  • Recently, ultra precision and light-weight micro products are needed in various industries. Injection molding products with metal insert material is often satisfied with light-weight and precision simultaneously. The researches on macro-size insert deformation have been performed but, a research on micro-size insert is meager. In this paper, the injection molding product with $300{\mu}m$ thin foil insert is designed and insert injection molding process is performed. Finally, the deformation of thin foil insert is analyzed according to insert feature and gate length.

박판 플라스틱 부품의 Outsert Molding 기술에 대한 연구 (A Study of Outsell Molding Technology for Thin-walled Plastic Part)

  • A work of thin-walled outsell injection molding technology for a plastic part of moldframe applicable in a display product was performed in the present study. The thin-walled plastic part is one of the core parts in the display product, which supports and protects a light guide plate and back light unit from external environmental conditions. It globally has the shape of rectangular and surrounds the light guide plate and back light unit for each class of inch, however, the cross section of the part is not clear to define the thickness. This causes the difficult problem of injection molding itself for the part. Moreover, a metal outsell part makes a difficult problem in injection molding over it. Because the mold temperature control of the parts are not uniform in thickness direction due to the metal part. A careful injection melding analysis and injection mold design from the analysis results have to be proceeded to obtain a production of precision moldframe. Therefore, optimization for injection molding process and analysis of warpage characteristics were studied. Consequently, it was possible from the presented virtual manufacturing process that the manufacturing of precision thin-walled outsell moldframe.

  • Micro injection molding is a branch of micro system technology and has been under development for the mass manufacture of micro parts. Enhanced technological products like micro optical devices are entering the market. This paper presents fundamental research on the injection molding technique in micro fabrication. In order to successful manufacturing of micro plastic parts, it is necessary to research for development of micro-injection machine, machining of micro mold, decision of optimum injection conditions and the research for polymer material. Therefore in this study, in order to machining of micro mold, a mold core with microscopic V-shaped groove was tooled by ultra-precise tooling machine. The transcription experiments with a polymer, PMMA resin on the surface of core with Ni plating were carried out and surface profile of injected parts was measured with AFM.

사출성형에서 밀핀 흔적의 형성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Formation of Ejector-Pin Hollowness in Injection Molding)

  • This paper presents formation of ejector-pin hollowness in injection molding. Injection molding process is widely used in production of plastic part for good dimensional accuracy and high productivity. However, the injection molding leaves ejector-pin hollowness on pal, which causes bad part surface and quality. Dimensions and profiles of ejector-pin hollowness are measured for formation or ejector-pin hollowness. The formation of ejector-pin hollowness is traced with dimensions and profiles of ejector-pin hollowness. The compression force and moment cause ejector-pin to form hollowness on part surface.

  • Recently, reaction injection molding has been used broadly for rapid prototyping, because of its convenience and versatility. Since the properties of molded products are dependent on the process variables and the production is very short(less than 2minutes), the control of process variables is important. Generally, the two significant process variables are degree of cure and temperature of the reactants. In this paper, the relation between the degree of cure and the temperature of reactants was investigated to find the optimal curing condition of reaction injection molding for rapid prototyping. The degree of cure during reaction injection molding was measured by the Lacomtech sensor and dielectrometry equipment employing Wheatstone bridge type circuit.

원통형 플라스틱 성형품의 싱크 마크를 최소화하기 위한 사출성형 조건의 최적화 (Optimization of Injection Molding to Minimize Sink Marks for Cylindrical Geometry)

  • This paper describes the optimization of injection molding conditions to minimize sink marks. Sink marks, which refer to a small depression on the surface opposite a thick wall thickness, are often encounted in injection molded plastic parts. Part geometry, material properties and processing conditions during injection molding can affect the sink mark depth. We designed the runner system which is possible balanced filling to cavities using CAE program $Moldflow^{TM}$ and then obtained optimal processing conditions by Taguchi's Robust Design technique. By actual injection molding using optimized mold and molding conditions, it confirmed that sink mark depth decreased zero compared to 1mm level in the conventional mold and process.
