  • This paper aims at describing a series development of the electrical machine, by using the Similarity Theory. The character of the electrical machine defined as the Four Terminal Network of the electrical and mechanical energy transmission system, and the analogy theory of the modelmachine can be developed by the Four Termianl System. Also the Restriction Parameter and Disturbance Parameter can be founded by the comparative data of the developed machine that is the character of the theory and measurement.

  • A remote data communication system for monitoring of NC machine fault diagnosis and status is developed. This system communicates with host PC by using dial-up communication method on PSTN. The developed system consists of (1)remote communication module among NC's and host PC using PSTN, (2) 8 channels analog data sensing module, (3) digital I/O module for control of NC machine, (4) communication module between NC machine and remote data communication system using RS-232c, and (5) Software man-machine interface. This system may be applied for remote sensing of the status in Fms. To show the veridity of the developed system, several examples are illustrated.

  • We present a framework of an intelligent design support system for embodiment design of machine tools which can support efficiently and systematically the machine design by utilizing design knowledge such as objects(part), know-how, public, evaluation, and procedures. The design knowledge of machining center has been accumulated through interview with design experts of machine tool companies. The processes of embodiment design of machining center are established. We also introduce a hybrid knowledge representation so that the systm can easily deal with various and complicated design knowledge. The intelligent design system is being developed on the basis of object-oriented programming, and all parts of a design object, machining center, are also classified by the object-oriented modeling. For the demonstration of effectiveness of the suggested system, a structural design system for machine tools is implemented.

  • To improve the accuracy of products and improve the product quality, we need to enhance the machining accuracy of the machine tools. To this point of view, measurement and inspection of finished part as well as error analysis of machine tools has been studied for last several decades. OMM(On the Machine Measurement) has been issued to alternate with CMM, pointing out disadvantages of high expenses and lots of setting time in CMM. In this paper, we study 1) the spherical surface manufacturing by volumetric error compensation of machine tool, 2) the system development of OMM without detaching work piece from a bed of machine tool after working. 3) the generation of the finished part profile by On the machine measurement. Furthermore, the output of OMM is compared with that of CMM, and verified the feasibility of the measurement system.

  • In this paper, we studied the error compensation using an error budget method for repeatability improvement of the precision positioning system. The precision positioning system is developed for micro-pressing machine. We performed the force and displacement analysis about parts of the system. Proposed system determines the position and orientation of the materials manufactured by micro-pressing machine. It is consisted of x-y-z linear stages setting the position, and the gripper system setting the orientation. We executed kinematic and dynamic modeling of the whole precision positioning system.   • FEM analysis is essential to shorten the development time and reduce the cost for developing high-performance machine tools. Mount joint parts play important role to ensure static and dynamic stability of machine tools. This paper suggests a computational modeling of mount joint part of machine tools. MATRIX27 element of ANSYS is adopted to model mount joint parts. MATRIX27 allows the definition of stiffness and damping matrices in matrix form. The matrix is assumed to relate two nodes, each with six degrees of freedom per node. Stiffness and damping values of commercial mount products are measured to build a database for FEM analysis. Jack mounts with rubber pad are exemplified in this paper. The database extracted from the experiments is also used to estimate of stiffness and damping of untested mounts. FEM analysis of machine tools system with the suggested mount computational model is performed. Static and dynamic results prove the feasibility of the suggested mount model.

  • This paper presented a linear motion accuracy by using two-dimensional probe with the master block and the square for NC machine tools. This measuring system could be measured motion error due to numerical control system. The results of measurement and simulation for motion error were similar, and so, this system had enough accuracy to measure a linear motion accuracy for NC machine tools. The experimental results are as follows. 1. This measuring system could be measured motion error due to mumerical control system. 2. The results of measurement and simulation for motion error were similar. 3. This measuring system had enough accuracy to measure a linear motion accuracy for NC machine tools.

  • This paper describes the mechanism of parallel micro machine platform and its feedback control system for acquiring high accuracy. The parallel micro machine platform that has developed has 5x5x5 work-space and sub-micron accuracy. For the high accuracy, the feedback control system is important but errors in machining and assembling are inevitable. Kinematic calibration is important for this reason. In this paper, various error components are introduced and the effects of error component are analyzed.
