Roots Finding - PBL in the First Year Course -

  • Design subjects have become popular in the engineering education. In these subjects, an active learning skill was introduced to students. Students have to decide a theme and the way how to study it and to find answers by themselves. This learning method was developed in the early year courses in the University of Tokushima. The common learning curriculum among whole university adopted this design subjects from 2005 of the school year and eleven more new subjects started. "Roots finding" is one of them and the objectives are to gain abilities of self-study through the research on a particular subject, and make report then presenting them. Self-learning ability, research ability and presentation skills were enhanced through this subject.

국가안보에 적합한 인력양성을 위한 부사관 후보생의 의사표현 능력 향상 방안 연구 (Improving the ability of oral communication skills for NCO candidates)

  • 이 연구에서는 현재 부사관 후보생으로 재학 중인 학생들을 대상으로 부사관 전형에 필요한 언어논리력의 향상을 위한 자기주도적 학습(self directed learning)의 과정을 소개하며, 부사관의 군 조직내 중요성을 바탕으로 후보생들의 의사소통의 문제점을 진단하고 이를 향상시키기 위한 몇 가지 수업 모형을 제시하였다. 말하기와 내용 구성에 관련된 면접, 프레젠테이션, 토론의 3가지 커리큘럼을 제안하여 학생들 스스로 자기주도 학습이 가능하도록 하였다. 이 과정에서 흔히 학습자가 자기주도 학습에서 겪는 어려움을 해결할 수 있는 방안 중 하나로 스캐폴딩(scaffolding)방식을 사용하였으며, 3가지 수업모형의 적용 결과 의사표현 능력의 향상을 이끌어낼 수 있음을 보였다.

An Instructional Design for International Collaborative Learning Focusing on Communication

  • The advantages of the Internet enable teachers in the world to break the communication barriers between their schools and collaborate with each other, giving them opportunities for richer educational practices than ever accomplished. I assume that collaborative learning like an international exchange naturally lead the students to acquire the knowledge to communicate with their peers using ICT skills. In this paper, two international exchange projects that have years of practice are reported, i.e., new types of collaborative education projects that the development of the Internet has enabled us to carry out. The international exchanges reported here have been possible because both students and teachers have effectively used the various functions of the Internet. To use English as a "common international communication language" is particularly important for the youth in Asia, and the students have come to realize the importance of English as a communication language through these projects. Also, since these practices are based on the infrastructure of the Internet, they have elucidated what kind of Internet use produces richer educational results .At the final stage of the exchanges, "joint presentation in English" is designed. Students communicate and collaborate over the network, and finally meet with each other and try to give a presentation as a product of their collaborative work. The files and scenes of their presentations are stored on the network and used as educational materials in Asia as well as models for the activities in the following years. We will report how to design international exchange education in this Internet age.

기술적 의사소통능력의 하위요소 추출과 체제모형 구축 (Study on Extraction of Sub-element and Construction of System Model for the Technological Communication Skills)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 학습자의 의사소통능력을 향상시키기 위한 도구로서 사용될 기술적 의사소통능력의 하위요소 추출과 체제모형 구축에 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 기술적 의사소통능력 하위요소 추출 및 정의, 기술적 의사소통능력 체제 모형구축의 두 가지 단계로 진행하였다. 기술적 의사소통능력 하위요소 추출 및 정의 단계에서는, 기술적 의사소통능력과 관련된 요소를 포함하고 있는 기존의 설계과정 모형을 분석, 비교하고, 기술적 의사소통능력 하위요소를 추출하여 전문가 검증하였다. 다음으로 '기술적 의사소통능력'과 그 하위요소에 대한 정의를 하였다. 기술적 의사소통능력 체제 모형 구축 단계에서는, 기술적 의사소통능력 하위요소와 관련 문헌에 대한 연구를 통해 기술적 의사소통능력 체제 모형을 구축하여 전문가 검증하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기술적 의사소통능력의 하위요소는 이미지, 스케치, 순서도, 설계도, 원형제작, 기호 표 그래프, 프레젠테이션이 추출되었다. 둘째, 기술적 의사소통능력을 '온라인 오프라인을 아우르는 협업 활동'을 기반으로, '기술적 의사소통 도구'를 사용하여, '교류를 통한 구상, 교류를 통한 구현, 교류를 통한 마무리'의 과정을 통해 길러지는 의사소통능력으로 정의하였다. 셋째, 기술적 의사소통능력은 교류를 통한 구상(이미지, 스케치, 순서도), 교류를 통한 구현(설계도, 원형제작), 교류를 통한 마무리(기호 표 그래프, 프레젠테이션)의 모든 과정이 협업을 기반으로 체제를 구성하고 있다. 넷째, 기존 의사소통능력 검사도구와 기술적 의사소통능력 체제모형을 기반으로 기술적 의사소통능력 검사 도구를 개발하고, 전문가 타당도 조사를 통해 개선하였다.

