Today the automobile has been changed from a mechanical system to an electronic control system fly the development of the electronic technology. In the automobile body, most of these electronic control devices are networked and managed fully by the CAN protocol. But, when a network system is overloaded, unexpected transmission delay for relative low priority objects occurs due to the static priority definition of the CAN protocol. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes a dynamic precedence queue mechanism that creates a queue for the low priority object and its relevant objects to be transmitted, which becomes urgent in an overloaded network system to keep the maximum allowable time delay. For the generated queue, the highest priority is assigned to transmit the queued objects within the shortest time. The mechanism is implemented in the logical link layer of CAN, which does not require any modification of the old CAN hardware. Effectiveness of the proposed mechanism is verified by the real experiments with an automobile network system.

Backoff mechanism serves as one of the key technologies in the MAC-layer of wireless mobile networks. The traditional Binary Exponential Backoff (BEB) mechanism in IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) and other existing backoff mechanisms poses several performance issues. For instance, the Contention Window (CW) oscillations occur frequently; a low delay QoS guarantee cannot be provided for real-time transmission, and services with different priorities are not differentiated. For these problems, we present a novel Multi-Priority service differentiated and Adaptive Backoff (MPAB) algorithm over IEEE 802.11 DCF for wireless mobile networks in this paper. In this algorithm, the backoff stage is chosen adaptively according to the channel status and traffic priority, and the forwarding and receding transition probability between the adjacent backoff stages for different priority traffic can be controlled and adjusted for demands at any time. We further employ the 2-dimensional Markov chain model to analyze the algorithm, and derive the analytical expressions of the saturation throughput and average medium access delay. Both the accuracy of the expressions and the algorithm performance are verified through simulations. The results show that the performance of the MPAB algorithm can offer a higher throughput and lower delay than the BEB algorithm.
This paper proposes a priority-based duplicate burst transmission mechanism in an optical burst switching network to enhance the probability of successful reception of bursts. The performance of the proposed mechanism is evaluated by NS2 simulations. Our results show that the burst loss rate is improved especially under light traffic loads.

In this paper, we proposed and analysed two kinds of priority control mechanism to archive the cell loss rate requirement and the delay requirement of each class. The service classes of our concern are the high time priority class(class 1) and the high loss priority class(class 2). Two kinds of priority control mechanism is divided by the method of storing the arriving class 2 cell in buffer on case of buffer full. The first one is the method which discarding the arriving class 2 cell, the second one is the mothod which storing the arriving class 2 cell on behalf of pushing out the class 1 cell in buffer. In the proposed priority schemes, one cell of the class 1 is transmitted whenever the maximum K cells of the class 2 is transmitted on case of transmitting the class 1 cell and the class 2 cell sequentially. In this paper, we analysed the cell loss rate and the mean cell delay for each class of the proposed priority scheme by using the Markov chain. The analytical results show that the characteristic of the mean cell delay becomes better for the class 1 cell and that of the cell loss rate becomes better for the class 2 cell by selecting properly the cell transfer ratio according to the condition of input traffic.

In this paper, we propose active queue management mechanism (Active-WRED) to guarantee quality of the high priority service class in multi-class traffic service environment. In congestion situation, this mechanism increases drop probability of low priority traffic and reduces the drop probability of the high priority traffic, therefore it can improve the quality of the high priority service. In order to analyze the performance of our mechanism we introduce the stochastic analysis of a discrete-time queueing systems for the performance evaluation of the Active Queue Management (AQM) based congestion control mechanism called Weighted Random Early Detection (WRED) using a two-state Markov-Modulated Bernoulli arrival process (MMBP-2) as the traffic source. A two-dimensional discrete-time Harkov chain is introduced to model the Active-WRED mechanism for two traffic classes (Guaranteed Service and Best Effort Service) where each dimension corresponds to a traffic class with its own parameters.

ATM networks provide the various kinds of service which require the different Quality of Services(QoS) such as loss and delay. By statistically multiplexing of traffics and the uncertainty and fluctuation of source traffic pattern, the congestion may occur. The leaky bucket scheme is a representative policing mechanism for preventive congestion control. In this paper, we analyze the HOL(Head-of-Line) priority leaky bucket scheme. That is, traffics are classified into real-time and nonreal-time traffic. The real-time traffic has priority over nonreal-time traffic for transmission. For proposed mechanism, we obtain the system state distribution, finally the loss probability and the mean waiting time of real-time and nonreal-time traffic. The simple numerical examples also are presented.

In the communication network, multimedia service such as high quality voice, high speed data, image etc. will be added to the existing service. This service generates new requirements for the communication networks. The priority control mechanism can be used to control multimedia traffics generated by many communication systems. The priority mechanism which assigns prioirities to generated cells according to service quality is one of the traffic control. The priority assignment can be divided by priority criterion for each traffic characteristics such as loss sensitivity and delay sensitivity. In this paper, we alnalyzed the partial buffur sharing (PBS) mechani느 as a traffic control reducing the cell loss, and proposed analysis method. We analyzed the PBS mechanism using classical approach as a Markov chain. In order to validata proposed analysis method, simulation is performed using simulation package SIMSCRIPT 11.5. From this results, we confirmed that proposed analysis method can be verified. Also, we presented cell loss probability of ATM network when this results are to be applied to ATM networks.

ATM switch handles the traffic for a wide range of appliations with different QOS(Quality-of-Service) requirements. In ATM switch, the priority control mechanism is needed to improve effectively the required QOS requirements. In this paper, we propose a priority control mechanism using the cell transfer ratio type and discard threshold in order to archive the cell loss probability requirement and the delay requirement of each service class. The service classes of our concern are the service class with high time priority(class 1) and the service class with high loss priority control mechanism, cells for two kind of service classes are stored and processed within one buffer. In case cells are stored in the buffer, cells for class 2 are allocated in the stored and processed within one buffer. In case cells are stored in the buffer, cells for class 2 are allocated in the shole range of the buffer and cells for class 1 are allocated up to discard threshold of the buffer. In case cells in the buffer are transmitted, one cell for class 1 is transmitted whenever the maximum K cells for class 2 are transmitted consecutively. We analyze the time delay and the loss probability for each class of traffic using Markov chain. The results show that the characteristics of the mean cell delay about cells for class 1 becomes better and that of the cell loss probability about cells for class 2 becomes better by selecting properly discard threshold of the buffer and the cell transfer ratio according to the condition of input traffic.

In this paper, we proposed cell priority control with 2-level thresholds, which was considered cell loss and cell delay requirement, in ATM switch with output buffer. Priority control mechanism presented in this paper improved cell loss rate for cell loss censitive cell and cell delay for delay censitive cell. In this mechanism cell loss rate and mean cell delay of cell priority control mechanism were obtained theoretically. The results show that cell loss rate and mean cell delay improvement become better by adjusting two thresholds according to QOS characteristics.
We propose a new space priority mechanism, and analyze its performance in a single Constant Bit Rate (CBR) server. The arrival process is derived from the superposition of two types of traffics, each in turn results from the superposition of homogeneous ON-OFF sources that can be approximated by means of a two-state Markov Modulated Poisson Process (MMPP). The buffer mechanism enables the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) layer to adapt the quality of the cell transfer to the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements and to improve the utilization of network resources. This is achieved by "Selective-Delaying and Pushing-ln"(SDPI) cells according to the class they belong to. The scheme is applicable to schedule delay-tolerant non-real time traffic and delay-sensitive real time traffic. Analytical expressions for various performance parameters and numerical results are obtained. Simulation results in term of cell loss probability conform with our numerical analysis.
