The hydraulic tests for 16$\times$16 JDFA were performed to obtain the pressure loss coefficients using the FACTS. The pressure loss coefficients are calculated by converting the each properties of experimental values for inlet region, mixing vane grid, outlet region and core region by performing a power fit of the pressure loss coefficient values to the corresponding Reynolds number. The test results are compared with the existing calculated values and evaluated by using the CALOPR code in terms of pressure drop. It is turned out that the differences between the test results and the calculated values are about by 3.8% for the pressure loss coefficients and by 8.5% for the pressure drop.
The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop during gas cooling process of $CO_2$ (R-744) in inclined helical coil copper tubes were investigated experimentally. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flow meter, a pre-heater and a inclined helical coil type gas cooler (test section). The test section consists of a smooth copper tube, which is specified as the inner diameter of 4.55 mm. The refrigerant mass fluxes were varied from 200 to $600kg/m^2s$ and the inlet pressures of gas cooler were done 7.5 to 10.0 (MPa). The heat transfer coefficients of $CO_2$ in the inclined helical coil tubes increase with the increase of mass flux and gas cooling pressure of $CO_2$. The pressure drop of $CO_2$ in the gas cooler shows relatively good coincidence with those predicted by Ito's correlation developed for single-phase in a helical coil tube. The local heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$ is well coincident with the correlation by Pitla et al. However, at the region near pseudo-critical temperature, the experiments indicate higher values than the Pitla et al. correlation.

Four swirl coaxial injectors with different recess lengths were manufactured using an additive manufacturing method. Single-injection and bi-injection cold-flow experiments were performed using water and air as simulated propellants in an atmospheric pressure environment. According to the recess length and propellant flow conditions, the injection pressure drop and discharge coefficient were investigated, and the breakup length and spray angle were measured using an image processing technique. In the bi-injection pressure drop and discharge coefficient results, the liquid-side injector was not affected by the recess. For the gas-side injector, however, the injection pressure drop increased and the discharge coefficient decreased as the recess length increased. The breakup length in the single-injection increased with the increase of the recess, but decreased in the bi-injection.
This thesis is simulated a aircraft nose landing gear drop-test. flow rate-to-pressure difference characteristics of damping orifices for a nose landing gear is investigated by CFD analyses. Orifice is kind of poppet valve type. it is simulated pressure drop with variable orifice area. it is simulated landing gear model by using ADAMS with CFD result. It's performance evaluated landing gear drop-test and analyzed the results.

Heat exchanger has been widely used in the industry which needs energy transport, and the application of the plate type heat exchanger having high efficiency has been greatly increased. In this study main design parameters are analyzed and new equations are induced. The induced formulation was compared with a commercial program in order to design an optimal heat exchanger. The equations of heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop for Chevron angles are introduced as functions of Reynolds number. The program implemented the equations is tested with Chevron angle variation. The results show that the convective heat transfer coefficients take errors within 8% and the pressure drops have errors within 5% in the analysis conditions.

In order to develop the compact and flexible heat exchangers, we made the helically coiled heat exchangers. They can be manufactured with small diameter copper tubes without the need for fins; inner diameter=1.0 mm, straight tube length=1.5 m. The experiments were carried out with the following conditions; evaporation pressure=0.6 MPa, air velocity=0.7 ∼ 1.7 m/s, and working fluid=R-22. Pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient of heat exchangers were experimented according to the air velocity. The results of heat transfer coefficient show a 35% beneficial increase fur these heat exchangers over the other covered fin-tube heat exchangers. A cooling capacity of about 3 kW was obtained with an air velocity of 1.5 m/s. The distribution header has also been designed fur efficient distribution of refrigerant flow.

The fin and tube type heat exchangers widely used in air conditioners have been developed to improve on the heat transfer performance and compactness. This study presents the new type of tube for the heat exchanger to improve the heat transfer performance by increasing the heat transfer area per unit volume in the air-conditioner heat exchanger. The new type tube can be used for mechanical expansion facility, due to the two-port copper tube. Numerical calculation shows that the heat exchanger using the two-port copper tube outperforms the conventional heat-exchanger using a circular copper tube, in terms of the increased heat transfer coefficient and higher pressure drop. The calculation results were experimentally validated and are in agreement with the experimental results. Compared to the heat exchanger using a conventional circular tube, the heat exchanger with a two-port tube increased the heat transfer coefficient up to 21%, and the pressure dropped up to 16%.

We developed a prototype from the design of a trim, which is the most important in the localization development of a 1500 Ib high-differential pressure-control valve used for boiler feedwater, and measured the flow coefficient, the most basic design data for valves. The following conclusions were drawn. The comparison of the design values of the flow coefficients for the existing X-trim and the multicore trim designed for localization development showed that they were almost identical, and the X-trim value was slightly lower. The comparison of the X-trim and multicore trim based on the valve flow coefficient test showed that they were generally similar, indicating no problem with the design. In the future, we plan to compare and analyze the flow paths for the X-trim and multicore trim via flow analysis.

The present study investigates the convective heat/mass transfer characteristics and pressure drop inside the rib-roughened cooling passage of gas turbine blades. The internal cooling passage is simulated using a square duct with h- and V-shaped rectangular ribs which have a 60。attack angle. A naphthalene sublimation technique is employed to determine the detailed local heat/mass transfer coefficients using the heat and mass transfer analogy. The ribs disturb the main flow resulting in the recirculation and secondary flows near the ribbed wail. The secondary flow patterns and the local heat transfer in the duct are changed significantly according to the rib orientation. A square duct with ∧ - and V-shaped ribs have two pairs of secondary flow due to the rib arrangement. Therefore, the average heat/mass transfer coefficients and pressure drop of ∧ - and V-shaped ribs are higher than those of the continuous ribs with 90$^{\circ}$ and 60$^{\circ}$attack angles. The ∧-shaped ribs have higher heat/mass transfer coefficients than the V-shaped ribs, and the uniformity of heat/mass transfer coefficient are increased with the discrete ribs due to the flow leakage and acceleration near the surface.

Thermal energy performance of a brazed plate heat exchanger has been evaluated experimentally. The effects of plate pitch as well as chevron angle of a plate heat exchanger on the heat transfer rate and pressure drop have been investigated in the wide range as mass flow rates in detail. This problem is of particular interest in the design of a plate heat exchanger. The results obtained indicate that both heat transfer rate and pressure drop are increased as mass flow rate is increased, as expected. It is also found that the heat transfer rate is increased with a decrease in the plate pitch while the heat transfer is decreased with a decrease in the chevron angle. Friction factor correlations are suggested based on the measured pressure drop and effectiveness of plate heat exchangers are also compared.