Ubiquitous Based Learning (UBL) 을 이용한 패션과 소비자 행동 수업에 관한 고찰 (The Effects of Ubiquitous Based Learning on the fashion and consumer behavior course)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of UBL (Ubiquitous basedlearning) on fashion and consumer behavior course. Thirty-one undergraduate university students completed a 15-week capstone course in a clothing and textiles department. About sixteen percent students were majoring in liberal arts and sixty-three percent of the participants were majoring in the clothing and textiles. Mainly, the participants were junior and senior undergraduate students. The participants demonstrated positive attitude toward the UBL (Ubiquitous based-learning) on fashion and consumer behavior course. The results showed that seventy-seven percent of the participants have more opportunities to handle multi-media resources using social network and social media. Eighty percent of the participants have been developed of communication skills. Seventy-one percent of the participants were helped to learn foreign language skills. Overall, most of the participants were satisfied that their presentation skill was improved in class and they had willing to recommend the class to other students for the future.

글로벌 소싱 관련 직무 이해를 통한 의류학 교과내용 제안 (Suggesting the Curriculum Contents of Clothing and Textiles by Understanding Jobs related to Global Sourcing)

  • Global sourcing refers to activities performed to acquire materials, finished products and apparel production all around the world. The purposes of the study were to examine basic job requirements and primary skills of sales team and supporting team in global sourcing companies, to investigate educational programs provided by the companies or other educational institutions, and to examine courses to be newly established in the curriculum of clothing and textile majors. The results of the study found that the ability to use English and communication skills were important to perform their tasks (sales and supporting teams). The results revealed that fabric and textile, sewing, and apparel production process were the most frequently taken educational programs provided by global sourcing companies and English classes were the most frequently taken educational programs in the other educational institutions. The results also found that the clothing and textile curriculum need to add classes that help sales and supporting teams perform global sourcing tasks, such as fashion practical English, fabric and textile, apparel production processes, textile and apparel trades, fiber and fabric testing, and presentation skills. The study suggested educational directions for developing curriculum contents of clothing and textiles and cultivating professionals in the global sourcing industries.

Prezi를 활용한 프로젝트 수업이 초등과학영재반 학생들의 창의성, 과학탐구능력 및 과학에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Project Learning Utilizing Prezi on Creativity, Science Process Skills and Attitudes Toward Science of Scientific Gifted Children in Elementary School)

  • Prezi, which is an implemented software in the form of flash-based online presentation, is considered to be a new appropriate smart-learning tool. This study aimed to investigate an impact of project learning utilizing Prezi on the creativity, attitudes toward science and science process skills of scientific gifted children in elementary school. The results of this study were as follows; First, after project learning utilizing Prezi, their creativity was raised meaningfully, especially in sub-elements of patience, adaptability and variety of interestings. Second, project learning utilizing Prezi showed meaningful effect on their improvement of science process skill, especially in integrated science process skills. Third, project learning utilizing Prezi improved their attitudes toward science meaningfully. In almost sub-elements, except the element of ordinariness of scientist, positive meaningful improvements were showed.

