Mg thin films were prepared on SPCC(cold-rolled steel) substrates by vasuum evapoaration and ion-plating. The influence of argon gas pressure and substrates bias voltage on the crystal orientation and morphology of the film was determined by using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron micrography (SEM), respectively. And the effect of crystal orientation and morphology of the Mg thin films on corrosion behavior was estimated by measuring the anodic polarization curves in deaerated 3% NaCl solution. The crystal orientation of the Mg films deposited at high argon gas pressure exhibited a (002) preferred orientation, regardless of the substrate bias voltage. Film morphology changed from a columnar to a granular structure with the increase of argon gas pressure. The morphology of the films depended not only on argon gas pressure but also bias voltage ; i.e., the effect of increasing bias voltage was similar to that of decreasing argon gas pressure. The influences of argon gas pressure and bias voltage were explained by applying the adsorption inhibitor theory and the sputter theory. And also, this showed that the corrosion resistance of the Mg thin films can be changed by controlling the crystal orientaton and morphology.

This paper investigates the effects of outdoor pressure fluctuations on natural ventilation through an opening on a building envelope. The ventilation airflow rate depends on the magnitude and the period of the pressure fluctuations, the size of the opening relative to the space volume, and the resistance characteristics of the opening. Non-dimensional parameters have been derived, which determine indoor pressure responses due to outdoor pressure fluctuations. The flow regions are categorized into (1) synchronized region, (2) opening resistance region, and (3) transition region depending on the non-dimensional parameter derived. Pressure fluctuations and flow characteristics are investigated numerically using the 4th order Runge-Kutta method.
Fretting corrosion tests are conducted with a constant displacement amplitude using silver-plated brass coupons to investigate the effect of contact pressure on fretting corrosion. Three behaviors are identified based on the change in electric resistance and friction coefficient during the fretting test period, and the identified behaviors are dependent on the magnitude of the applied load. The failure cycle ($N_f$) with an electric resistance of 0.1 D cannot be achieved due to the adhesion behavior of the metal and metal contact under the higher applied load of 0.45 N. This suggests that an average contact pressure higher than 159 MPa for the silver-coated connector is desirable to gain an almost infinite lifetime. The relationship between the electric contact resistance (R) and the average contact pressure (p) can be written as $p=106.2{\times}{\Omega}^{-1.5}$.

A concrete docking hose of pump car's boom pipe line have been used in many construction sites. They are long structures with continuous cornering, similar to a trunk of the elephant, characterized by a very high pressure resistance of 20MPa. They need flexible materials and structure in order to move the hose smoothy. But commercial concrete hose is hard to handle and heavy owing to adaption of steel reinforcement. In this study, it is tried an experimental approach to the characteristic of inner rubber layer and abrasion resistance. Also, we are investigated the bursting pressure according to the reinforcement of the hose and propose the usefulness of the hose reinforced with high strengthened aramid fiber.
Diaphragm compressors play a crucial role in safely compressing large volumes of high-purity hydrogen gas without contamination or leakage, thereby ensuring quality and reliability. Diaphragm compressors use a thin, flat, triple-layered diaphragm plate that is subjected to repetitive piston pressure for compression. They are usually made of metallic materials such as stainless steel or Inconel owing to their high-pressure resistance. However, since they are consumable components, they fail due to fatigue from repetitive pressure and vibration stress. This study aims to evaluate the scratch characteristics of diaphragms in operational environments by conducting tests on three different samples: Inconel 718, AISI 301, and Teflon-coated AISI 301. The Inconel 718 sample underwent a polishing process, the AISI 301 sample used raw material, and the Teflon coating was applied to the AISI 301 substrate at a thickness of 50 ㎛. To assess the scratch resistance, reciprocating motion friction tests were performed using a tribometer, utilizing 220 and 2000 grit sandpapers as the counter materials. The results of the friction tests suggested that the Teflon-coated sample exhibited the lowest initial friction coefficient and consistently maintained the lowest average friction coefficient (0.13 and 0.11 with 220 and 2000 grit, respectively) throughout the test. Moreover, the Teflon-coated diaphragm showed minimal wear patterns, indicating superior scratch resistance than the Inconel 718 and AISI 301 samples. These findings suggest that Teflon coatings may offer an effective solution for enhancing scratch resistance in diaphragms, thereby improving compressor performance in high-pressure hydrogen applications.

