Housewife plays a significant role in maintaining a health family life. If she can not function adequately due to high stress, it will affect quality of life of the household members. It also interferes with the normal process of family development. Futhermore, dysfunctional family will have effects on morale of the servicemen in military. This is a descriptive study. The main purpose of this study is to compare the level and types of stress between a group of military wives and a group of civilian wives and provide a data which can be used to develop a stress management program. Sample consist with 250 military wives and 250 civilian wives residing in metro Seoul area. Data collection was done during October 4, 1994-November 30, 1994. Stress was measured with the instrument developed by the researcher. The cronbach's ${\alpha}$ score of the instrument was .91. The data was analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The results of this study are : 1. The stress score was 47.09 for military wives, 36.56 for civilian wives. The range of score was 0-192. The stress level of military wives was greater than civilian wives. (t=4.80, P<.000) 2. The rank order of stressors of military wives were 1) move 2) residential environment 3) purchase of house 4) holidays. The rank order of stressors of civilian wives were 1) husband late return after work 2) arguments with husband 3) holidays 4) husband's drinking problem. The result shows that the main stressors of military wives are frequent moves, residential environment, uncertainty of the future, unsafe work environment of husband, and the lack of private life which are all associated with the military. Therefore, it is urgently needed to distribute this facts through military journal to understand the characteristic of the stress of military wives, and to develope appropriate health care program to lessen the stress.
The OECD defines regulatory reform as both better regulation and deregulation, and emphasizes that governments must continue to regulate in areas such as environmental quality and safety. In contrast, Korean regulatory reform in fire services in the 1990s shows quite a strange trend, having been carried out only to the direction of softening and abolishing regulations. In the UK, fire prevention legislation has been strengthened since the enactment of the Fire Precautions Act 1971, and the Building Regulations 1991, which apply to all new buildings including a private house, require that there should be at least one smoke alarm on each floor. This research shows that the tightening of fire prevention legislation in the UK has promoted fire safety, which is very instructive for Korean fire services. In order for Korean fire services to protect citizens'lives and property from fires, one of basic directions of regulatory reform, to improve the quality of regulations relating to safety, health and the environment, should be observed strictly. Moreover, the flexibility of the basic direction of regulatory reform should be ensured so that the regulations concerning safety could be even increased under the overall reform strategy of reducing all regulations.
This study was carried out in order to verify the influence that social welfare trust organizational culture and level of empowerment. The study object 656 copies of guns were used to analysis to social worker engaged in to the community welfare agency, old man welfare agency, disabled welfare agency which was social welfare use facilities. Organizational culture and empowerment as it was for an independent variable analyzed correlation to trust and executed regression analysis to grasp a degree of an influence to be mad to trust. Research result, first, Organizational culture appeared to what I affected to trust social group culture, development cultural artist and second, Level of empowerment of social worker appeared to what I affected to trust own a task meaning result and self-determination. A rapid increase of the elderly population and changes in the social structure, family type and lifestyle bring us to the moment for considering the various aspects of supporting the elderly including the elderly housing facilities. Traditionally it is considered as a merit for a son to support parents in his own house. Hut recently the elderly increasingly want to live independently without support from their children. To satisfy these needs, new housing facilities for the elderly were developed by private non-profit foundations. A number of outstanding housing facilities for the elderly have been built in the last five years. These facilities show significant progress in housing for the elderly. Unfortunately, there u e no standard design checklists or guidelines for housing for the elderly available in Korea. The housing facilities were built based on foreign design guidelines or architect's experience. This research aims to develop an affordable design checklist that can meet the needs of the Korean elderly lifestyle. This study evaluated the senior residential facilities using Woo's checklist which consolidated the guidelines available here and abroad. As the result of this study, we presented the checklist subject in upper group $25\%, middle group, lower group $25\% distribution and 6, 5, 4, categories in order to importance. When designing the future senior residential facilities, a constraint can be made based on the scope and financial factors of the facility first and the determine how extensive the application of the checklist should be.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the state of Goryoin housing in Uzbekistan and Korea. Using ethnographic methodologies, it was examined that 20 Goryoin households in Korea in relation to their usage of housing space firstly and also tried 20 Goryoin households in Uzbekistan with the same method. The following conclusion were established; 1). The majority of households in both areas preferred separated kitchen and living room areas. 2). Most households in both areas had a washing machine in bathroom and they regarded bathtub and the drain hole of the bathroom as very necessary. They all preferred separate bathroom and toilet areas in order to allow simultaneous use. 3). Their preferred seating style was chairs on sleeping and eating especially but they treated large family and guest without chairs in both areas. 4). All of them were took their shoes off and wore slippers at home usually and also had a preference for designated shoes space at the entrance to the house. 5) All of households in Uzbekistan and half of them in Korea had a carpet or mat in the bedroom or living room, both for keeping warm and aesthetic reasons. 6). The heating system of apartment in Uzbekistan was radiator and most of private houses had a modified Ondol with radiator but their preferred heating system was modified Ondol in both areas. 7). They all considered the living room as the most important housing space for family and guest in both areas.
