  • This study was conducted to better understand the effect of the classroom literacy environment on the young children's vocabulary abilities, and the concepts of print matter. The subjects consisted of 276 children aged 3 to 5 enrolled in 93 classrooms in child-care centers and kindergartens. The Early Language & Literacy Classroom Observation Pre-K (Smith, Brady, & Anastasopoulos, 2008), the Picture Vocabulary Test (Kim, Jang, Yim, & Bae, 1995) and the Concepts About Print (Kim & Kim, 2004) were used for the purposes of this study. The data collected were analyzed by means of ANOVA, and regression analysis. The results indicated that the vocabulary abilities and print-concepts of children aged 3-5 were more likely to increase when a rich classroom environment was provided for the children's literacy development. In particular, it was found to be important for children's language and Literacy development to provide them with an enriched 'language environment' within the classroom, the quality of 'books and book reading', and the active utilization of 'print and early writing' all being important elements of this.

  • Print mottle is the spotty and cloudy appearance of the ink on the substrate. Print mottle is influenced significantly by the characteristics of the paper with regard to homogeneity of its structure and its coating. The print mottle can be counteracted, in particular by altering the absorption characteristics of the inks, by changing sequence in which the inks are printed, or by using a advanced coated paper. In this study, we investigated the effect of ink dispersion to the print mottle through trial printing test and also analyzed the correlation between properties of coated paper and subjective results by statistic method. The result of this study is expected to be applied the basic data to solve the problem of printing mottle.

  • To classify the foot type, direct measurements, metatarso-phalanx angle and foot print angle of the right and left foot were measured and analyzed. The results are as follows. 1. The correlation coefficients between right and left foot were high degree, and except medial malleous height, the diffences between right and left foot are not significant. 2. The correlation coefficient among direct measurements of the foot are high degree, tut the correlation coefficients between direct measurements and metatarso-phalanx angle and foot print angle are no or low degree. Therefore, to recognize the foot type, the direct measurements, metatarso-phalanx angle and foot print angle need to be measured independently. 3. According to foot width/foot $length{\times}100$ which is the slender degree of foot, three groups are distinguished: one is slender type of which foot width/foot $length{\times}100$ is less than $40.14\%$, two is standard type of which foot width/foot $length{\times}100$ is $40.14\%{\~}44.30\%$, three is broad type of which foot width/foot $length{\times}100$ is more than $44.30\%$. 4. On the photographs metatarso-phalanx angle was measured, and two groups are distinguished: one is normal type of which the metatarso-phalanx angle is more than $160^{\circ}$ and the other is the deformed type of which the metatarso-Phalanx angle is less than $159^{\circ}$. 5. By foot print angle $30^{\circ}$ which need reformation of the foot, two groups are distinguished: one is normal foot print angle of which the angle is more than $30^{\circ}$ and the other is flat foot print angle of which the angle is less than $30^{\circ}$. 6. Classifications by foot width/foot $length{\times}100$, metatarso-Phalanx angle and foot Print angle are put together, and then foot types are classified into 12 groups such as Table 11.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in children's reading abilities of environmental print and phonological awareness by children's age and the relationship between children's reading abilities of environmental print and phonological awareness. The subjects were 90 children, 3 to 4 years of age. The Children's Reading Abilities of Environmental Print Scale (CRAEPS) developed by Son (2012) and Phonological Awareness Scale (PAS) revised by Choi (2007) were used to measure children's reading ability of environmental prints and phonological awareness. The results of this study were as follows: Firstly, 4-year-olds performed significantly better than 3-year-olds on the environmental print reading tasks. Also, 4 year-olds scored significantly higher than 3-year-olds in syllable counting, syllable deletion, and phoneme substitution. Secondly, children's scores on the environmental print reading tasks were positively correlated with phonological awareness. In other words, the 3-year-olds who could read environmental prints better got higher scores in syllable counting and the 4-year-olds who could read environmental prints better got higher scores in syllable counting, syllable deletion, and phoneme substitution.

  • This study reports the results of an exploratory investigation into building number technique applied by a sample of novice students using Electronic Dewey(ED). For control purposes, a second sample used the same classification schedule but in print format. In this experiment, the DDC 20 in print had a higher success rate than ED. While the searches in ED took shorter time than DDC in print, students using DDC 20 in print were able to build more correct numbers than ED. Novice users did not take full advantage of system features of ED. Therefore, it is important to note the overall difficulty with which users could build numbers from the ED after little training. However, it is interesting to note that the students in the CD-ROM group were more interested in building numbers than their colleagues in the Print group. The correlation between the grade of English course and the score in experiment was negative in Print group. And the correlation between GPA and the score in experiment was a little positive. The correlation between the time and the score in experiment was quitenegative.

  • In this paper, the technique for production and encoding of new dot-type print watermark is proposed. The print watermark has characteristics similar to those of the digital watermark and function as link which change various first informations(texts, symbols, figures, etc) on the printed matter to secondary contents (sound, video, character, etc) corresponding each to informations on the printed matter. The proposed dot-type print watermark pattern is represented as $16{\times}16$ matrix in $0.4mm^2$ area and dots are printed on only 23 elements of $16{\times}16$ matrix. The size of each dot is so small(0.02mm)that it can not be seen. Because position of printed dots correspond to the position of each digit in binary notation in this paper, they are encoded easily and there are about 8,000,000 watermark patterns enough to express first information of printed matters. It was showed that the proposed print watermark patterns are recognized without difficulty by the own recognition device.

  • A different and effective method for indoor positioning system is needed and increased it's importance compare to the outdoor GPS based method. The FingerPrint positioning method is known as a superior method in indoor positioning system that maintains signal strength patterns for RPs(Reference Points) in database and compare the DB with the measured real-time signals on the mobile device. FingerPrint positioning method is necessary to establish an accurate database, but errors can occur by several factors. In this paper, we analyze the signal patterns of each terminal in accordance with connection state of access point and trace that the error in accordance with connection state of access point can be an important error in FingerPrint DB configuration through an experimental case study.
