  • This study aims on finding a direction of desirable space organization of future elementary school in Korea by analyzing current status of space organization of elementary school in Japan. In this study comparison and analysis of curriculum of Korea and Japan, facility standards on national level and standards of national subsidy, current status of number of schools and students, transition of changes in facility area of elementary school for last 10 years are included. In Korea and Japan each 7 elementary schools which were constructed after 2007 and are good in space organization and school planning are selected. The comparison and analysis of satisfaction level on physical educational conditions and facilities such as current status of space organization and how to use them are conducted in this study. The contents of analyzing space organization are 'entry and placement, outdoor space', 'space program' and 'phase structure and organization of unit space'.

  • The Purpose of this study was to present the procedures and methods of ordering theory, and to search for a learning hierarchy among science process skills in each Piagetian cognitive reasoning level. One of the purpose of this is not to determine the clear and exact hierarchy but rather to demonstrate how ordering theoretic methods and procedures can be used to determine the hierarchy of logical relationships among a set of test items or the testing of a hypothesized hierarchy. Ordering theory was used to analyze five science process skills collected from 509 high school students. Ordering Theory has as its primary intent either the testing of hypothesized hierarchies among items at the determination of hierchies among items. Hierarchical relationships were identified within five science process skills. The results will be helpful in giving useful inform at ions to classroom teachers and science curriculum developer.

  • The private security has been one of the fastest growing parts of the law enforcement industry, confronted with mutual coincidence or complementarity. Therefore, the primary factor in order to straighten it up should be bringing op a person, because he or she arranges the private security, based on the society in the end. In addition, it is suggested that further study of technical learning and its practice should be arranged. Because the education for agents undertaking the social security is comprehensive in space and limited in time, it may accompany hardship in arranging its content and curriculum Although this article leaves much to be desired, it has been analyzed end observed if a greater emphasis is placed on ample human resources supply for increased demand on social security in private law enforcement industry through institutional education system. A scientific advancement is expected to be attained in the majors related to the private security, with validity that the continuous studies should be implemented, and a social role of colleges as a specialized institute should be erected.

  • Review of the global change in various energy usages and resulting environmental impacts were made in terms of population increase, economic development and energy consumption. Greater use of fossil fuels in past couple of centuries give rise to acid rain and gradual climate changes mainly due to Green House inducing gases emissions from fossil fuel combustion. In view of the forthcoming Kyoto conference in December, various alternative options were assessed. To cope with rapidly developing robust Korean economy, the alternative energy options for the sustainable development in 21st Century would be the wider use of Nuclear Energy in parallel with constrained use of fossil fuel and renewable energy development. However there are many hurdles to overcome. One of the most important element is to improve public acceptability of those alternatives. Since public acceptance depend heavily upon individual perception on specific energy technology applications, the basic energy technologies education from primary up to high school education and the related curriculum organization is important. The suggested improvement in education for Nuclear Energy Application was made on the basis of advanced industrial countries with substantial Nuclear Energy Application programs.

  • Informationization is fast progressing in Korean and the informationization of education is also moving ahead fast. With informationization of education going fast ahead, cyber education is also increasing. Given such scenario, we should establish countermeasures not only to accommodate the current curriculum but also to accommodate the surplus school facilities created by cyber education by compartmentalizing the classrooms for future life-long education, lease and sale in lots. In conclusion, the school construction plan should be established to systematically cope with the future changes systematically.

For this purpose, the embodiment method based on Confucianism was conceptualized and compared with the existing methods of instruction. The research was conducted by dividing into 3 groups such as embodiment group, discussion group and usual group with 161 subjects of 4~5 years old preschool children. Six week program was composed from "Yangjungpyon(養正篇)" and was compared to the curriculum of kindergarten and primary school as the educational content. To measure the effectiveness of the Confucian method, the Test of Basic Life Habituation and Autonomy Rating Scale were used. The result showed that the embodiment group which followed the present method was more effective than the other two groups of existing usual methods in both ages.

  • Asian mathematics curricula and textbooks are being recognized in the United States as at least partial explanation for the higher mathematics achievement of students in Asian countries compared to students in the United States. As a result there is considerable interest among many educators in the United States in curricula from Singapore and curricula from Japan. In addition, researchers and educators at one university in the American heartland have been using the English translations of a Korean primary mathematics curriculum for professional development and assessment with groups of Missouri teachers for the purpose of enhancing teachers' understanding of the fundamentals of mathematics, and in hopes of raising student achievement scores. A professional development initiative begun seven years ago and revived this year will entail a rigorous assessment which will be reported in 2009. Results of assessment of the earlier initiatives are reported here.

  • There were a lot of challenges to reform mathematics education. These challenges may include reforms of teaching and learning methods, development of mathematics curriculum and textbooks, innovative resources for teaching mathematics. Although there is considerable consensus that meeting these challenges will require that mathematics teachers have deep insights about mathematics, about students as learners of mathematics, and about teaching method, the teachers themselves may have little knowledge of them. The most of the professional development includes elective participation in reeducation course, workshop, and special lectures which designed to transmit a specific set of ideas, techniques, or materials to teachers. But such approaches treat mathematics teaching as routine and technical, and also provide limited opportunities for meaningful interactions within the teaching community. So, this paper suggests that what is needed to develop professional teachers of mathematics is community where teachers work with colleagues rather than working alone.

  • Based on the contents of probability and statistics areas in the seventh curriculum, we developed a statistics education model programmed by visual basic for upper grade students of elementary schools. The model that was consisted of ten modules can be easily manipulated by elementary schools students. The objects with a variety of colors are presented on P.C monitor and dynamic functions are performed by clicking a mouse. According to the survey after using the model, students positively evaluated the contents and characteristics and showed great interest in the model. We will upload the execution files of the model on our homepage. One can download and use them free.
