  • Samsung Electro Mechanics ink jet has developed ultra high resolution alignment system. The alignment system has been developed for repeatable printing of conductive ink. The resolution of alignment system is 0.5um and the velocity of printing working plate is 1.5m/s. So far repeated printing results included sintering process have over 30um of drop mislocation data. In order to improve line thickness and conductivity of metal line, we need to develop the higher mechanical accurate align system. On the demand, this developed align system has under $1{\sim}2{\mu}m$ mispositioning performance and can measure of mechanical accuracy of inkjet printer, as well as the straightness of jetted drop from inkjet head. There is no kinds limit of substrate and ink to use SEM alignment system. By using this alignment system, we progress two experiment of reiterate printing drop and making conductive line on the glass and photo paper. Optical microscope and 3D profiler has been used for measurement of printed ink.

  • It was confirmed that anthracnose pathogen, Colletotrichum acutatum, could specifically grow on PDA amended with $100\mu\textrm{g}$ /ml of ampicillin and tetracycline, and 100 $100\mu\textrm{g}$/ml of mixture with carbendazim and diethofencarb. There was a positive correlation between the number of colony enumerated on semi-selective media and the disease severity on pepper fruits caused by C. acutatum. Using semi-selective media for C. acutatum, the number of pathogen on soil and plant debris infected by anthracnose pathogen was investigated. In plant debris, the colony number of C. acutatum was more than in soil. For the identification of colony appeared on semi-selective media, 10 isolates were selected randomly. They were identified as C. acutatum through PCR using C. acutatum-specific primer.

  • In this study, we investigated the effects of tube voltage (kVp) and tube current (mAs) on an exposure index (EI) applied to a digital radiography. There used an inverter type digital X-ray generator and an image receptor (IR) utilized a portable wireless detector without a grid. Radiographic images were acquired using a cone pyramid phantom produced using a 3D printer. The X-ray tube voltage was increased from 40 kVp to 120 kVp with 10 kVp increment, and the tube current was increased from 1 mAs to 128 mAs with the twice increment. As a result, kVp had logarithmic relationship with the EI as high $R^2$ value, and mAs had a very high linear relationship too. Also, there was a high correlation between the area dose and the EI of the IR, with the $R^2$ value being 0.76 or more. In conclusion, it had showed that mAs affected the EI linearly, and that it could be advantageous to adjust the easy-to-predict mAs to maintain proper image qualities.

  • All-on-six concept can be used as one of the treatment options to maximize the use of available residual alveolar bone for implant-supported fixed prosthesis on edentulous patients. But this process is complex and cumbersome. Digital system can be used at multiple steps, from implantation to prosthetic restoration, to overcome this shortcoming. In this case of a maxillary edentulous patient aged 76, digital system was used for restoration of 1-piece design, screw retained fixed prosthesis from diagnosis, implant surgery to fabrication of provisional and final prosthesis. For preoperative diagnosis and treatment planning stage, intra-oral information of a patient was digitalized by direct intra-oral scan. Surgical guide and immediate provisional prosthesis was designed based on this digitalized data. Patient's inconvenience was minimized by applying immediate provisional prosthesis, which was delicately fabricated according to the location data of six implants on most suitable residual alveolar bone. Then, final prosthesis was designed and fabricated going through new interim prosthesis which was newly designed and fabricated, considering patient's requests, stable vertical dimension and occlusion, and esthetic factors using digital system. We hereby report a case successfully applying digital system to multiple steps including implant surgery to fabricating prosthesis, to simplify existing complicated implant treatment procedure to an edentulous patient.

  • Wrist braces are being used for patients with wrist trauma. Recently, many studies have been conducted to manufacture custom wrist braces using 3D printing technology. Such 3D printing customized orthosis has the advantage of reflecting various factors such as reflecting different shapes for each individual and securing breathability. In this paper, the stress on the orthosis by the number and position of Velcro bands that should be considered when manufacturing a 3D printing custom wrist brace was analyzed. For customized orthosis, 3D modeling of the bone and skin regions was performed using an automatic design software (Reconeasy 3D, Seeann Solution) based on CT images. Based on the 3D skin area, a wrist orthosis design was applied to suit each treatment purpose. And, for the elasticity of the brace, a wrist brace was manufactured with an FDM-type 3D printer using TPU material. To evaluate the effectiveness according to the number and position of the Velcro band of the custom 3D printed wrist brace, the stress distribution of the brace was analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). Through the finite element analysis of the wrist orthosis performed in this study, the stress distribution of the orthosis was confirmed, and the number and position of the orthosis production and Velcro bands could be confirmed. These experimental results will help provide quality treatment to patients.

