Developing an Optimization Module for Water, Energy, and Food Nexus Simulation

  • A nation-wide water-energy-food (WEF) nexus simulation model has been developed by the authors and successfully applied to South Korea to predict the sustainability of those three resources in the next 30 years. The model was also capable of simulating future scenarios of resources allocation based on priority rules aiming to maximize resources sustainability. However, the process was still relying on several assumptions and trial-and-error approach, which sometimes resulted in non-optimal solutions of resources allocation. In this study, an optimization module was introduced to enhance the model in generating optimal resources management rules. The objective of the optimization was to maximize the reliability index of resources by determining the resources' allocation and/or priority rules for each demand type that accordingly reflect the resources management policies. Implementation of the optimization module would result in balanced allocation and management of limited resources and assist the stakeholders in deciding resources' management plans, either by fulfilling the domestic production or by global trading.

중요도-만족도 격차분석을 이용한 품질 속성의 우선순위 결정 (Prioritizing quality attributes using I-S Gap analysis)

  • Purpose: To obtain the area for improvement, the Importance-Performance analysis(IPA) uses relatively simple questions, that is, satisfaction and importance at attribute level. However, no attempt has been made to consider the gap between own company's performance and those of competitors in IPA, in the field of quality management. This study is aimed to suggest a new prioritizing method for improvement and to test for validity of the proposed technique. Methods: This study used data collected from Song and Lim(2015), which is satisfaction of employees, customers and competitors as well as importance data for 7 quality attributes of K animal hospital. A correlation comparison with other priority methods such as Bacon(2003)'s model and Matzler and Hinterhuber(1998)'s QI index is conducted. Results: The priority results by the proposed method shows better in correlation coefficient with customer perceived priority for improvement than other methods. Conclusion: From the result of the current study, it can be concluded that the result of the proposed method is valid, while it is relatively easy to understand and analyze, and therefore no additional survey is necessary for improvement priority.

안전한 도로 공사구간 환경 구축에 필요한 기술의 우선순위 선정 (Prioritization of Potential Technology for Establishing a Safe Work Zone Environment)

  • PURPOSES : This study prioritizes potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment on roadways. We consider almost all conceivable technologies that enable mitigation of unexpected accidents for both road workers and drivers. METHODS : This study suggests a methodology to set the priority of potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment by using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). For this purpose, the AHP structure was first developed. Thereafter, a web-based survey was conducted to collect experts' opinions. Based on the survey results, weights associated with the relevant criteria of the developed structure were estimated. With the consistency index (CI) and consistency ratio (CR), we verified the estimated weights. In addition, a sensitivity analysis was performed to confirm whether the estimated weights were reliable. We finally proposed the priority for potential technology for establishing a safe work zone environment on roadways. RESULTS : In the first level, safety technology has the highest priority, and real-time information delivery for work zone, hazard warning for drivers, and temporal automated operation for traffic facilities were selected in the second level of hierarchy. CONCLUSIONS : The results imply that establishing the priority will be useful to establish a future road map for improving the work environment for road workers and drivers by employing appropriate protection facilities and developing safety systems.

  • A good business performance measurement system is an effective tool io sustained growth in profits. Although interest in creating performance measurement models is widespread, a well-designed system is rare. To be successful in today's competitive environment, a performance measurement system should incorporate strategic success factors and contain financial and non-financial measuring index to carry out strategic management. In the 1990s, Kaplan & Norton introduced a concept called the Balanced Scorecard. The Balanced Scorecard supplements traditional financial measures with criteria that measured performance from three additional perspectives - those perspectives of customers, internal business processes, and learning and growth. This paper presents five measuring index criteria for each perspective. To calculate the relative priority for These measuring index, we investigate weights investigated by interviews with management consultant. Then, AHP method is employed for calculating priority weight. Our evaluation model may be referred to as the Balanced Analytic Hierarchical Performance Model(BAHPM) in the sense that the analytic hierarchical scheme, along with the AHP, is applied. The BAHPM is the first kind of analytical model to cover a wide variety of measures. In comparison with previous evaluation models, our model shows strengths in structural flexibility, ease of incorporating feedback, group evaluation capacity, participation promotion, sensitivity analysis, and computational simplicity. A prototype based on the BAHPM can be applied to various industry sectors.

AHP 분석을 이용한 사물주소 부여대상의 상대적 중요도에 대한 전문가와 일반인의 인식 비교분석 (Public and Experts Perception Analysis about Relative Importance of Address of Things Using AHP)

  • Recently the meaning of the road name address is expended as an information through the revision of the Road Name Address Act. As this revision, the address of things (AoT) become more important indicating the possibility for the expansion to the related business. However, recent study about AoT does not concern how the current priority system works from the first research. In this study, we analyze perception about addressable object between AoT experts and public using AHP analysis. We structured the importance of addressable objects as two categories; urgency and value creation. The necessity in emergency or daily, accessibility and welfare conform the urgency index. Meanwhile, public value creation in public domain or profitability in the business area and economics conform value creation index. We conducted survey for total of 89 of experts and public. The results of this study indicate the relative importance of AoT measured by experts and public. Generally, public tend to concern more about accessibility conforming the urgency index than experts. Moreover, the public WiFi and the sports complex scored the high priority among the remain addressable objects, in respect of the urgency and the value creation. This result could be implemented for the activation of the smart city industry base on the geospatial information including AoT.

