To improve poor dye uptake of safflower yellow colorants, cellulose fibers were pretreated with chitosan. The effect of chitosan pretreatment on the dyeability of safflower yellow colorants to cotton, ramie, and rayon was investigated in terms of dye uptake, color, and colorfastness. Irrespective of fiber types, dye uptake increased continuously with increase in chitosan concentration. Chitosan pretreatment improved dye uptake up to 5.6 times for cotton, 7.2 times for ramie, and 3.7 times for rayon. For cotton and ramie, the shade of dyed fabric changed YR color to Y color with increase in chitosan concentration. Dyed rayon fabrics showed Y color irrespective of chitosan concentration. Shades got darker and deeper with increasing chitosan concentration. Shades of chitosan pretreated fabrics were shifted differently depending on dyeing temperature within same fabrics. In common, the color of all dyed fabrics changed to YR at 50 and $70^{\circ}C$ while Y color at 30 and $90^{\circ}C$. V and C value decreased with increase in dyeing temperature and resulted in darker and duller color, in general. Light fastness was fair while washing fastness was poor. It was confirmed that ultrasonic dyeing method enhanced dye uptake more than 30% for cotton and ramie fabrics compared to the conventional automatic machine dyeing method. However, no difference in dye uptake between two dyeing methods was found for rayon.
Pyroprocessing has been developed for the purpose of resolving the current spent nuclear fuel management issue and enhancing the recycle of valuable resources. Pyroprocessing has been developed with the dry technologies which are performed under high temperature conditions excluding any aqueous processes. Pyro-processes which are based on the electrochemical principles require pretreatment processes and a voloxidation process is considered as a pretreatment step for an electrolytic reduction process. Various kinds of gas conditions are applicable to the voloxidation process and the understanding of Cs behavior during the process is of importance for the analyses of waste characteristics and heat load on the overall pyroprocessing. In this study, the changes of chemical compounds with the gas conditions were calculated by analyzing gas-solid reaction behavior based on the chemical equilibria on a Cs-Te-O system. $Cs_2TeO_3$ and $Cs_2TeO_4$ were selected after a Tpp diagram analysis and it was confirmed that they are relatively stable under oxidizing atmospheres while it was shown that Cs and Te would be removed by volatilization under reducing atmosphere at a high temperature. This work provided basic data for predicting Cs behavior during the voloxidation process at which compounds are chemically distributed as the first stage in the pyroprocessing and it is expected that the results would be used for setting up material balances and related purposes.

The process of alginate preparation was shortened with microwave pretreatment and hot water extraction without any other treatment. The yield of extracted alginate was very different according to raw material and microwave treatment conditions. The yield of extracted alginate from sea mustard was higher than sea tangle and increased with the temperature rise and time of microwave treatment. Optimum extraction conditions by microwave treatment were 90 min at $100^{\circ}C$ for the sea mustard and 120 min at $100^{\circ}C$ for the sea tangle. On the other hand, the solubility of the alginate from sea mustard was $69\%\~80\%$ and the viscosity were 8.7$\~$1.5 cps, respectively. The solubility and the viscosity of the sea tangle alginate was higher than the sea mustard to $77\~84\%$ and in the range of 8.9$\~$1.8 cps, respectively. The extraction temperature by hot water greatly influenced on the yield of alginate, but the solubility and viscosity was not affected by the hot water extraction. The molecular weight of alginate obtained through the extraction by $Na_2CO_3$ solution and the microwave pretreatment was 800 kDa, and in the range of 12$\~$45 kDa, respectively.
This study prepares dried sweet pumpkins to optimize pretreatment conditions of blanching, steaming and microwave heating and to investigate the quality characteristic of each method. The sweet pumpkin blanching treatment of moisture content decreased gradually with increasing temperature, and soluble solids, and weight loss was increased. Color temperature is lower, and a higher value of L value and b value increased. As for the sweet pumpkin steaming treatment of moisture content, it was observed that the longer the steaming time was decreased, sugar content was increased. Change of color in the L value, the longer the steaming time a and b values. Also, as for the microwave treatment of the sweet pumpkin, the longer the time the moisture content decreased, it slightly increased soluble solids and weight loss. Blanching showed the lowest hardness of texture, followed by steaming, and microwaves, in order. Penetration per 20 hours per type was determined by sensory evaluation of sugar, and sugar:fructose(1:2)ratio were higher in the composition.
After membrane fouling factors in acrylic wastewater were minimized by pretreatment process accompanied with $TiO_2$, it was utilized in MF/UF/RO process. After composing of ultrafiltration/reverse osmosis or microfiltration/reverseosmosiss module set according to types and kinds of membrane, the separation characteristics were examined with the variation temperature and pressure using pretreated acrylic wastewater by membrane module sets. The permeate of ultrafiltration or microfiltration module was sent to reverse osmosis module. It was found that final permeate flux of reverse osmosis module in module set 2 (MWCO 200,000 UF+RO) was excellent. It was shown that the removal efficiency of TDS, T-N and COD was very low and was not dependent on the variation of temperature and pressure in UF and MF modules. From the above result, the removal efficiency of TDS, T-N and COD was very excellent in RO module. The removal efficiency of turbidity in UF and MF module was very high (> 99% removal efficiency). Final water quality of acrylic wastewater treated by the membrane module set was satisfied with effluent allowances limit and membrane module sets were ascertained to reuse wastewater.
During a dilute acid hydrolysis, degradation products are formed or liberated by pre-treatment of lignocelluloses depend on both the biomass and the pretreatment conditions such as temperature, time, pressure, pH, redox conditions, and addition of catalysts. In lignocellulosic biomass, sugars can be degraded to furfural which is formed from pentoses and 5-hydroxymethulfurfural (HMF) from hexoses. 5-HMF can be further degraded, forming levulinic acid and formic acid. Acetate is liberated from hemicellulose during hydrolysis. Some decomposed compounds hinder the subsequent bioconversion of the solubilized sugars into desired products, reducing conversion yields and rates during fermentation. In the present work, samples of rapeseed strawwere hydrolyzed to study the optimal pretreatment condition by assessing yields of sugars and decomposed products obtained under different reaction conditions ($H_2SO_4$ 0.5-1.25% (w/w), reaction time 0-20 min and temperature range 150-220 C). A careful analytical investigation of acid hydrolyzate of rapeseed straw has not yet been undertaken, and a well-closed mass balance for the hydrolyzate in general is necessary to verify the productivity and economic predictions for this process.