  • Objective : Recently, three-dimensional (3D) printed models of the intracranial vascular have served as useful tools in simulation and training for cerebral aneurysm clipping surgery. Precise and realistic 3D printed aneurysm models may improve patients' understanding of the 3D cerebral aneurysm structure. Therefore, we created patient-specific 3D printed aneurysm models as an educational and clinical tool for patients undergoing aneurysm clipping surgery. Herein, we describe how these 3D models can be created and the effects of applying them for patient education purpose. Methods : Twenty patients with unruptured intracranial aneurysm were randomly divided into two groups. We explained and received informed consent from patients in whom 3D printed models-(group I) or computed tomography angiography-(group II) was used to explain aneurysm clipping surgery. The 3D printed intracranial aneurysm models were created based on time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography using a 3D printer with acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene resin as the model material. After describing the model to the patients, they completed a questionnaire about their understanding and satisfaction with aneurysm clipping surgery. Results : The 3D printed models were successfully made, and they precisely replicated the actual intracranial aneurysm structure of the corresponding patients. The use of the 3D model was associated with a higher understanding and satisfaction of preoperative patient education and consultation. On a 5-point Likert scale, the average level of understanding was scored as 4.7 (range, 3.0-5.0) in group I. In group II, the average response was 2.5 (range, 2.0-3.0). Conclusion : The 3D printed models were accurate and useful for understanding the intracranial aneurysm structure. In this study, 3D printed intracranial aneurysm models were proven to be helpful in preoperative patient consultation.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the flexural strength of provisional fixed dental prostheses which was three-dimensional (3D) printed by several build directions. Materials and Methods: A metal jig with two abutment teeth and pontic space in the middle was fabricated. This jig was scanned with a desktop scanner and provisional restoration was designed on dental computer-aided design program. On the preprocessing software, the build angles of the restorations were arranged at $0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, and $90^{\circ}$ and support was added and resultant structure was sliced to a thickness of $100{\mu}m$. Processed restorations were printed with digital light processing type 3D printer using poly methyl meta acrylate-based resin. After washing and post-curing, compressive loading was applied at a speed of 1 mm/min on a metal jig fixed to a universal testing machine. The maximum pressure at which fracture occurred was measured. For the statistical analysis, build direction was set as the independent variable and fracture strength as the dependent variable. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc analysis was conducted to compare fracture strength among groups (${\alpha}=0.05$). Result: The mean flexural strength of provisional restoration 3D printed with the build direction of $0^{\circ}$ was $1,053{\pm}168N$; it was $1,183{\pm}188N$ at $30^{\circ}$, $1,178{\pm}81N$ at $45^{\circ}$, $1,166{\pm}133N$ at $60^{\circ}$, and $949{\pm}170N$ at $90^{\circ}$. The group with a build direction of $90^{\circ}$ showed significantly lower flexural strength than other groups (P<0.05). The flexural strength was significantly higher when the build direction was $30^{\circ}$ than when it was $90^{\circ}$ (P<0.01). Conclusion: Among the build directions $0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, and $90^{\circ}$ set for 3D printing of fixed dental prosthesis, an orientation of $30^{\circ}$ is recommended as an effective build direction for 3D printing.

  • The maker movement is a phenomenon of society and culture where people who make necessary things come together and share knowledge and experience through creativity. However, as the maker movement has grown rapidly over the past decade, there is still a lack of consensus for how far they will be viewed as a maker movement. We need to look at how the maker movement has changed so far in order to find the direction of development of the maker movement. This study analyzes the media articles using text-based big data analysis methodology to understand how the issue of the maker movement has changed in general media. In particular, we apply Keyword Network Analysis and DTM(Dynamic Topic Model) to analyze changes of interest according to time. The Keyword Network Analysis derives major keywords at the word level in order to analyze the evolution of the maker movement, and DTM helps to identify changes in interest in different areas of the maker movement at three levels: word, topic, and document. As a result, we identified major topics such as start-ups, makerspaces, and maker education, and the major keywords have changed from 3D printer and enterprise to education.

  • 3D printing technology is expected to be an innovative technology of the manufacturing industry during the 4th industrial revolution, and it is being used in various fields including biotechnology and medical field. In this study, we verified the printing materials through Monte Carlo simulation to evaluate the radiation shielding ability of the raw material using this 3D printing technology. In this paper, the printing materials were selected from the raw materials available in a general-purpose FDM-based 3D printer. Simulation of the ICRU phantom and the shielding system was carried out to evaluate the shielding effect by evaluating the particle fluence according to the type and energy of radiation. As a result, the shielding effect tended to decrease gradually with increasing energy in the case of photon beam, and the shielding effect of TPU, PLA, PVA, Nylon and ABS gradually decreased in order of materials. In the case of the neutron beam, the neutron intensity increases at a low thickness of 5 ~ 10 mm. However, the effective shielding effect is shown above a certain thickness. The shielding effect of printing material is gradually increased in the order of Nylon, PVA, ABS, PLA and TPU Respectively.