Permanent rental housing, the construction of which was strongly financed by the central government, is regarded as a social housing for those who fall within the lowest income bracket. Differing from "public rental housing", offered to tenants for sale after a five year rental period, this type of housing is intended for rental use on a long-tenn basis. At present, about 190,000 permanent rental housing units exist in Korea. According to a statistics, 15.6% of its residents did not pay their management fee and rental payment in 4 or more months in 2005, which places stress on the housing management. Based on the "eviction condition" stipulated in the tenancy agreement for permanent rental housing, a householder owning assets or a vehicle which is not used as his means of living, who is overdue with his management fee and rental payment for a long time, may be evicted from the house. However, there are many conflicts and problems between administrators/housing managers and residents in the process of enforcing this regulation. The purpose of this study is to explore the key issues associated with the present situation and the reasons why so many management fee and rental payment for permanent rental housing are overdue. For the purpose of research, data were collected from 10,990 permanent rental housing residents nationwide via a questionnaire survey in February 2007. One third of the respondents had an experience of more than 2 months overdue since they have moved in current residence. For further analysis, the respondents were divided into three groups, based on their working ability. The major finding showed that the group of respondents who have working ability required a more practical plan, such as employment, to have a sustainable life, while the other group of no labor force indicated a need for more housing allowance from the government. To suggest more specific alternatives for the subject of housing payment overdue, further comparison study should be performed between the residents of permanent rental housing and other low income tenants in private housing sector.

Urban style row-rise houses for rent have been supplied to the center of city from the 1950's first half The amount of stock is about 450,000 houses and occupies about 40% in the private rented house. As for the structure, the 60% of them is wooden-structure and the rest is non-wooden. Stocks of 57.5% of the wooden-structure and 86% of the non-wooden were built after 1981 years. It was 1981 years that the new earthquake-resistant standard was carried out, the improvement of stocks built before 1981 is necessary because those don't satisfy the present standard. To investigate the renovation possibility of urban style row-rise houses for rent, actual situation of two-story apartment at 2,4, and 5 Chome Taito-Ku in Tokyo was surveyed from July to November 2001. The number of building analyzed is 227 ridges among 234 ridges of the surveyed two-story building. 90% of building analyzed is wooden structure. 1) The site of 88% building surveyed is close to a road less than 4m width. It becomes the existing non-conformed building in the building construction act. It is impossible to make a renovation such as rebuilding, extension and remodeling because it requires the set back when renovating this type of non-conformed building, 2) The building built before 1981 is almost wooden-structure, and occupies 37% of the building surveyed, and doesn't satisfy the present earthquake-resistant standard. An improvement of them is needed because the decrepitude of building proceeds. 3) 50% of openings and 40% of windows of the building surveyed doesn't use noncombustible materials. Though it becomes the existing non-conformed building, it can satisfy the present standard by replacing openings with noncombustible materials.

