후두 수직운동이 성대에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Vertical Laryngeal Movements on the Vocal Folds)

  • In spite of the presumed importance of the strap muscles on laryngeal valving and speech production, there is little research concerning the physiological role and the functional differences among the strap muscles. Generally, the strap muscles have been shown to cause a decrease in the fundamental frequency(Fo) of phonation during contraction. In this study, an in vivo canine laryngeal model was used to show the effects of strap muscles on the laryngeal function by measuring the Fo, subglottal pressure, vocal intensity, vocal fold length, cricothyroid distance, and vertical laryngeal movement. Results demonstrated that the contraction of sternohyoid and sternothyroid muscles corresponded to a rise in subglottal pressure, shortened cricothyroid distance, lengthened vocal fold, and raised Fo and vocal intensity. The thyrohyoid muscle corresponded to lowered subglottal pressure, widened cricothyroid distance, shortened vocal fold, and lowered Fo and vocal intensity. It was postulated that the mechanism of altering Fa and other variables after stimulation of the strap muscles is due to the effects of laryngotracheal pulling, upward or downward, and laryngotracheal forward bending, by the external forces during strap muscle contraction.

  • We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 20[mN/m]. LB layers of Arac. acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto y-type silicon wafer as x, y, z-type film. In processing of a device manufacture, we can see the process is good from the change of a surface pressure for organic thin films and transfer ratio of area per molecule. The structure of manufactured device is Au/arachidic acid/Al, the number of accumulated layers. Also, we then examined of the MIM device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristic of the device is measured from 0 to +2[V].

고양이 치수에서 교감신경에 의한 미세순환조절에 관한 기능적 연구 (ROLE OF SYMPATHETIC NERVE ON THE CONTROL OF MICROCIRCULATION IN THE FELINE DENTAL PULP)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the functional involvement of sympathetic nerve in the control of the microcirculation in the dental pulp with the aim of elucidation of the involvement of neuropeptides and sympathetic nerve in neurogenic inflammation. Experiments were done on the 7 cats anesthetised with sodium pentobarbital, and sympathetic nerve to the' dental pulp was stimulated electrically (10 Hz, 4 V, 1.5 ms, 3.5 mins). Ana-adrenoceptor antagonist phentolamine and a neuropeptide Y antagonist D-myo-inositol-1,2,6-trisphosphate (PP56) were injected close intra-arterially into the dental pulp without changing the systemic blood pressure. The probe of laser Doppler flowmeter was placed on the buccal surface of ipsilateral canine teeth to the stimulation, and pulpal blood flow was measured. Stimulation of the sympathetic nerve decreased pulpal blood flow by $55.24{\pm}7.74\;%$ (mean${\pm}$SEM, n = 13). Stimulation of the sympathetic nerve following the injection of the ${\alpha}$-adrenoceptor antagonist phentolamine ($0.1{\mu}g$/kg) caused decrease of pulpal blood flow by $14.35{\pm}3.43%$ (mean${\pm}$SEM, n=5). Phentolamine attenuated the sympathetic nerve-induced pulpal blood flow decrease by $74.02{\pm}9.32%$ (mean${\pm}$SEM) Stimulation of the sympathetic nerve following the injection of the neuropeptide Y antagonist PP56 (2.3 mg/kg) caused decrease of pulpal blood flow by $30.64{\pm}7.92%$ (mean${\pm}$SEM, n=6). PP56 attenuated the sympathetic nerve-induced pulpal blood flow decrease by $44.37{\pm}11.01%$ (mean${\pm}$SEM). These data provide evidences of the co-contribution of nerepinephrine and neuropeptide Y on the sympathetic nerve-induced vasoconstriction in the feline dental pulp. In addition, they show functional evidences that sympathetic nerve plays an active role in controlling the microcirculation of the dental pulp.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in the center of pressure (COP), ground reaction force (GRF) and joint angles of elderly people and young people while stair-descent. The participants in this experiment were 5 elderly people and 5 young people, each of which was asked to descend stairs of three different heights (8 cm, 16 cm, and 32 cm). As they climbed down the stairs, they received vibration stimulation on the lower limb. The change of COP, GRF and joint angles were analyzed during the standing phase. COP decreased as the Achilles tendon and tibialis anterior tendon were vibrated. Vertical GRF increased as the Achilles tendon was vibrated, and the joint angle differed according to vibration stimulation conditions. These results mean that ankle joint, knee joint and hip joint were influenced by the vibrations on the lower limb as the participants descended the stairs. It was concluded that the vibration stimulation on the lower limb allowed the participants to efficiently climb down the stairs.