국어과 교육에서의 환경교육 (Environmental Education in the Korean Language Education)

  • As the environmental problems are recognized as daily problems in our lives, not as issues of those who are engaged in specific professional fields, the interest in environmental education is increasing gradually. The environmental education is the one that studies the environment and its problems and seeks the solutions for them. This paper deals with how the Korean subject will include environmental education. The environmental problems are already dealt with in the Korean textbooks according to the 6th curriculum for the Korean subject. A noticeable fact is that those textbooks connect the skills for language skills with environmental education. That is, the textbooks try to improve 4 language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) with the Korean data related to environment, which can be the most practical means. This tendency will be also reflected in the 7th curriculum for the Korean subject, and the means will be taken by which environmental education will be able to be implemented more effectively through a variety of learning activities. In case of speaking and listening, learning activities such as speaking of, listening to, or discussing the contents concerning environmental problems can be recommended. In case of reading and literature, learning activities such as reading articles or works concerning environmental problems. Through these learning activities the Korean education will be able to achieve the goal in the fields of knowledge, information, and autonomy or attitudes which are the goals of environmental education. If the contents of the Korean curriculum are described in detail, it can be known that the Korean subject have someting to do with knowledge, skills, and recognition more deeply. In the methods In obtain information and knowledge, it will be desirable to recognize knowledge and information indirectly through various reading data rather than to recognize knowledge and information directly. Or it will be desirable to increase the sensitivity about environmental problems through literary works. For this environmental education in the above, we need to utilize discussion or presentation-oriented leaching and learning in the Korean education. Also we need to approach environmental problems by using various teaching media. We need to emphasize the education in the affective domain, especially through expression of emotions. guidance of reactions, internalization, personification, and so on.

비판(-창의)적 사고의 문제 해결 과정과 기량을 활용한 창의 공학 설계 교육 (Creative Engineering Design Education Utilizing the Problem-solving Process and Skills of Critico(-Creative) Thinking)

  • ABEEK recommends convergent engineering projects to nurture creative problem-solving ability for 1st year engineering students through 'Creative Engineering Design' course. However, 1st year engineering students, who have not yet studied core subjects in engineering, have difficulties understanding and coping with the challenges posed by the engineering-related projects. For this reason, the educational objectives of this course are usually frustrating to achieve by the instructor. In this paper, by using the problem-solving process and skills of critico(-creative) thinking, we prepare guidelines for creative engineering design education that allow 1st-year students to effectively participate in engineering projects without a complete understanding of the design process which is to be studied. Also, we present a case study that applies the guidelines to an on-going creative engineering design course and discusses the outcomes by showing student-generated works. The results showed that the intuitive content and everyday expression of critico(-creative) thinking education enabled the instructor to effectively guide their students through the requirements of engineering projects without relying on advanced engineering design methods, and that the application of these guidelines also helped improve students' communication skills, including presentation. We show that the guidelines for creative engineering design education utilizing the problem-solving process and skills of critico(-creative) thinking is not only contributing to achieving the educational objectives of the creative engineering design course but can also be an educational paradigm that incorporates critico(-creative) thinking education into engineering education.

고등학생의 정보활용능력과 비판적 사고성향의 관계에 대한 사례 연구 (A Case Study on the Relationship between Information Literacy Skills and Critical Thinking Dispositions of High School Students)

  • 본 연구는 대전 "A" 고등학교의 사례를 통해 고등학생들의 정보활용능력이 비판적 사고성향에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 고등학생 761명을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행하였고, 두 변인 간의 영향 관계를 파악하기 위해 인구통계학적 정보를 포함하여 다중 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 정보에 대한 탐색 접근 능력은 진실추구성, 개방성, 탐구성, 객관성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 정보의 분석 이해 능력은 진실추구성, 개방성, 객관성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 정보의 표현 전달 능력은 탐구성, 체계성, 자기신뢰성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 정보평가 능력은 진실추구성, 개방성, 객관성, 탐구성, 체계성, 자기신뢰성에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 다만 정보의 종합 적용 능력은 체계성과 자기신뢰성에 부적인 영향을 미치고 있었다. 종합해 보면 정보활용능력의 하위 구성요소들은 비판적 사고성향에 부분적 또는 전체적으로 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 추후 체계적이고 지속적인 정보활용교육을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
