This study examined the effect factors for the preparations for the old age on the current satisfaction of life of the middle-aged. A survey of middle aged people living in Seoul and metropolitan areas was conducted. The data from 442 subjects were collected from 450 questionnaires excluding 8 incomplete datasets and analyzed. The results were as follows. First, the emotional and economical preparations for the old age had influences on the emotional satisfaction positively. Second, the educational background, jobs for technician/working, emotional and physical preparations for old age had a positive effect on the physical satisfaction. Third, the household income, emotional and economical preparation for the old age had a positive influence on the economical satisfaction. Fourth, sex, emotional preparations for old age had a positive effect on the social relation satisfaction. The research results suggested that the preparations for the old age should be arranged from the middle-aged years because it is difficult to improve the satisfaction of life for old age in the elderly.
The purpose of the present study was to examine married female immigrants' life style and marriage satisfaction on the perception of preparing their old age. We also investigated how socio-demographic factors influence their Preparation for old age. For the study, -data were collected from 350 questionnaires obtained from female immigrants living in Chungcheongnam-do. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ tests were conducted for reliability, and regressional analysis was conducted to test our hypotheses. The results of this study shows that there is evidence of relations among the sub-variables. However, we found attitudes to safety and material pursuit are not related to married female immigrants' preparations for their old age. On the other hand, the results indicate that their life style and marriage satisfaction influences their perception of preparing their old age in a positive way. Finally, sociodemographic factors such as gender, age, education, marriage status, occupation and income are shown to affect the women's perception of preparing their old age positively.
This study analyzed the preparation characteristics for old age of the baby boomers by the framework of the multi-pillar pension system. Analysis results are as follows. First, multi-pillar pension system's subscription rates of baby boomers was public pension 59%, private pension 11.5% and retirement pension 1.5%. The baby boomers isn't ready for old age life. Second, women and people with the low level of education are less prepared for old age. Third, people in a bad health state are less prepared for old age. Forth, low-income people are less prepared for old age. We must support baby boomers' preparations for old age by establishing income security system for old age. We must establish public pension support policy for the people of the low level of education and economic hierarchy, women, bad health status people, and must introduce universal old-age allowance policy for guaranteeing the minimum income of baby boomers.
This study examines adult perceptions of old age planning and the factors that explain the degree of their planning for the future. The data came from 478 adults between the age of 30 and 59 living in Gunpo city. Major findings can be summarized as follows. First, we find that participants are well aware of the need for old age planning, and that the majority of them think aey are responsible for their old age security. Nevertheless they are not preparing for later life very much. Second, they are doing their best planking for their later lives in the area of social activities. The degree of participants' preparation varies depending on their age and socioeconomic factors. Finally, participants who strongly recognize their parents' role are also more likely to plan for the future. These results suggest that the educational programs and systems for pre-instruction about various plans for old age be developed for even younger people.
The purpose of this study is to analyze middle-aged female householders' reasons behind becoming female householders, process of adapting to female householders' life, and experiences in preparation for old age using Colaizzi's phenomenological method. The participants were 9 middle-aged women (aged from 40-59) having professions. We interviewed each participants twice, for 60 to 90 minutes at a time from September to December of 2014. The result of this study showed following 6 emergent themes: , , , , and . The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of family characteristics of the baby boomer generation on the level of their later life preparation. This study randomly sampled a birth cohort between 1955 and 1963 consisting of participants living in Seoul, South Korea with a spouse and a child/children. This study investigated a total of 455 subjects from March 2 to March 20, 2016. The study findings are summarized as follows. This study analyzed the characteristics of baby boomers' family relationships and their effects on their later life preparation. It was found that 55.4% of the subjects had at least 2 children, and 44.6% had 1 child. Concerning their children's marital status, 33.8% had married children and 66.2% had unmarried children. The level of their children's support was found at 2.82 points (standard deviation [SD] = .64), which is slightly higher than the mean value of 2.5. The spouse satisfaction among the subjects was found to be 3.59 (.79) which is higher than the mean value of 3. The general status of later life preparation was 2.70 (SD = .44), which is lower than the mean value of 3. In the sub-dimension, the level of social preparation was 2.98 points (SD = .61); the level of economic preparation was 2.60 (SD = .64); and the level of physical preparation was 2.53 (SD = .45). All the values were lower than the mean value of 3. The overall status of later life preparation of the subjects in this study was low. The physical preparation level was particularly low. To analyze the factors that affect baby boomers' later life preparation, a hierarchical regression analysis was implemented. As a result, a significant effect was found in specific factors, such as spouse satisfaction (${\beta}$ = .32, p < .001), age (${\beta}$ = .26, p < .001), number of children (${\beta}$ = -.18, p <.001), health status (${\beta}$ = .18, p < .001), gender (${\beta}$ = -.11, p < .05), household income (${\beta}$ = .10, p < .05), and children's marital status (${\beta}$ = .10, p < .05). That is, the higher the spousal satisfaction, the older the age, and the lower the number of children, the higher the levels of later life preparation. Further, a higher level of later life preparation was observed in women, those with higher household incomes, and those with married children.