Striatal Glutamate and GABA after High Frequency Subthalamic Stimulation in Parkinsonian Rat

  • Objective : High frequency stimulation (HFS) of the subthalamic nucleus (STN) is recognized as an effective treatment of advanced Parkinson's disease. However, the neurochemical basis of its effects remains unknown. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of STN HFS in intact and 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-lesioned hemiparkinsonian rat model on changes of principal neurotransmitters, glutamate, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the striatum. Methods : The authors examined extracellular glutamate and GABA change in the striatum on sham group, 6-OHDA group, and 6-OHDA plus deep brain stimulation (DBS) group using microdialysis methods. Results : High-pressure liquid chromatography was used to quantify glutamate and GABA. The results show that HFS-STN induces a significant increase of extracellular glutamate and GABA in the striatum of 6-OHDA plus DBS group compared with sham and 6-OHDA group. Conclusion : Therefore, the clinical results of STN-HFS are not restricted to the direct STN targets but involve widespread adaptive changes within the basal ganglia.

  • Non-thermal atmospheric-pressure plasma, also named cold plasma, is defined as a partly ionized gas. Therefore, it cannot be equated with plasma from blood; it is not biological in nature. Non-thermal atmospheric-pressure plasma is a new innovative approach in medicine not only for the treatment of wounds, but with a wide-range of other applications, as e.g. topical treatment of other skin diseases with microbial involvement or treatment of cancer diseases. This review emphasizes plasma effects on wound healing. Non-thermal atmospheric-pressure plasma can support wound healing by its antiseptic effects, by stimulation of proliferation and migration of wound relating skin cells, by activation or inhibition of integrin receptors on the cell surface or by its pro-angiogenic effect. We summarize the effects of plasma on eukaryotic cells, especially on keratinocytes in terms of viability, proliferation, DNA, adhesion molecules and angiogenesis together with the role of reactive oxygen species and other components of plasma. The outcome of first clinical trials regarding wound healing is pointed out.

고양이에서 동맥혈 탄산가스 분압의 변동이 연수의 통각정보 처리과정에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Changes in Arterial Carbon Dioxide Pressure on the Neuronal Activities of Rostral Ventrolateral Medulla in the Cat)

  • 통각정보나 과탄산증이 내재진통계를 활성화 시켜서 진통효과를 가져온다는 것은 잘 알려져 있다. 이 러한 일련의 과정에서 중추신경세포의-역활에 대한 체계적인 연구가 요구되는 바, 16마리의 성숙한 고 양이를 u-chloralose로 마취한 후 연수 및 좌골신경을 노출시켜, 상부연수의 복외측부(rostral ventrolateral medulla, 이후 RVLM으로 칭함)세포활동이 탄산가스분압의 변동에 어떠한 영향을 받는 지를 관찰하였다. RVLM에서 세포의 기록법으로 그 변화를 관찰한 바, 총 53개의 세포에서 자발적 인 활동을 보였고, 이 중 28개는 심맥관계 세포, 16개는 호흡관련 세포, 2개는 심맥관계-호흡 동시 관련 세포이었으며, 7개는 자발적 활동은 보이나 심 장주기나 호흡주기와 무관 하였다. 28개의 심맥관계 세포중 11개에서는 동맥혈내 탄산가스분압이 상승하였을때 세포 활동이 증가하고, 13개 세포에서는 반대로 감소하였으며, 나머지 4개 에서는 특별한 변화가 없었다. 16개의 호흡관련 세포중 9개에서는 동맥혈내 탄산가스분압이 상승하였을때 활동이 증가하고, 6개에 서는 감소하였으며 1개는 특별한 변화가 없었다 B개의 심맥관계-호흡관련 세포에서는 탄산\ulcorner스 분압의 상승에 큰 영향을 받지 않았다. 심 장 혹은 호흡주기와 무관하였던 7개의 세포중 4개는 동맥 혈 탄산가스 분압이 상승하였을때 세포 활 동이 감소하였고, 2개는 상승하였으며 1개는 큰 영향을 받지 않았다 말초신경 자극과 동시에 탄산가스분압을상승시켰을 때 심먹관계 세포의 A반응은큰 영향이 없었으 나 C반응은 상승하였다. 결론적으로 RVLM에는 동맥혈 탄산가스 분압이 상승하였을 때 활동이 증가하는 세포들이 존재하고, 이때 말초화학 감수기의 영 향보다는 탄산가스가 중추에 직접 작용할 가능성이 크며 과탄산증에 의한 내 재진통작용도 RVLM을 통하지는 않는다고 생각된다.

스트레치 센서를 활용한 EMS 복압벨트가 호흡 활성화에 미치는 영향 (EMS Ventilation Belt Using Stretch Sensor Effect on Respiratory Activation)

