  • In this paper, a fundamental experiment regarding the formation of porous 3D structures for personal safety products using 3D PPP (Porous Polymer Printing) was introduced for the first time. The filament was manufactured by mixing PP (Polypropylene) and CBA (Chemical Blowing Agent) with polymer extruder, and the diameter of the filament was approximately 1.75mm. The proposed 3D PPP method, combined with the conventional FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) procedure, was influenced by process parameters, such as the nozzle temperature, printing speed and CBA density. In order to verify the best processing conditions, the depositing parameters were experimentally investigated for the porous polymer structure. These results provide parameters under which to form a multiple of 3D porous polymer structures, as well as various other 3D structures, and help to improve the mechanical shock absorption for personal safety products.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of surface polishing and fabrication method on the flexural strength of temporary restorative resin. Materials and Methods: Each of four fabrication methods was used to make 30 temporary restorative resin specimens and the specimens were divided into two groups depending on whether they were polished by mechanical polishing. Specimens were stored in 37℃ thermostat for 24 hours. Flexural strength was measured using a universal testing machine (UTM). The data obtained through the experiment were analyzed with Two-way ANOVA, Tukey's HSD test and Paired t-test. Results: CAD/CAM milling group showed the highest flexural strength regardless of surface polishing. In decreasing order, the flexural strength of the other fabrication method group was as follows SLA 3D printing, DLP 3D printing, and Conventional method group. Conclusion: Surface polishing did not affect flexural strength of the temporary restorative resin (P > 0.05). However, there were statistically significant differences in flexural strength depending on fabrication method (P < 0.05).

  • Recently, various clothing items are being developed using 3D printing technology, but comfort has become an issue while wearing them for a long time. Therefore, this study researched on how the temperature and humidity of the devices developed by 3D printing change depending on the material combination. Five types of material combinations (EVA foam, TPU density 10%, TPU density 30%, EVA foam+TPU density 10%, and EVA foam+TPU density 30%) were selected as variables, and the experiment was conducted for two different cases with and without a cover. All the ten types of samples were placed on the hot plate set at 36℃, and the surface temperature and humidity were measured at three different points for 10 minutes. As a result, the case with only TPU showed the greatest temperature change while the case with 100% EVA foam showed the least temperature change. The humidity of the surface layer gradually decreased with time for 100% EVA foam. For the case with TPU materials, the moisture was transferred to the surface layer at first, thereby increasing the humidity but then dropped significantly. Meanwhile, the cases with the cover on showed similar tendencies of change in both temperature and humidity where the overall temperature and humidity delivery were slow.

  • This study applies various surface patterns to minimize material loss in construction equipment that is subject to severe wear due to sand, such as the wear-resistant steel plates of dump trucks or the teeth of excavators. The relationship between surface morphology and wear behavior is investigated using PLA+ polymer to observe the effect of the surface pattern. Five types of samples - smooth, concave, convex, wavy concave, and wavy convex designs - are created using a 3D printer. A wear experiment is conducted for a duration of 3 h using 6.5 kg of abrasive particles. The mass loss of the samples after the experiment is measured to assess the extent of wear. Additionally, the surface morphology of the samples before and after the experiment is analyzed using SEM and confocal microscopy. The study results reveal that the smooth design exhibits the highest wear loss, whereas the concave and wavy concave designs show relatively lower wear loss. The convex and wavy convex designs exhibit varying contact areas with the abrasive particles depending on the surface pattern, resulting in different levels of wear. Furthermore, a comparison between the experimental results and DEM simulations confirms the observed wear trends. This study reveals the relationship between wear damage according to surface pattern shape and is expected to be of substantial help in the analysis of wear and tear on agricultural and heavy equipment.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the main factors and attributes of psychological evaluation to noise. For this purpose, a psycho-acustic experiment was conducted by using the method of rating scale. 52 subjects were participated in the experiment, 20 stimuli were presented to subjects in random order with 23 adjectives. As a result of factor analysis, it was found that the primary factors for evaluating the quality of noise subjectively are four factors of unpleasantness, intensity, irregularity, and sharpness. And, as a result of MDPREF(multi-dimensional analysis of preference data), it was found that the noise sources including the factors of unpleasantness, intensity, and irregularity are related to the sounds of hammering in construction field, car horn, road traffic, idling of car, and printing by computer printer, and the factor of sharpness are the sounds of car siren, claps of thunder, car horn, and snowstorm etc.

  • Coarse aggregate is produced in various ways depending on the location and production method. Currently, the construction industry is in need of a stable supply of coarse aggregate and a way to secure standard quality. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the use of coarse aggregate in 3D printing can help solve this problem. ABS filament was selected for use in 3D printing. CATIA was used for the design of the coarse aggregate, and CUBICON Single Plus was used for the production. Six specimens were produced and cured in water for 28 days. Three of them were made with AE agent, and three were made without it. A compressive strength test confirmed that when the AE agent was used, the compressive strength was greater than the lightweight concrete design criterion specified in the concrete standard specification. This suggests that coarse aggregate produced by a 3D printer may be used for lightweight concrete. A mass production system using this method could help to solve the problems facing the construction industry, such as stable supply and demand for coarse aggregate and securing standard quality.

  • Recent 3D printing technology has been grafting onto various medical practices. In light of this trend, this research is intended to examine the figuration surface's accuracy of 3D images made by using DICOM images after printing by 3D printing. The medical images were obtained from animal bone objects, while the objects were printed after undergoing STL file conversion for 3D printing purposes. Ultimately, after the 3D figuration, which was obtained by the original animal bones and 3D printing, was scanned by 3D scanner, 3D modeling was merged each other and the differences were compared. The result analysis was conducted by visual figuration comparison, color comparison of modeling's scale value, and numerical figuration comparison. The shape surface was not visually distinguished; the numerical figuration comparison was made from the values measured from the four different points on the X, Y and Z coordinates. The shape surface of the merged modeling was smaller than the original object (the animal bone) by average of -0.49 mm in the 3D printed figuration. However, not all of the shape surface was uniformly reduced in size and the differences was within range of -0.83 mm on the experiment.

  • In this study, an experiment was conducted to analyze mortar based rheology for 3D printing method application. The tendency of rheological properties due to the change of W/B, binder type, replacement ratio, and super plasticizer which have a great influence on the flow characteristics of concrete was experimentally analyzed. Experiments were carried out by dividing into paste and mortar. In the paste experiment, rheology was analyzed by setting W/B, binder type, replacement ratio, and super plasticizer dosage as main variables. In the mortar experiment, the rheological properties of W/B and sand ratio were analyzed. As a result, as the W/B was increased, the viscosity decreased and the FA ratio to replace FA increased and the viscosity increased. In order to increase the fluidity, substitution of only 5% of SF reduces the shear stress and the viscosity is reduced by about 83%. Mortar rheological evaluation shows that there is a critical section where a large change occurs in the W/B 30 to 40% section. Also, in the same W/B, it is analyzed that there is a critical section where the shear stress increases more than twice in the sand ratio of 50~60%.