This study established an analytical method to simultaneously determine six organophosphorous pesticides [methyldemetone-S, diazinon, fenitrothion, parathion, phentoate, and O-ethyl O-(4-nitrophenyl) phenylphosphonothioate (EPN)] and carbaryl in water using a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) system coupled with on-line micro extraction by packed sorbent (MEPS) and programmed temperature vaporizer (PTV) injector. Polystyrene divinylbenzene (PDVB) was used as a sorbent of MEPS. The effects of elution solvents, pH, elution volume and draw-eject cycles of samples on sample pretreatment process were investigated. Also, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) and the recovery of the pesticides in environmental samples were evaluated. The elution was performed using $30{\mu}L$ of a mixed solvent (acetone : dichloromethane = 80 : 20 (v/v)). Sample pretreatment processes were optimized with seven cycles of draw-eject of sample (1 mL) spiking an internal standard and sulfuric acid. At lower pH, the analytical sensitivity of diazinon decreased, but that of carbaryl increased. The method detection limit and the limit of quantification for this method were 0.02~0.18 and $0.08{\sim}0.59{\mu}g/L$, respectively. The method precision and accuracy were 1.5~11.5% and 83.3~129.8%, respectively, at concentrations of $0.5{\sim}5.0{\mu}g/L$. The recovery rates for all the pesticides except carbaryl in various environmental samples ranged 75.7~129.3%. The recovery rate of carbaryl in effluent sample was over 200% whereas carbaryl in drinking water, groundwater, and river water were in the acceptable range.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of various soft steam treatments, namely, forced convection-boiler, forced convection-fan, and natural convection, on the pretreatment characteristics of potatoes. In this study, potatoes were exposed to various cooking conditions, including steaming method, treatment time (0-60 min), and temperature (60, 70, $80^{\circ}C$). Then, changes in temperature, cook value, ascorbic acid content, moisture content, and weight loss in the fresh and steam-treated samples were measured and evaluated. The results clearly showed that natural convective steaming was superior to other treatments in terms of heating characteristics, cook value (FC-b: $46.4{\pm}1.7$, FC-f: $21.8{\pm}1.1$, NC: $52.1{\pm}1.9min$ at $80^{\circ}C$), ascorbic acid content (FC-b: $36.5{\pm}2.7$, FC-f: $28.5{\pm}2.9$, NC: $48.2%{\pm}2.5%$ at $80^{\circ}C$), moisture retention (FCb: $74.6{\pm}0.8$, FC-f: $71.5{\pm}0.5$, NC: $77.6%{\pm}0.4%$ for 60 min at $80^{\circ}C$), and weight loss (FC-b: $13.9{\pm}0.8$, FC-f: $15.6{\pm}0.6$, NC: $10.6%{\pm}0.7%$ for 60 min at $80^{\circ}C$) for thermally processed potatoes.

This study was carried out to produce haploid plants to verify a systematic breeding program and genetic analysis. Effect of developmental stage of pollen grains and pre-treatment temperature on production of haploid plants was investigated. Microscopic investigation of the explants (Lilium Asiatic hybrid 'reamland' revealed that the length of flower bud at 23.0-24.9, 25.0-26.9, and 27.0-28.9 mm long coincided with tetrad, uninucleate, and binucleate, respectively. When the efficiency of the anther culture from microgametogenetic stages was tested, late uninucleate to early binucleate stage, having the length of 23.0 to 28.0 mm long flower bud, was the best. The frequencies of the callus induction and plant regeneration from the stage mentioned above were 17.8 and 6.7%, respectively. When calli were cultured on the MS medium containing picloram and zeatin at $25^{\circ}C$, shoots were obtained. Roots of regenerated plantlets were confirmed as haploid through an microscopic observation.

The NaCl contents of food waste composts made by various techniques known up to now were under the level of 1% by fresh weight basis. But these techniques has some problem that is environment pollution from treated water and high equipment cost. The application to agricultural land of food waste compost that is not sufficiently removed NaCl was considered to be improper due to salt accumulation in soils and plant growth inhibition by salt stress. The purpose of this study is to decompose NaCl in food waste compost using triple salt and this method is differ from existing chemical method. Also, reaction of NaCl with triple salt produced KCl that is basic material of potassium fertilizer. Moreover Also, there was temperature rise of average $5^{\circ}C$ as result that apply triple salt in food waste 600 ton in food wast composting productive capacity. Obvious odious smell reduction effect appeared pretreatment process and fermentation process with temperature rise and this is because triple salt activation of aerobe and removes odious smell cause material by salt content decrease effectively.
