Unsafe behavior is one of the major causes of construction accidents. Managing the behavior of workers in real-time is difficult and requires huge manpower. In this paper, a new real-time locating framework is proposed to improve safety management by collecting and analyzing data describing the behavior of workers to identify habits that may lead to accidents. The aim of the study is to identify working habits of workers based on their location history. Location data is used to compare with that of other workers and equipment. The results indicate that the reuse of real-time location data can provide extra safety information for safety management and that the proposed system has the potential to prevent struck-by accidents and caught-in between accidents by predicting unwanted interaction between workers and equipment. This adds to current research aimed at automating construction safety to the point where the continuous monitoring, managing and protection of site workers on site is possible.

Marine pilot occupational accidents during transfer to/from the ship are at the top of the agenda after several safety campaigns by IMPA and individual attemptsThere is multiple transfer method for the marine pilot, but a most common way is to use the pilot cutter. This paper aims to predict marine pilot occupational accidents before it occurs by using historical data. Since the problem depends on several variables, this paper develops a model by using the random forest method to predict marine pilot accidents before happening with the random forest method by using RStudio software

Purpose: This study examines the persistent occurrence of railway accidents despite numerous safety devices, highlighting the multifaceted nature of these incidents. Research design, data and methodology: Utilizing the 4M analysis method, the research investigates a decade's worth of accident reported from the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board to identify risk factors and suggest mitigation measures. Results: The analysis reveals that 57% of railway accidents are attributed to human factors, followed by mechanical (28%), environmental (7%), and management (8%) factors. Conclusions: The study underscores the necessity of prioritizing safety and establishing a unified organizational approach to prevent human error accidents. It calls for an alignment of risk perception between headquarters and field operations, advocating for educational and perceptual changes, as well as systematic improvements to achieve safety goals.
The total number of passengers for Line $1{\sim}4$ operated by Seoul Metro among subways that act as foot of Seoul residents was 1.43116 billion passengers in 2006 and average of 3.921 million passengers per day. The results of analysis on safety accidents that occurred recently in subways show that various complaints on subways were reduced through the expansion of safety related facilities and training but accidents caused by negligent handling by employees including engineers are increasing on the contrary. At present time where various man-made accidents break out such as wrong handling and habits of engineers in charge of driving trains and momentary mistakes, there needs effort for active management and improvement to prevent and minimize accidents. Therefore, this study has drawn out problems through surveys on aptitude test system to engineers and compared with case studies in overseas. Thus, it attempted to minimize safety accidents in subways, and derived methods for improving safety management by focusing on improving the current aptitude test system for nurturing engineers suitable to handle railway driving in the future.
The workers of limestone industry have relatively higher rate of accident and injury than other industry workers. This survey was conducted to provide the informations for the planning of safety and health educations to prevent the accident and injury. The purpose of this study is to identify the morbidity rate per month and to determine the related health factors, and to find accident experiences of the limestone workers and to analyze the reasons and types of that accidents. The study design was a descriptive survey. Self reporting questionnaires developed by researcher were used for data collection. The subjects of this study were 225 workers in limestone industries in Jecheon city. The statistical methods utilized for data analysis were frequency analysis, $x^2$-test with SPSS-pc(ver.9.0). The results are as follows, 1. The workers morbidity rate per month was 22%, and morbid factors were Flu., G-I trouble, hypertension, orthopedic trauma, external wound, burn, etc., and the related health factors are self-assessment for health, exercise, accessability for medical facilities. 2. 40% of the subjects have experienced the accidents during last 6 months. The types of the accidents were safety violations, traffic accidents and fire accidents. Injury types were external wounds, fracture/amputation and burn. The workers of limestone industry have higher morbidity rate and experiences of accidents. Therefore the more increased safety and health educations than now for both the workers and the managers are needed. And this study could be helpful to increase the quality and the quantity of the educations needed.