To design senior housing that support residents' health is one of the comtemporary issues in Korea. As elderly people became more healthful and reach, people became interested in the health and health promotion. This trend encouraged this research study. The objectives of this study are: to analyze the middle aged people's opinions and behaviors related to health issues, and to suggest design considerations for senior housing. The survey used questionnaire from 476 residents living in Seoul and Gyeong-Gi area. The analysis used descriptive statistics, one-way anova and t-test. Primary findings are as follows: (1) Most of the respondents considered that their health state is 'good' and mental health is more important than physical health. (2) Many people exercise regularly for the promotion of health at a gym. (3) Results show that social relationship effect on health, and dietary life and walking medical examination account highly. (4) As the respondents are higher income and education level, the health-related behavior is more actively. Moreover the respondents who are women feel a great interest about health issues. These results suggest directions for planning of the senior housing. (1) Planning the space for the health-promoting behavior in the house or support a private gym-not a local facilities-. (2) Service for the information related health issues - medical examination, news of the health issues (3) Support the maintenance a good - social relationship (4) Consideration the space with health-related behavior like walking and dietary-life. The senior housing can reflect the health-related opinions and support health-related behavior of the elderly people.
The purpose of this study is to analyze characteristics of residential architecture designed by Gwathmey Siegel in terms of their way of composing spaces and forms. Charles Gwathmey, one of the founders of Gwathmey Siegel, is a worldly famous architect who actively developed Neo-Modernistic architecture in his career. For this study, 15 major houses designed by Gwathmey Siegel were selected and analyzed in terms of their approaches on how to compose various spaces and forms, and how these approaches evolved as time passed. The analysis was mainly based on the drawings and photos of the houses published. The main characteristics found in this study can be summarized as follows: elevated LDK level, split-level composition, use of framing structure, layered space, and linear galleries as a spine of circulation with collaged volumes attached. It turned out these characteristics appeared, faded away, or evolved affecting each other. In early days, Gwathmey often elevated LDK level from ground level for providing privacy, views, and also for separating private rooms. Soon they composed spaces by splitting levels. It not only helped provide privacy where needed effectively, but made space composition more interesting. As sizes of the houses they designed grew, Gwathmey came up with the framing idea for expressing his original architectural language in larger scale. With the split-level composition, the framing method represented Gwathmey's in 70's. This framing introduced layers of interior spaces, and the layers started to break down the monumental framing into individual volumes by bringing in linear spine of circulation. These characteristics helped Gwathmey Siegel develop their own architectural language.
Since 1982, the government of Korea has actively promoted vertical cooperative R&D programs between government-sponsored research institutes (GRIs) and private firms. A number of firms participated in the programs because cooperative R&D could lower the risk and could contribute to rapid commercialization of many technologies. This paper examines the effectiveness of vertical cooperative R&D projects by the modes of cooperation between GRIs and industrial firms, and analyzes the performance of participating firms' technology sourcing strategies for commercial utilization of cooperative R&D results at the project performed from 1982 to 1989 under the Government-Industry Cooperative R&D Program sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST) in Korea. The cooperative R&D projects are classified into 4 groups by two criteria, i.e., the level of participation of firms, and the breadth of cooperation. The findings suggest that firms should actively participate in cooperative R&D projects. In addition, in order to enhance commercial success, cooperation between GRIs and industrial firms should not be limited to R&D stage only. The breadth of cooperation should be extended to commercialization stage. Small- and medium-sized firms participating in vertical cooperative R&D projects in Korea usually lack internal technological capabilities that are needed to commercialize the results of cooperative R&D. Three different technology sourcing strategies - exclusive cooperative R&D strategy, in-house development augmented cooperative R&D strategy, and licensing-in supplemented cooperative R&D strategy - are empirically derived through cluster analysis of the relative usage rates cooperative R&D and of other supplementary technology acquisition methods. The findings suggest that the firms participating in vertical cooperative R&D projects should try to utilize other supplementary technology acquisition methods in order to achieve commercial utilization of the vertical cooperative R&D results.