교통안전시설의 효율적 운영관리를 위한 평가지표 개발 (Development of Evaluation Indicators for the Efficient Operation and Management of Traffic Safety Facilities)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구는 교통안전시설의 신뢰성 있는 정보제공과 운영관리를 위한 평가지표를 개발하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 분석 방법은 현재 교통안전시설 운영관리 현황을 파악하여 평가지표를 선정하고 AHP 조사를 통해 각 지표의 중요도를 분석하였다. 연구결과: 종합 중요도 분석 결과, 정보 정확성과 전산체계 구축 수준에 대한 평가지표에서 우선순위가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 서비스 관리부분에 해당하는 평가지표는 우선순위가 가장 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과는 효율적인 교통안전시설 운영관리를 위해 각 기관별 관리 수준을 파악할 수 있는 척도가 될 것으로 보이며, 향후 자율주행 상용화를 고려하여 정확한 정보 제공을 위한 기반을 구축할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

가로수 선정 평가기준과 세부지표의 중요도 분석 (Analysis of the Priority of Evaluation Criteria and Detailed Index for Selecting Street Trees)

  • 가로수는 도시환경개선과 환경회복기능, 그리고 차단된 도시녹지의 연결통로로 소생태계 서식처 제공의 역할 등 녹색 네트워크의 핵심 및 자연성 회복의 수단으로 중요성이 더욱 강조되고 있다. 그러나 가로수는 일반적으로 도시환경에 적응이 우수한 몇 가지 수종을 선별하여 대단위 식재를 해오고 있어 전 세계적으로 편중화에 대한 문제가 지적되었다. 본 연구는 가로수 선정을 위한 평가기준과 세부지표를 마련하고, 계층적 분석기법(AHP:analytic hierarchy process)을 통해 그 중요도를 도출하였다. 가로유형별 중요도를 보면 상업가로는 경관향상성이 0.2640, 세부지표는 수형이 0.1245로 가장 높았다. 업무가로도 경관향상성이 0.2496, 세부지표는 수형이 0.1177로 가장 높아 상업가로와 유사한 결과를 보였다. 주거가로는 시민편의성이 0.2250, 세부지표는 수형이 0.0936으로 가장 높았다. 일반생활가로는 유지관리성이 0.2479, 수형이 0.1062이었다. 역사경관가로는 지역특성이 0.3488, 세부지표는 상징성이 0.1586, 기념성이 0.1095로 높았다. 생태네트워크가로는 생태계균형성이 0.4266, 세부지표는 종다양성이 0.1643, 자생종이 0.1556으로 높았다. 자동차중심가로는 대기오염저감성이 0.4639, 세부지표는 배기가스 저감이 0.1928, 미세먼지 저감이 0.1765, 이산화탄소 저감이 0.0945로 높게 나타났다. 가로유형별 세부지표 중 수형의 중요도가 공통적으로 높았는데, 이는 가로의 위치 특성 상 가로 경관에 대한 중요성에 대해 높이 인식하고 있는 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구는 가로수 수종 선정 시 가로유형별 특성을 고려하여 평가기준과 세부지표를 설정하고 중요도의 정량적 기준 제시를 통하여 객관적 수종 선정 기준을 도출하였다.

IEEE 802.11e EDCA 네트워크 혼잡 환경에서 RTS/CTS 프레임을 이용한 동일 우선순위 충돌 회피 알고리즘 (A Same-Priority Collision-Avoidance Algorithm Using RTS/CTS Frame in IEEE 802.11e EDCA under Network Congested Condition)

  • IEEE 802.11e EDCA(Enhanced Distributed Channel Access)는 서로 다른 AC(Access Category)에 따라서 CW(Contention Window)를 이용하여 Quality-of-Service(QoS)를 지원한다. 그러나 무선 네트워크 환경이 혼잡 (Congested)할 경우 패킷의 충돌 발생 확률을 높일 수 있다는 문제점이 여전히 존재한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 여러 방법들이 제시되었으나 혼잡 네트워크상에서는 동일 우선순위를 가지는 패킷 전송을 위해서 전송 채널을 이용하는 경쟁 과정에서 패킷 충돌(Collision)이 발생할 확률이 여전히 존재한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 EDCA 포화 상태에서 전송 효율을 높이는 APCA(Advanced Priority Collision Avoidance) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 IEEE 802.11e 표준을 기반으로 RTS/CTS (Request to Send / Clear to Send)를 이용하여 패킷 전송 FC(Frame Control) 필드의 예약된 필드(Reserved Field) 비트를 이용하여 데이터 패킷 충돌을 회피하는 것이다. 시뮬레이션의 결과로 제안된 알고리즘이 기존의 EDCA에 비해 패킷 전송 실패율이 감소했음을 보였다. Jain's fairness index를 이용하여 제안된 APCA 알고리즘이 네트워크 혼잡 상황에서 EDCA 방식 보다 공정성을 유지하는 것을 확인하였다.