  • 요즘은 건강을 위한 스마트 헬스 케어 웨어러블의 개발이 가속화되는 시대이다. 그 중 활발한 연구 분야 중 하나인 EMS 전기자극을 활용한 웨어러블 제품이 많이 출시되었다. 하지만 연구되거나 출시되어있는 EMS 웨어러블은 근육의 세분화에 집중하지 못한 포괄적인 전신 슈트나 복부 전체를 덮는 벨트 형식으로 출시되어있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 특정 근육을 세분화시킨 EMS 패턴을 적용하고 복압 벨트에 호흡을 측정할 수 있는 스트레치 센서를 부착하여 두 가지 호흡법을 활용해 연구를 진행하고자 한다. 측정방법은 들숨과 날숨으로 실험을 진행하며 대상자는 건강한 신체의 20대 남성 10명을 대상으로 진행했다. 본 연구의 결과 흉식호흡과 복식호흡 모두 센서의 민감도는 5mm, 3mm, 기본 센서 순으로 센서별 순위 결과를 확인할 수 있었고 EMS 복압 벨트를 통해 전기자극을 적용 전, 후로 나누었을 때 전기자극을 적용한 후 호흡의 활성화가 향상되었음을 알 수 있었다. 연구의 결론은 2가지 호흡법을 신체 기능적 근거로 제작한 2가지 패턴으로 인해 호흡법에 적합한 전기자극을 적용 시 적용하지 않았을 때 보다 3가지 센서로 호흡 활성화 효과와 센서 간 민감도 차이를 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 기반으로 후속 연구에서는 EMS 패턴과 스트레치 센서가 통합된 의복형 웨어러블 제품에 실시간 모니터링이 가능한 호흡 스마트 의류를 개발하고자 한다.

Influence on Autonomic Function Before, During, and After Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation in Senile Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain

  • Twenty five patients, 14 males and 11 females with an average age of 75years with chronic Low Back Pain were tested before, during, and after 10minutes transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. It is important to consider the effect of TENS on the autonomic function because the pain pathway and the ANS pathway are somehow correlated to each other. There is still controversy among researchers who have reported the effect of TENS on autonomic function. So the purpose of this study is to measure the effect of TENS on the ANS and to see the relation of the pain control mechanism and the change in the ANS. The results were as follows : 1) Systolic blood pressure between before and during the experiment was apt to be a little increased, but statistically there was no significant change(P>.05). 2) Systolic blood pressure between during and after 10 minutes the experiment was apt to be a little decreased, but statistically there was no significant change(P>.05). 3) Systolic blood pressure between before and after 10 minutes experiment was apt to be a little decreased, but statistically there was no significant change(P>.05). 4) Diastolic blood pressure between before and during experiment was apt to be a little increased, but statistically there was no significant change(P>.05). 5) Diastolic blood pressure between during and after 10 minutes experiment was significantly decreased(P<.05). 6) Diastolic blood pressure between before and after 10 minutes the experiment was apt to be a little decreased, but statistically there was no significant change(P>.05). 7) Heart rate between before and during the experiment was apt to be a little decreased, but statistically there was no significant change(P>.05). 8) Heart rate between during and after 10 minutes the experiment was significantly decreased(P<.05). 9) Heart rate between before and after 10 minutes the experiment was significantly decreased(P<.05). 10) Skin temperature between before and during the experiment was significantly increased(P<.05). 11) Skin temperature between during and after 10 minutes the experiment was apt to be a little increased, but statistically there was no significant change(P>.05). 12) Skin temperature between before and after 10 minutes the experiment was significantly increased(P>.05). 13) Respiratory rate between before and during the experiment was apt to be a little increased, but statistically there was no significant change(Pgt;.05). 14) Respiratory rate between during and after 10 minutes the experiment was apt to be a little decreased, but statistically there was no significant change(Pgt;.05). 15) Respiratory rate between before and after 10 minutes the experiment was apt to be a little decreased, but statistically there was no significant change(P>.05).

독일 그로스 쉐네벡 EGS 실증 프로젝트 연구사례 (Case Study on Groß Schönebeck EGS Project Research in Germany)

  • 본 논문에서는 독일 북부의 그로스 쉐네벡 지역에서 진행된 EGS 실증프로젝트를 수리자극 시험 중심으로 소개한다. 이 지역에서는 사암 및 화산암으로 이루어진 심도 4 - 4.4 km의 지층 내에 각각 1개의 주입정과 생산정을 갖는 순환 시스템을 구성했다. 정단층 및 주향이동단층 응력상태 하에서 물 또는 젤과 균열지지체를 주입하여 주입정과 생산정에서 각각 수리자극이 이루어졌으며, 그 결과 주입지수가 $0.97m^3/(hr^*MPa)$에서 $7.5m^3/(hr^*MPa)$로 증가하였고 생산성지수는$2.4m^3/(hr^*MPa)$에서 $10.1m^3/(hr^*MPa)$로 4.25배 증가했다. 그러나 주입정과 생산정을 연결하는 순환수리시험에서는 2년간 생산성지수가 $8.9m^3/(hr^*MPa)$에서 $0.6m^3/(hr^*MPa)$까지 감소했다. 화산암층에서의 수리자극에 대해 전단 미끄러짐 해석을 수행한 결과 전단균열의 발생 방향 및 요구되는 유체 압력을 실제 수리자극 결과와 유사하게 예측해 냈다. 화산암층에서의 수리자극 시 미소진동을 관측한 결과 모멘트 규모 -1.8에서 -1.0 범위의 미소진동이 80회 나타나 미소진동의 발생은 극히 미미했다.
