Objectives: This study analyzed, through network analysis and data mining analysis, the relationship between herbs used in osteoporosis prescriptions, diversified the analysis of osteoporosis-related prescriptions, and analyzed the combination of herbs used in osteoporosis-related prescriptions. Methods: The prescriptions used in osteoporosis treatment and experiments were established by conducting a full survey of the papers published by the OASIS site. A database for osteoporosis-related prescriptions was established, herbs were extracted, and the frequency of frequent herbs and prescriptions were investigated using Excel (MS offices ver. 2013). Using the freeware R version 4.0.3 (2020-10-10), igraph, and arules package, network analysis was performed in the first second of prescription composition. Results: Among the osteoporosis-related prescriptions, the most studied prescriptions are as follows.: Yukmijihwang-tang (六味地黃湯) and Samul-tang (四物湯). In the osteoporosis prescription network, herbs with connection centrality, proximity centrality, mediation centrality, and eigenvector centrality appeared in the order of Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, Angelicae Gigantis Radix, Poria Sclerotium, Paeoniae Radix, and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma. After extracting the herbal combination network, including the corresponding herbs, and clustering it, it can be divided into drugs of the Yukmijihwang-tang (六味地黃湯) series and the Samul-tang (四物湯). Conclusions: This study could assist researchers in diversifyingy formula analysis in future studies. Moreover, the herbal combination used in osteoporosis prescriptions could be used to search for osteoporosis prescriptions in other databases or to create a new prescription.

Background & Objective: Pathogenesis treats cause of disease. pyungweesan is pathogenesis prescription of indigestion. prescription has been determined subjectively because there is no standardized prescription. so this study developed questionnaire for a objective and standardized prescription. Method: To determine objective pyungweesan prescription, 24 items of questionnaire are researched two times by delphi method. The questionnaire is selected through 5 reference book and opinions of korean medical doctor. Result: By delphi method and average value, 20 items of questionnaire are chosen. Conclusions: This study becomes basic data for a profound research henceforth. The questionnaire will be developed through being verified by korean medical doctor clinically.
The purpose of the study is to examine the use of medication among adults by comparing the pattern of outpatient prescription drug use with the pattern of long term taking lifestyle drug use. Furthermore, the study investigates factors associated with the use of medication, particularity focusing on socioeconomic factors. Korea Health Panel data of 2008 was used to conduct the study analysis. By performing four different logistic regression models, the study noticed different patterns of the medication use between prescription drugs and lifestyle drugs. More specifically, the study showed that adults with lower education level tend to more frequently receive prescriptions while adults with higher education as well as income level tend to more use lifestyle drugs than their counterparts. Furthermore, other control factors such as age and gender were statistically significant for the use of both prescription and lifestyle drugs in different patterns. The study findings expect that reimbursement structure of drugs may be significantly associated with the different patterns and accordingly the accessability of medicine in particularly vulnerable population. Therefore, these policy factors should be considered in future study to more comprehensively understand about the diverse patterns in the medication use.
Objectives: This study analyzed the prescription antibiotics characteristics of Acute respiratory infection outpatients. It provides a basis for establishing the correct evaluation project on appropriate prescribing indicators. Methods: The research data were collected from the National Health Insurance Corporation's 2014 sample cohort for Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology, Family Medicine and General practitioner clinics classification of diseases codes J00-J06, J20-J22, J40 outpatients. Results: The antibiotic prescription rate on the evaluation project for appropriate prescribing indicators of Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service was 43.54%, whereas in this study it was about 10% higher because the analysis targeted the entire acute respiratory infection diagnosis. Conclusions: There is a need to identify the correct antibiotic prescription by expanding the current assessment standard. Such standard must include acute lower respiratory infections and minor diagnosis because current evaluation projects on appropriate prescribing indicators targets only the major diagnosis of acute upper respiratory infection.