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of the degree of preparation for old age and the sense of crisis on the marital satisfaction of married mid-life women. The participants in this study were 300 women ranging in age from 40 to 59 years residing in Gyeonggi-do. Two hundred and forty-nine self-reported questionnaires were used for final analysis by SPSS PASW 18.0. The major results of this study were as follows. First, the mean score on the sense of crisis scale was $2.56{\pm}0.65$, representing a medium level. The mean scores for degree of preparation for later life and marital satisfaction were $3.54{\pm}0.57$ and $3.67{\pm}0.88$, which were somewhat high. Second, socio-demographic characteristics have a significant influence on married, middle-aged women. There were primarily differences in the sense of crisis by age cohort(such as women in their 50s) and level of education. Moreover, there were differences in the degree of preparation for later life by marriage duration and differences in marital satisfaction by level of education, monthly average income, and employment status. Third, in multiple regression analysis, the variables significantly influencing the marital satisfaction of married, middle-aged women included health status and monthly average income as control variables. Mid-life crisis also had a significant effect. The degree of preparation for emotional later life had a significant effect as an independent variable. These findings suggest that the level of sense of crisis and the degree of preparation for emotional later life affected the women's marital satisfaction. Other factors did not have a significant affect. Based on the above results, intervention alternatives are needed to improve the marital satisfaction of married, middle-aged women.
The need for preparation for old life has been further increased due to the increase of the elderly population and changes in economic conditions today. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between income instability and the degree of preparation for old life and satisfaction of current life. The key variables were extracted through prior study review. And the data collected through the survey were statistically analyzed with a structural equation model. The analysis found that the indirect effect of the current income risk on the satisfaction of current life through the preparation for old life had a significant negative effect under the statistically significant level of 0.05. However, it was found that the direct effects of current income risk on the satisfaction of current life were not statistically significant. An additional analysis was conducted by dividing the age, the number of dependents by two groups respectively. To summarize the results, preparation for old life played a significant role as a prerequisite for improving the satisfaction of current life. And the variability(risk) of current income played an important role in preparing for old life. At this time, the degree of relevance between the factors(potential variables) differed somewhat between the two groups. The results of this analysis will be meaningful in providing basic source of data to prepare for a satisfactory life in each individual's current situation. This study, meanwhile, has limitations that have only been done with cross-sectional analysis and would like to analyze time-series changes in the future.

Using structural equation modeling, this study sought to examine the structural causality between elderly age norms, social activities, and life satisfaction and to determine the moderating effect of death preparation activities. The analysis was conducted using data for 6,288 people over 65 years old, plus their spouses and children, taken from the '2017 National Survey of Older Koreans.' The study found, first, that the more positive the age norms to which the older person subscribes, the more their social activities increase. Second, as these social activities increase, the level of life satisfaction also increases. Third, the more positive the age norms to which the older person subscribes, the more the level of life satisfaction increases. Fourth, there is a significant positive mediating effect of social activity in the relationship between the age norms of the older person and life satisfaction. Fifth, there is a significant moderating effect of death preparation activities in the structural relationship between age norms, social activities, and life satisfaction that specifically impacts the age norm-life satisfaction relationship. Based on these results, practical plans to improve elderly people's life satisfaction are recommended.

The main objective of this study was to investigate how people prepare for old age by looking at financial statements from single-person households in Gyeonggi province; the policy implications regarding low fertility and population aging are considered. The subjects were members of 600 households who were aged 26 to 44 years old and not married. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and dichotomous logistic regression using SPSS WIN 12.0. Respondents pointed out that financial problems are the greatest challenges for those facing old age in single-person households; they said that a stable job is the most important factor for secure living. About 57% of household residents responded that they have prepared for retirement, and a majority of them said they hoped to spend their elderly years with a marriage partner. The financial statements from single-person households were inferior to those from other types of households. The assets of single-person household members were less than those of other households. Only 10.5% of respondents have owned homes. The study discusses policy implications for those who want marriage and for those who don't want it. For those who want marriage, job-seeking support was proposed, and for the others, tax deductions and family programs for single-person households were proposed.
