambigjous understanding of the nature of the parameters in the problem formulation process and the other is the fuzzy goals of the decision maker for each of the objective functions. In this paper, we present a new interactive fuzzy approach for obtaining the satisficing solution which efficiently reflect both types of fuzziness. An illustrative numerical example nonlinear programming problems with fuzzy parameters is demonstrated along with the corresponding computer outputs.

  • We aimed to understand various problems identified at waterscape facilities of gardens built at garden shows in Korea. The main purpose of the study is to understand which parts of waterscape facility built in gardens at garden shows are causing problems and whether these problems can be traced back from garden design phase or from local communities in charge of maintenance. Furthermore, we examined if such problems get more aggregated as time passes by and different garden shows have different types of problems. In this study, types of waterscape facilities examined are pond, waterway, wall fountain, water glass, trough, mist, Cascade, fountain, rain garden, waterfall. An analysis of the maintenance status of waterscape facilities introduced in the existing gardens confirmed that problems could arise in two main respects. One is due to poor maintenance by the organizers of the garden show, and the other is due to the poor design of waterscape facilities by the garden designer.

  • The current study was carried out to determine the influence of different resting surfaces and stall types on milk yield and animal health. Study was carried out in Bursa that is one of the most important cities of Turkey in terms of dairy production. Effects of resting surfaces and stall types on milk yield were found to be important. Also influence of different resting surfaces and stall types on lactation length was examined and found that rubber mats were different from the two other options. Relationships between different resting surfaces or stall types and health problems were examined and connection between stall type and repeat breeding (RB), dystocia, retained placenta and a connection between resting surface types and RB and clinical mastitis were found to be important. Considering their economic reflections, it can be said that results are quite important to the Turkish dairy industry.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between error types and Polya's problem solving process. For doing this, we selected 106 sophomore students in a middle school and gave them algebra word problem test. With this test, we analyzed the students' error types in solving algebra word problems. First, We analyzed students' errors in solving algebra word problems into the following six error types. The result showed that the rate of student's errors in each type is as follows: "misinterpreted language"(39.7%), "distorted theorem or solution"(38.2%), "technical error"(11.8%), "unverified solution"(7.4%), "misused data"(2.9%) and "logically invalid inference"(0%). Therefore, we found that the most of student's errors occur in "misinterpreted language" and "distorted theorem or solution" types. According to the analysis of the relationship between students' error types and Polya's problem-solving process, we found that students who made errors of "misinterpreted language" and "distorted theorem or solution" types had some problems in the stage of "understanding", "planning" and "looking back". Also those who made errors of "unverified solution" type showed some problems in "planing" and "looking back" steps. Finally, errors of "misused data" and "technical error" types were related in "carrying out" and "looking back" steps, respectively.

  • The aims of mathematical education are to improve uniformity and rigidity, and to apply to an information age which our society demands. One of the educational aims in the 6th educational curriculum emphasizes on the expansion of mathematical thought and utility, But, The change of contents in the text appears little. This means that mathematical teachers must actively develop the new types of problems. That the interests and concerns about mathematics lose the popularity and students recognize mathematics burdensome is the problems of not only teaching method, unrealistically given problems but abstractiveness and conceptions. Mathematical Modeling is classified exact model, almost exact theory based model and impressive model in accordance with the realistic situation and its equivalent degree of mathematical modeling. Mathematical Modeling is divided into normative model and descriptive model according to contributed roles of mathematics. The Modeling Applied Problems in the present text are exact model and stereotyped problems. That the expansion of mathematical thought in mathematics teaching fell into insignificance appears well in the result of evaluating students. For example, regardless of easy or hard problems, students tend to dislike the new types of mathematical problems which students can solve with simple thought and calculation. The ratings of the right answer tend to remarkably go down. If mathematical teachers entirely treat present situation, and social and scientific situation, students can expand the systematic thought and use the knowledge which is taught in the class. Through these abilities of solving problems, students can cultivate their general thought and systematic thought. So it is absolutely necessary for students to learn the Modeling Applied Problems.

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the types and characteristics of health problems of middle school students in Gangwondo. Methods: The subjects of the study were 11 middle schools from 47 schools with nurse teachers in Gangwondo. The anecdotal records of the school health clinics were collected from March to December in 1998 with the agreement of nurse teachers of the schools. Results: 71.0% of the middle students visited the school health care clinics once or more than once. The mean frequency of health problems was 2.03 times per one year. The rate of health problems did not show any statistical differences by sex, school location, age, the day of the week and weather. However, there were statistical differences of the rate by month. The highest rate was showed in September, followed by June and April (F=2.52, p=0.01). Health problems were classified into 11 types. Gastrointestinal illness showed the largest proportion (60.6%). The oral illness showed statistical differences among the location of school, between municipal and rural area (t=-2.97, p=0.016). There were 411 types of signs and symptoms recorded. Among them, headache was showed the highest proportion with 2,122 cases (11.2%). Conclusion : The incidence rate of health problems was higher than that of earlier studies. It showed that the incidence rates and the types of diseasps in middle school students were different by school locations, characteristics of students, and months. To improve the qualities of primary cares in school health services, the reformed and unified anecdotal record system and the standardized guidelines for primary care are necessary.
