아날로그 광전식 연기감지기 비화재보 개선에 대한 연구 (Study of the Improvement of False Fire Alarms in Analog Photoelectric Type Smoke Detectors)

  • 화재감지기는 화재를 조기에 감지하여 관계인에 통보함으로써 자산보호 및 인명안전에 중요한 역할을 한다. 따라서 화재를 조기에 탐지할 수 있는 성능과 비화재보를 발생하지 않는 신뢰성이 중요하다. 최근 공동주택 오피스텔 숙박시설 노유자시설 의료시설 등과 같이 취침, 숙박, 입원 등 이와 유사한 용도로 사용되는 거실에는 조기화재 감지를 위한 연기감지기를 설치하도록 국가 화재안전기준이 개정되어 연기감지기의 적용이 증가되고 있다. 반면 현재 비화재보를 예방하기 위한 연구가 부족하다. 본 연구는 아날로그 광전식 연기감지기의 순간적으로 발생되는 먼지 등으로 인해 발생되는 비화재보를 예방하기 위한 알고리즘 개선과 감지기의 자기보상기능을 통해 감지기의 오염과 화재신호를 구분할 수 있도록 개선하였다. 본 연구를 통해 최근 수요가 증가하는 아날로그 광전식 연기감지기의 비화재보 개선으로 제품의 신뢰성을 확보하여 비화재보로 인한 경제적 손실을 예방할 것으로 기대된다.

Elevator Pressurization in Tall Buildings

  • During a building fire, smoke can flow through elevator shafts threatening life on floors remote from the fire. Many buildings have pressurized elevators intended to prevent such smoke flow. The computer program, CONTAM, can be used to analyze the performance of pressurization smoke control systems. The design of pressurized elevators can be challenging for the following reasons: (1) often the building envelope is not capable of effectively handling the large airflow resulting from elevator pressurization, (2) open elevator doors on the ground floor tend to increase the flow from the elevator shaft at the ground floor, and (3) open exterior doors on the ground floor can cause excessive pressure differences across the elevator shaft at the ground floor. To meet these challenges, the following systems have been developed: (1) exterior vent (EV) system, (2) floor exhaust (FE) system, and ground floor lobby (GFL) system.

  • The fact that the major cases of life casualties are from smoke in the fire accidents and the expected steep increase of skyscrapers, huge spaces, multiplexes and huge scaled underground spaces demand establishment of efficient smoke countermeasure. In pressure differential systems for smoke management, the speed of airflow through open door between accommodation and lobby should be maintained over 0.5m/s on the whole area of door to prevent smoke from infiltrate into evacuation root when the door is open for refuge. The numerical analysis on features of airflow through open door are carried out and the results are presented.

  • Recently, large-scale fires have been generated as urban buildings have become more and more density. Especially, the expansion of smoke in buildings due to high-rise is an problem, and the smoke is the main cause of death in fires. Therefore, in this paper, the image-based smoke detection is proposed through deep learning-based artificial intelligence techniques to prevent possible damage if existing detectors are not detected. In addition, the detection model was not configured simply through only the smoke data set, but the data set in the haze form was additionally composed together to compensate for the accuracy.

청소년의 간접흡연이 정신건강에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Secondhand Smoke on Mental Health in Adolescents)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of secondhand smoke on depression and suicidal ideation in adolescents. Methods: The study used the raw data of the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (2018). Age, academic achievement, living with family, economic status, and stress were adjusted and the relationship between secondhand smoke and depression and suicidal thoughts was analyzed by gender. Results: The results showed that secondhand smoke had a significant effect on mental health of adolescents. Male students who experienced secondhand smoke at school and at public places had 1.41 times and 1.37 times higher depression rates, respectively. Female students who experienced secondhand smoke at home, school, and public places had 1.27 times, 1.35 times, and 1.39 times higher depression rates, respectively. Suicidal thoughts were 1.17 times and 1.22 times higher among male students who experienced secondhand smoke at school and at public places. Female students who experienced secondhand smoke at home, school, and public places had 1.12 times, 1.08 times, and 1.21 times more suicidal thoughts. Conclusion: Secondhand smoke has a significant effect on adolescent depression and suicidal thoughts. Therefore, efforts should be made to have institutional changes and increased awareness across the country, such as homes, schools, and communities, to prevent exposure to secondhand smoke.

자연흡기식 디젤 기관의 연소와 매연 배출 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Study on the Combustion and Smoke Emission Characteristics of the Natural Aspiration Type Diesel Engine)

  • We made a selection of engine operating conditions in the natural aspiration type diesel engine as load and speed. The effects on the power, smoke emission and cylinder pressure characteristics of these variations in operating conditions were observed experimentally. Also, the smoke emission was predicted by using the Arrhenius equation and empirical equation of the smoke emission was made. At the same time, the correlations, between the combustion and smoke emission characteristic were examined. From the above results, it is clear that to prevent power dropping and to decrease exhaust fume whin the conditions are changed, one should improve the intake system. To do this, the best way is to lower the air-fuel mixing ratio. We found that the parameters of the indicated mean effective pressure, maximum pressure and its location and combustion duration, etc. change the motion in accordance with the conditions described above. Also, we found that the variation of the pressure cycle comes from an amplified variation of the early part of process. From the analysis of comparing combustion and exhaust fume, the exhaust fume is produced at the latter time of combustion and decreased when the combustion ratio is higher. Also, we developed a special formula which can predict the exhaust fume value according to the engine load and speed.