The properties of the deposited film depend on the deposition condition and these, in turn depend critically on the morphology and crystal orientation of the films. Therefore, it is important to clarify the nucleation occurrence and growth stage of the morphology and orientation of the film affected by deposition parameters, e.g. the gas pressure and bias voltage etc. In this work, magnesium thin flims were prepared on cold-rolled steel substrates by a thermo-eletron activation ion plating technique. The influence of nitrogen gas pressure and substrate bias voltage on their crystal orientation and morphology of the coated films were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The diffraction peaks of magnesium film became less sharp and broadened with the increase of nitrogen gas pressure. With an increase in nitrogen gas pressure, flim morphology changed from colum nar to granular structure, and surface crystal grain-size decreased. The morphology of films depended not only on gas pressure but also on bias voltage, i.e., the effect of increasing bias voltage was similar to that of decreasing gas pressure. The effect of crystal orientation and morphology of magnesium films on corrosion behaviors was estimated by measuring anodic polarization curves in deaerated 3%NaCl solution. Magnesium, in general, has not a good corrosion resistance in all environments. However, these magnesium films prepared by changing nitrogen gas pressure showed good corrosion resistance. Among the films, magnesium films which exhibited granular structure had the highest corrosion resistance. The above phenomena can be explained by applying the effects of adsorption, occlusion and ion sputter of nitrogen gas.

Numerical simulations of turbulent two phase flows around KCS have been performed to investigate effects of trim conditions on ship resistance of KCS in short waves by utilizing waves2foam. The wave lengths of LPP/2 and LPP/4 with 1m and 2m wave heights were imposed at inlet boundary. The resistance reduction at 2m trim by head and the increase of resistance at trims by stern were observed regardless of wave lengths and wave heights. The hull pressure on fore-and-aft rather than wave patterns around bulbous bows was mainly responsible for the total resistance coefficients of KCS in short waves. A phase diagram of contribution of hull pressure to the total resistance coefficients disclosed that the phase of representing the maximum resistance in time history played an important role in the effect of trim conditions on ship resistance of KCS in short waves.

The capacity of a pressure fan can be designed based on the air flow resistance of containers packed with fruits and vegetables in a pressure cooling system. This study was conducted to develop an air flow resistance model that was dependent on changes in the air flow rate and the method of stacking containers. The air flow resistance of a container packed with uniformly shaped balls was 1.5 times greater than the sum of the air flow resistance of a vacant container and that of a wire net container packed with only balls. In addition, the air flow resistance increased exponentially as the width of the stacks increased; however, the air flow resistance did not increase greatly as the length and height of the stacks increased, which indicates that the air flow resistance is primarily influenced by the width of the stack in the air flow direction. The air flow resistance in two lines of stacking was up to 17% less than that of the width of the stack. It was also possible to determine the air flow resistance using a function of the air flow resistance through a single container and develop a prediction model. A prediction model of air flow resistance that is dependent on the stacking method and the air flow resistance of a single container was developed.
Purpose: This study was object to the effects of a resistance exercise combined with relaxation therapy on blood pressure, frequency of exercise and physical fitness in elderly women. Methods: Seventy three elderly women participated in an exercise program for 12 months. The exercise program consisted of stretching, massage and resistance training using thera-bands twice a week and 50 minutes in every sessions each week. Repeated measures ANOVA were performed using SAS. Results: After the exercise program there was a significant difference in systolic blood pressure, frequency of exercise, body fat, sitting to standing, walking 2 minutes, sitting on a chair and reaching, and standing on one leg with eyes opened. After 6 months, there was a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure and significant increase in frequency of exercise, body fat, sitting to standing and standing on one leg with eyes opened. In 12 months, there was a significant increase in body fat, 2 minutes walking, and sitting in a chair and reaching. Conclusion: Resistance exercise combined with muscle relaxation therapy would have a positive effect on elderly women. We found that it was helpful for the elderly women in terms of physical fitness.

Porous conductors are known to demonstrate excellent electrical, mechanical, and chemical resistance. These porous conductors demonstrated potential applications in various fields such as electrodes for supercapacitors, flexible heaters, catalytic electrodes, and sorbents. In this study, we described a pressure sensitive device using conductive and porous sponges. With an extremely simple "dipping and drying" process using a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) solution, we produced conductive sponges with sheet resistance of < $30k{\Omega}/sq$. These carbon nanotube sponges can be deformed into any shape elastically and repeatedly compressed to large strains without collapse. The pressure sensors developed from these sponges demonstrated high resistance change under pressure of up to a half of their initial resistance.
