Acoustic pressure response and NO formation of hydrogen-air diffusion flames at various pressures are numerically studied by employing counterflow diffusion flame as a model flame let in turbulent flames in combustion chambers. The numerical results show that extinction strain rate increases linearly with pressure and then decreases, and increases again at high pressures. Thus, flames are classified into three pressure regimes. Such non-monotonic behavior is caused by the change in chemical kinetic behavior as pressure rises. Acoustic pressure response in each regime is investigated based on the Rayleigh criterion. At low pressures, pressure-rise causes the increase in flame temperature and chain branching/recombination reaction rates, resulting in increased heat release. Therefore, amplification in pressure oscillation is predicted. Similar phenomena are predicted at high pressures. At moderate pressures, weak amplification is predicted. Emission index of NO shows similar behaviors as to the peak-temperature variation with pressure.

We have studied the structural and optical properties of ZnO thin film deposited on glass by RF magnetron sputtering as functions of working pressures. The grain sizes were decreased as the working pressures were increased. The average optical transmissions over all exceeded 80% for ZnO films deposited in 20, 25 and 300m torr working pressures. And the transmission spectra patterns were almost same. While the transmission spectra pattern of ZnO film deposited in 35nm torr was different with other spectra patterns obtained in 20, 25 and 30nm torr working pressures.

Since it is not possible to generate spatially uniform particle distribution at low pressures in which in-situ particle monitors(ISPMs) are normally operated, it is of interest to investigate the response of an ISPM to particle beams at low pressures. The purpose of this study is to develop technique that can control the size of particle beams. In this study, particle beams were generated at low pressures by using identical aerodynamic lenses, and their shape and size were visualized by collecting uniform sized methylene blue aerosol particles on a filter media. It was found that the size of particle beams depends on the number of lens, the distance between lenses, and the downstream distance from the final lens. The size of particle beams decreases with increasing distance between lenses, and increases with increasing downstream distance from the final lens. The experimental results obtained in this work will be used to investigate performance of an ISPM at low pressures.
In this paper, the pumping performance of the disk-type drag pump which works in the outlet pressure range from 4 to 0.001 Torr is studied experimentally. The pumping characteristics of various drag pumps are performed. The inlet pressures are measured for various outlet pressures of the test pump. The flow-meter method is adopted to calculate the pumping speed. Compression ratios and pumping speeds for the nitrogen gas are measured. The present experimental data show the leak-limited value of the compression ratio in the molecular transition region. The rotational speed of the pump is 24,000rpm. The inlet pressures are measured for various outlet pressures of the test pump. The ultimate Pressures for zero throughput are measured for three-stage, two-stage and single-stage disk-type, respectively.
Computational experiments on fundamental un stretched laminar burning velocities and flame response to stretch (represented by the Markstein number) of hydrogen-air flames at high temperatures and pressures were conducted in order to understand the dynamics of the flames including hydrogen as an attractive energy carrier in conditions encountered in practical applications such as internal combustion engines. Outwardly propagating spherical premixed flames were considered for a fuel-equivalence ratio of 0.6, pressures of 5 to 50 atm, and temperatures of 298 to 1000 K. For these conditions, ratios of unstretched-to-stretched laminar burning velocities varied linearly with flame stretch (represented by the Karlovitz number), similar to the flames at normal temperature and normal to moderately elevated pressures, implying that the "local conditions" hypothesis can be extended to the practical conditions. Increasing temperatures tended to reduce tendencies toward preferential-diffusion instability behavior (increasing the Markstein number) whereas increasing pressures tended to increase tendencies toward preferential-diffusion instability behavior (decreasing the Markstein number).