Due to the rapidly aging population, the death rate of elderly people by safety accidents has been increasing. In particular, precautions are needed for falls prevention because they either directly or indirectly cause death. In the case of elderly people, most of the fall accidents occur in dense residential areas, and particularly, the staircase poses a risk of falling. Therefore, a safety assessment should be performed from the design phase. However, in general, staircases are designed using existing stair data or only aims to satisfy the installation criteria. Laws and regulations only define minimum requirements for safety, so it is not possible to prevent fall accidents even if they satisfy the requirements. Therefore, this study proposes a simulation-based method for evaluating the safety of staircases. The behavioral characteristics of the elderly are implemented to an virtual user in a virtual space including staircases, and fall accidents are evaluated by the evaluation logic related to the behavioral characteristics. The result shows that the safety of staircases can be preevaluated and reflected on the design to reduce the possibility of fall accidents of the elderly.
Many researches and analyses have been focused on industrial accidents in order to predict and reduce them. As a similar endeavor, this paper is to develop an expert system for prevention of industrial accidents. Although various previous studies have been performed to prevent industrial accidents, these studies only provide managerial and educational policies using frequency analysis and comparative analysis based on data from past industrial accidents. As an initial step for the purpose of this study, this paper provides a comparative analysis of 4 kinds of algorithms including CHAID, CART, C4.5, and QUEST. Decision tree algorithm is utilized to predict results using objective and quantified data as a typical technique of data mining. Enterprise Miner of SAS and Answer Tree of SPSS will be used to evaluate the validity of the results of the four algorithms. The sample for this work was chosen from 10,536 data related to manufacturing industries during three years$(2002\sim2004)$ in korea. The initial sample includes a range of different businesses including the construction and manufacturing industries, which are typically vulnerable to industrial accidents.
The quantity of the fuel gas consumed is trending upwards because it can be easily delivered but isn't deteriorated and doesn't have any environmental pollution. Though there are many advantages to use the fuel gas, it can be hesitated to consume more gas because of its explosiveness and combustibility. So paying more attentions to prevent the fuel gas accidents is required. In this paper, we examine the present situation data about the fuel gas accidents and analyze them statistically using ANOVA. we confirm that there is an acceptable difference between the mean values of accidents classified by the kind of gas, the cause, the type and the place but isn't by month. It is expected that our result can be applied as preliminary data when mapping out a strategy for preventing the fuel gas accidents.
The major objective of the statistical analysis about industrial accidents is to determine the safety factors so that it is possible to prevent or decrease the number of future accidents by educating those who work in a given industrial field in safety management. So far, however, there exists no quantitative method for evaluating danger related to industrial accidents. Therefore, as a method for developing quantitative evaluation technique, this study presents feature analysis of industrial accidents in manufacturing field using QUEST algorithm. In order to analyze features of industrial accidents, a retrospective analysis was performed on 10,536 subjects (10,313 injured people, 223 deaths). The sample for this work was chosen from data related to manufacturing businesses during a three-year period ($2002{\sim}2004$) in Korea. This study used AnswerTree of SPSS and the analysis results enabled us to determine the most important variables that can affect injured people such as the occurrence type, the company size, and the time of occurrence. Also, it was found that the classification system adopted in the present study using QUEST algorithm is quite reliable.

The number of accidents is raising every year and severity is also increasing. A lot of studies are interested in the leading indicator such as safety culture or safety audit to reduce accidents. In particular, the studies on safety awareness are actively conducted. However, these studies showed that there was consciousness of scapegoatism which to pass responsibility of accident causes to others regardless of safety awareness. It means that there are probability about overestimating and making light of unsafe condition and act which have to manage and control. Eventually, the direct causes which lead to the fatal accident may be consistently arisen. Nevertheless, researches about consciousness of scapegoatism are shortage. Therefore, this study proposed the means to investigate the relationship between consciousness of scapegoatism and accidents through report from KOSHA and conducts the survey with suggested means. This paper will contribute to prevent accidents by identifying relationship between consciousness of scapegoatism and accidents.