Background: Since December 2010, online computerized prospective drug utilization review (pDUR) has been implemented in Korea. pDUR involves the review of each prescription before the medication is dispensed to the individual patient. The pDUR is performed electronically by Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA), which is a Korean governmental agency, and then HIRA provides medical institutions and pharmacies with information that can be helpful to them in preventing potential drug problems such as drug/drug interactions or ingredient duplication. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of the Korean pDUR implementation on the proportion of drug-drug interactions (DDIs) using claims data from HIRA. Methods: A before-after comparison of the prevalence of DDIs between prescription was conducted, using HIRA administrative claims data of medical institution from January 2010 to December 2011. The analysis unit was the prescription issued and pairs before and after. The main outcome measures were the proportion of DDIs within- (control group) or between- physician encounters. To examine the difference, a paired t-test was applied. Results: We found that DDIs proportion between prescription decreased significantly (t=3.04, p=0.0026) after the implementation of pDUR, whereas there is no significant reduction within prescription (t=1.15, p=0.2518). With respect to the prevalence of DDIs between drug groups, the most dramatic reduction was occurred between 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors and anti-fungal agents. Conclusion: It seems effective that giving a direct feedback to prescribers by a prospective DUR. Further research is needed to assess the impact of DUR to final outcomes such as hospitalization.
Objectives: To analyze the prescription frequency of various herbs as either individual or major herbs (in terms of dosage) and their usage patterns in the treatment of different diseases for standardization of traditional Korean medicine. Methods: We analyzed the prescription database of patients at the Pusan National University Korean Medicine Hospital from the date of establishment of the hospital to February 2013. The complete prescription data were extracted from the electronic medical records of patients, and the prescription frequencies of individual herbs, particularly, of major herbs, were analyzed in terms of gender, age, and international classification of diseases (ICD) code. Results: The prescription frequency of individual herbs based on age and gender showed a similar pattern. Herbal mixtures were also distributed in a similar manner. The use of some herbs differed according to age and gender (Table 1.). The herbs that were used at high frequencies for a given ICD code had similar usage patterns in different categories. However, some major herbs in the "Jun (King)" category were used uniquely for a given ICD code (Table 2.). There was significant difference between male and female on ICD code E and N, but the other ICD codes had small differences. The ratio of herbal medicine by gender showed different usage patterns in each gender. Conclusions: The findings of our study provide fundamental data that reflect the real clinical conditions in South Korea, and therefore, can contribute to the standardization of TKM.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the current state of antidepressant prescriptions in breast cancer patients and factors affecting the prescription of antidepressants. Methods: This study targeted female breast cancer patients who were prescribed antidepressants by a psychiatrist at least once between August 2010 and July 2011 at the Asan Medical Center in Seoul. The prescription history of each study subject was investigated to analyze the current state of antidepressant prescriptions in breast cancer patients. Results: The analysis of the prescription histories of 136 subjects in the antidepressant group determined that escitalopram, mirtazapine, and trazodone were the three most commonly prescribed medications with an average of 1.54 antidepressants prescribed per patient. A logistic regression analysis showed a statistically significant increase in antidepressant prescriptions in patients who were divorced or widowed, had sleep disturbances, or had undergone oncologic surgery for the breast cancer (p<0.050). In contrast, the prescription rate was lower for patients with tumour sizes greater than 50 mm (p<0.050). Conclusion: The sociodemographic factor of marital status, clinical factors of sleep disorders and tumour size, and a treatment-specific factor of the use of surgical therapy were identified as affecting the prescription of antidepressants in female breast cancer patients.

Objectives : Treatment using foods has already been recorded since the time of Zhou Dynasty of China. Modifications in the cooking process of medicinal food or manufactural process of herbal medicines are accompanied by the alterations in the ingredients that affect the actual efficacies of medicinal food or herbal medicine, and may have marked effects on the patients including the difficulties that may be experienced in consuming the food or taking the medicine. Therefore, systemic management is essential in such processes. Accordingly, management of such knowledge system must be standardized and conveniently administered by grafting IT technology. This study aims to overcome the problem of the failure of the knowledge system on the material-oriented medicinal herbs to apply the knowledge on the cooking process that impart marked influence on the actual efficacies of the medicinal herbs. Methods : Therefore, analysis of the cooking process or manufacturing processes of prescriptions was executed by using the morphological analysis method in natural language. In this study, we aimed to make data structure of the terminologies that represent manufacture process of prescription and medicinal food. The data structure is combinations of smallest unit in natural language. We made the database by analyzing morpheme of the natural language to express the manufacture process of prescription and medicinal food. Results & Conclusions : As the results, we can express making process of Cheonjin-won, Guseon-wangdogo and Sanyagbaegboglyeongtalagjuk in DB. It was concluded that the development of DB through the extraction of a total of 15 types of concepts including 'order', 'action' and 'continuous action', etc. was helpful in systematization of the knowledge on medicinal herbs including the manufacturing process.