합성곱 신경망을 이용한 이미지 기반 화재 감지 시스템의 구현 (Implementation of Image based Fire Detection System Using Convolution Neural Network)

  • 화재 재해를 예방하기 위해 조기 화재 탐지 기술의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 화염 및 연기를 감지하기 위해 열, 연기 및 불꽃에 대한 센서 감지 장치가 널리 사용되고 있으나, 이 시스템은 센서 주변 환경의 요소에 따라 제한된다. 이 문제들을 해결하기 위해 다수의 이미지 기반 화재 탐지 시스템이 개발되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 카메라 입력 이미지로 부터 합성곱 신경망을 이용하여 연기 이미지와 불꽃 이미지에 대한 학습을 통해 특징 맵을 추출하고, 이를 사용하여 다른 입력 이미지를 연기와 불꽃으로 분류하는 이미지 기반 화재 감지 시스템을 구현하였다. 다양한 조건의 이미지를 대상으로 실험한 결과 연기와 불꽃으로 분류하는데 우수한 성능을 보여주었다.

화재열차의 역사 접근 시 PSD가 설치된 역사 제연을 위한 환기장치 운전 비정상상태 해석 (A transient CFD simulation of ventilation system operation for smoke control in a subway station equipped with a Platform Screen Door(PSD) when a train under fire is approaching the station)

  • The heat and smoke which generated by subway under fire is one of the most harmful factor in air tighten underground station. To prevent this, Trackway Exhaust System(TES) can be used. The heat released from the train running in the tunnel raises the temperature at the platform and the trackway, and thus proper ventilation system is required for comfortable underground environment. When the fire is occurred, TES is operated as smoke exhaust mode from normal ventilation mode. In the present study, the subway station which is one of the line number 9 in Seoul subway is modeled, and fired situation is simulated with several ventilation mode of ventilation system in trackway. For this simulation whole station is modeled. Non steady state 3D simulation which considered train under fire is entering to the station is performed. Temperature and smoke distribution in platform and trackway are compared. To represent heat by fire, heat flux was given to the fired carriage, also to describe smoke by fire, concentration of CO is represented. As the result of present study, temperature and smoke distribution is different as the method of ventilation in trackway and platform is changed. In over side of trackway, the fan must be operated as exhaust mode for efficient elimination of heat and smoke, and supply mode of fan operation in under side shows better distribution of heat and smoke. The ventilation system which is changed from ventilation mode to exhaust mode can be applied to control heat and smoke under fire.

자연 및 강제 배기시의 터널 내 연기거동에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of Smoke Movement in Tunnel Fire with Natural and Forced Ventilations)

  • In order to design of emergency ventilation systems, the smoke movements in tunnel fire with natural and forced ventilation were investigated. Reduced-scale experiments were carried out under the Froude scaling with novel fire source consisting many wicks. Temperature profiles were measured under the ceiling and vertical direction along the center of the tunnel and poisonous gases were measured at emergency exit point in the natural ventilation case. In forced ventilation, temperature profiles were measured with various flow rate to obtain critical velocity. The results showed that the interval of emergency exit having 225m was estimated reasonably through the measurements of temperature variation and poisonous gas in the natural ventilation. In the case of forced ventilation, the temperature distribution near fire source is remarkably different from that of natural ventilation. Also, the critical velocity to prevent upstream smoke flow has the range of 0.57m/s between 0.64m/s. Finally, it was also identified that although the increase of flow rate can suppress the backward flow of smoke to upstream direction, brings about the increase of flame intensity near stoichiometric fuel/air ratio.

The Protective Effect of Ginseng and Aloe Extract against Cigarette Smoke-induced Hepatotoxicity

  • The preventive effects of ginseng and aloe extract on cigarette smoke-induced hepatotoxicity to Spague-Dawley rats were investigated. The experimental rats were exposed smoke by inhalation for 5 weeks, 3 times per day, and 15 minutes each time. Also ginseng and aloe extract (Group G+A), aloe (Group A) or ginseng (Group G) were administered to each group, but the positive control rats (Group C) were exposed smoke without any other special treatments. Group C showed decreased food intake and increased water consumption. Also the reduction of body weight and the increase in serumAST, ALT, triglyceride and alkaline phosphatase were observed. The relative liver weights of group C were increased and the hepatic parenchyma revealed light brownish red grossly. On histopathologic observation, the hepatocytes of group C animals exhibited diffuse swelling which narrowed the, sinusoidal lumen and disarrayed the hepatic cord-like arrangement. Diffuse necrosis of the hepatocytes was also observed. However, degeneration and necrosis of the hepatocytes were milder in group G+A. In the case of group A, the damage was moderate, while the group G showed marginal improvement from group C. Electronmicroscopically, peroxisome increased and mitochodria decreased in group C. Various hepatic damages related to smoking in group C revealed recovering tendency in group G+A. This study indicated that daily administration of ginseng and aloe could decrease and even prevent cigarette smokeinduced hepatotoxicity.
