This paper describes a theory to calculate sound source field from the spatial transform of sound field and the measured cross-power spectrum of sound pressure over a hologram plane close to a sound source, Calculating method is proposed to solve sound pressures from cross-power spectrums over a hologram plane, For this, Taylor series for the nonlinear equations is expanded, and it is calculated using Newton-Raphon method, Also, a wave number filter is used to reduce errors that is occurred on the backward propagation, and is performed numerical simulation of the circular piston sound source with infinite baffle in water to verify the proposed theory.
Large eddy simulation(LES) methodology used to model the isothermal swirling flows in a dump combustor and the turbulent premixed flame in a model gas turbine combustor. The LES solver was implemented on parallel computer consisting 16 processors. In isothermal flow simulation, the results was compared with that of ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model as well as experimental data, in order to verify the capability of LES code. To model the turbulent premixed flame in a gas turbine, the G-equation flamelet model was used. The results showd that LES and RANS well predicted the mean velocity field of a non-swirling flow. However, in swirling flow, LES showed a better performance in predicting the mean axial and azimuthal velocities, and the central recirculation zone than those of RANS. In a model gas turbine combustor, the operation condition of high pressure and temperature induced the different phenomena, such as flame length and flow-field information, comparing with the condition of ambient pressure and temperature. Finally, it was identified that the flame and heat release oscillations are related to the vortex shedding generated by swirl flow and pressure wave propagation.
In this paper, noise of Korean high-speed trains (KTX) running at different speed from 150 to 300km/h was measured by a microphone array system. From the measurement, relation between maximum sound pressure levels and train moving speeds of KTX was drawn and a regression coefficient from the relation was also derived. Moreover, increases of SPL with speeds of KTX were analyzed in the frequency domain. From the analysis, sound characteristics of passing-by noise of KTX were provided. Then, dominant noise source areas were obtained from the measurements and propagation patterns of KTX in vertical direction were also investigated. Finally, noise sources of KTX were identified from inspection of noise maps.

The aim of this study is to investigate the ductile fracture behavior under mixed mode (I/II) loading using SA533B pressure vessel steel. Anti-symmetric 4-point (AS4P) bonding tests were performed to obtain the J-R curves under two different mixed mode (I/II) loadings. In addition, the fractographic examination of fracture surfaces was carried out to compare with those of pure Mode I and Mode II. In conclusions, the J-R curves under Mixed Mode (I/II) loading were located between those of Mode I and Mode II loadings. When the mixture ratio of mixed mode (I/II) loading was high, the J-R currie of mixed mode (I/II) loading approached that of pure mode I loading after some amount of crack propagation. In contrast with the above fact, if the mixture ratio was low, the J-R curve looked after that of pure mode II loading. The fractographic evidences such as the shape of dimples under different loading conditions supported these conclusions.

Dynamic characteristics of powder metal is very important to mechanical structures requiring high strength or endurance for impact loading. But owing to distinctive property of powder metal, that is relative, it has been investigated restrictively compared to static characteristics. The objectives of this study is to investigate dynamic characteristics of powder metal and compare it to a fully density material. To find the characteristics, an explicit finite element method is used for simulation of Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar experiment based on the stress wave propagation theory. We obtained a dynamic stress-strain relationship and dynamic behavior of powder metal, as well as the variation of material properties during dynamic deformation.

Cavity tone is generated due to the feedback between flow and acoustic wave. It is recognized that the period is determined by the time required for the flow convection in one direction, the time required for the acoustic propagation in the other direction and the time for phase shift depending on the flows and mode. Most of the phenomena have been investigated by experiments and a simple but fundamental theory. But the cause of the phase shift and the correctness of the theory have not been clearly explained so far. In this paper, the phenomena are calculated numerically to obtain detail information of flow and acoustic wave to explain the mechanism including the phase. High order high resolution scheme of optimized high order compact is used to resolve the small acoustic quantities and large flow quantities at the same time. The data are reduced using cross correlation function in space and time and cross spectral density function which has phase information. Abrupt change in pressure near corner in cavity is observed and is relate to phase variation. The time required for the feedback between the flow and acoustic wave is calculated after the numerical simulation f3r various modes. The periods based on the time calculated using the above method and direct observation from the acoustic waves generated and propagated in the numerical simulation are compared. It is found that no phase shift is required if we examine the time required carefully. Rossiter's formula for the cavity tone used for quick estimation needs to be modified far some modes.
In this study, 2D computations of the Aeolian tones for some obstacles (circular cylinder, square cylinder and NACA0012 airfoil) are simulated. First of all, we calculate the flow noise generated by a uniform flow around a two-dimensional circular cylinder at Re=150 are simulated by applying the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM). The third-order-accurate up-wind scheme (UTOPIA) is used for the spatial derivatives, and the second-order-accurate Runge-Kutta scheme is applied for the time marching. The results show that we successively capture very small acoustic pressure fluctuation with the same frequency of the Karman vortex street compared with the pressure fluctuation around a circular cylinder. The propagation velocity of the acoustic waves shows that the points of peak pressure are biased upstream due to the Doppler effect in the uniform flow. For the downstream, on the other hand, it is faster. To investigate the effect of the lattice dependence, furthermore, simulations of the Aeolian tones at the low Reynolds number radiated by a square cylinder and a NACA0012 airfoil with a blunt trailing edge at high incidence are also investigated.

This paper describes the measurement of the underwater noises produced by the engine vibration around the engine room of stern trawler MIS Sae-Ba-Da(2275GT, 3,600 PS) and pole kner M/S Kwan-Ak-San (243 GT, 1000 PS) while the ship is stopping. The underwater noise pressure level was measured with the underwater level meter of which measuring range is 100 to 200 dB(re bLPa). A and B denotes the maximum pressure level measured at right beneath the bottom of the engine room, while the main engine of the Sae-Ba-Da revoluted at 750 and 500 rpm, respectively. C denotes that of the main engine of the Kwan-Ak-San revoluted at 350 rpm, and D that of the generator of the Sae-Ba-Da revoluted at 720 rpm. Thus A, B, C and D were set for the standard sound source for the experiment. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The noise Pressure level at A, B, C and D were 170.5,165,153 and 158dB, respectively. 2. When the check points distanted vertically 1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50m from the sound source, the underwater noise presure levels were 170.5, 155, 148, 144 and 138 dB and the directional angle was 116\ulcorner in case of A. 3. The sound level attenuated at the rate of 20dB per 10" meters of the horizontal distance from the sound sources. 4. The frequency distribution of the noise was 100Hz to 10KHz and predominant frequency was 700 to 800Hzminant frequency was 700 to 800Hz

Cracks present in pressure vessels have been reported to be mostly semi-elliptic surface cracks. The fatigue crack growth rates(FCGR) of surface cracks in the pressure vessel materials, API5A-K55 and SPV 500, used in this study were showed to be different depending on the direction of propagation of the surface crack. An equation for the prediction of the shape change of the surface crack was obtained by combining the Paris' relations for each direction of surface crack extension and agreed well with the experimental data. And also FGGR in both materials were evaluated and prediction of the shape change of surface crack were made using averaged stress intensity factor.
An acoustic vector sensor is a device that is capable of measuring the direction of wave propagation and the acoustic pressure. In this paper, the modeling of micro-cantilever sensor for the vector sensor are proposed by consideration of acoustic phenomenon in water. Two models based on unimorph structure are proposed in this paper and corresponding transfer function which describes the relation between input pressure wave and output voltage depending on incidence angle and frequency of pressure wave is derived based on lumped model. It has been shown that very thin and flexible micro-cantilever can be used to measure directly the particle velocity component in water.