The design of formwork system for vertical form faces is controlled by pressures predicted to act against the formwork by fresh concrete. An overestimation of pressure results in heavy, and ex-pensive formwork. An underestimation results in malformed structure, of in some cases, it causes the failure of the formwork. This study is a preliminary step in determination lateral pressures with High folwable concrete. To estimate lateral formwork pressures, we measured tensile strain of formtie in the movable part of the form. From the experimental results maximum lateral pressure and the location at which maximum pressures occurs, were determined. The experimental results are compared with the results predicted by the Gardner & Qureshi's proposed equation and the accepted Korean Standard Specification for concrete and ACI equation.
This study analyzes how the perceived pressures and organizational readiness of fashion companies (that utilize the internet as a marketing or commercial transaction tool) influence the continuous internet adaptation intention. It ascertains the differences between the companies that have introduced the internet commercial transaction and companies that have not. The survey was conducted among the employees of fashion companies from January $15^{th}$ to February $20^{th}$ in 2009. A total of 314 respondents were submitted for analysis using diverse methods that include frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, and multiple regression analysis. The results show that the perceived internal and external pressures, the support of the chief executive officer and capacity of the organization influence the continuous internet adaptation intention of fashion companies. There are differences in the perceived internal and external pressures, support of the chief executive officer, capacity of the organization, and continuous internet adaptation intention between companies that introduced a internet commercial transaction system and those that have not.
This paper considers internal pressure fluctuations for a range of building volumes and dominant wall opening areas. The study recognizes that the air flow in and out of the dominant opening in the envelope generates Helmholtz resonance, which can amplify the internal pressure fluctuations compared to the external pressure, at the opening. Numerical methods were used to estimate fluctuating standard deviation and peak (i.e. design) internal pressures from full-scale measured external pressures. The ratios of standard deviation and peak internal pressures to the external pressures at a dominant windward wall opening of area, AW are presented in terms of the non-dimensional opening size to volume parameter, $S^*=(a_s/\bar{U}_h)^2(A_W^{3/2}/V_{Ie})$ where $a_s$ is the speed of sound, $\bar{U}_h$ is the mean wind speed at the top of the building and $V_{Ie}$ is the effective internal volume. The standard deviation of internal pressure exceeds the external pressures at the opening, for $S^*$ greater than about 0.75, showing increasing amplification with increasing $S^*$. The peak internal pressure can be expected to exceed the peak external pressure at the opening by 10% to 50%, for $S^*$ greater than about 5. A dominant leeward wall opening also produces similar fluctuating internal pressure characteristics.
This paper deals with the buckling behavior of thin-walled aboveground tanks under wind load. In order to do that, the wind pressures are obtained by means of wind-tunnel experiments, while the structural non linear response is computed by means of a finite element discretization of the tank. Wind-tunnel models were constructed and tested to evaluate group effects in tandem configurations, i.e. one or two tanks shielding an instrumented tank. Pressures on the roof and on the cylindrical part were measured by pressure taps. The geometry of the target tank is similar in relative dimensions to typical tanks found in oil storage facilities, and several group configurations were tested with blocking tanks of different sizes and different separation between the target tank and those blocking it. The experimental results show changes in the pressure distributions around the circumference of the tank for half diameter spacing, with respect to an isolated tank with similar dimensions. Moreover, when the front tank of the tandem array has a height smaller than the target tank, increments in the windward pressures were measured. From the computational analysis, it seems that the additional stiffness provided by the roof prevents reductions in the buckling load for cases even when increments in pressures develop in the top region of the cylinder.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine the changes that occur due to the real-time monitoring of paddle pressures which has an important influence on the defibrillation success rate in defibrillation treatment known as the only treatment for cardiac arrest patients with VF. Methods : 40 people participated in the cardiac arrest simulation training and played the role of the defibrillation operator. Investigators measured the pressure of paddle while defibrillating by using instrument which was developed by the investigator. Results : Through real-time monitoring of the paddle pressures of defibrillator by indicator, the front sternum paddle showed a 77.5% success rate and the apex paddle showed a 40% success rate. While the values without monitoring the paddle pressures, the front sternum paddle showed a 51% success rate and the apex paddle showed a 20% success rate. These experiment revealed statistically significant(p <.001) low success rate. Conclusion : The method of monitoring the paddle pressures during defibrillation showed that the paddle can be precisely gripped. The success rate of paddle pressures is significantly correlated with height, weight and grip strength.
