Cross-coupled Control with a New Contour Error Model (새로운 윤곽 오차 모델을 이용한 상호 결합 제어)

  • The higher precision in manufacturing field is demanded, the more accurate servo controller is needed. To achieve the high precision, Koren proposed the cross-coupled control (CCC) method. The objective of the CCC is reducing the contour error rather than decreasing the individual axial error. The performance of CCC depends on the contour error model. In this paper we propose a new contour error model which utilizes contour error vector based on parametric curve interpolator. The experimental results show that the new CCC is more accurate than the variable-gain CCC during free-form curve motion.

High precision 3-dimensional object measurement using slit type of laser projector (슬리트형 레이저 투광기를 이용한 고정밀 3차원 물체계측)

  • In this paper, we designed a line CCD camera for a flying image, which is composed of a line CCD sensor(2048 cells) and a rotating mirror, and investigated its optical properties. We also made the 3-D image from the flying image which is made of 2-D image being juxtaposed to 1-D images obtained by the camera, and performed the calibration to acquire high precision 3-D data. As a result, we obtained the 3-D measurement system using the slit type of laser projector is available to measure the high precision shape of objects.

  • A recent development in the Flat Panel Display(FPD) industry requires an auto-alignment system which is operated in high speed and high precision. In the FPD production process, aligning photo-mask with respect to guide mark printed in the glass should be accomplished in the accuracy of sub-micron order. So the system has high bandwidth and needs a dedicated control system which is fast and robust enough to control linear motors in precise manner. Proposed auto-alignment system structure in this presentation which consists of the master controller board, the DSP position controller board which controls 3 axis precision linear motors, the servo system and the man machine interface software. Designed and tuned under repeated experiments, the proposed system showed a reasonable performance in the aspect of rise time and steady state error.

  • In order to respond to the increasing demands of ultraprecision positioning mechanism in the field of precision engineering, more accurate stages are needed whose positioning uncertainty should be in the unprecedented level of nanometers, while maintaining a long travek range. For this application, most conventional stage mechanisms are found not suitable, so the concept of dual servo, which uses two different servos, is one of the new design and control strategies being extensively investigated these days, This paper presents a fine motion mechanism as a part of research on the dual servo control. The stage is made of a single structure of elastic flexure, whose xy .theta. motions are induced in the form of elastic deformation activated by three piezoelectric actuators. Experimental results show that the translational and rotational motions of the stage can be controlled with resolutions of 5 nm and 0.1 arcsec, respectively.

  • Recently, the needs of machining technologies of very small parts have been increasing with advent of micro-revolution. These technologies have mostly used the method applied to semi-conductor production process such as LIGA, etc. But they have serious difficulties to settle down in terms of workpiece materials, machining thickness, 3-dimensional structure. Therefore. mciro-machining technology using EDM(Electrical Discharge Machining) was proposed. It is very difficult to machine the micro-parts (microshaft, microhole) using conventional machining. Micro-machining using BDM can machine the micro-parts easily because it requires little machining force. This MEDM(Micro-EDM) need the capabilities to move a electrode and control a discharge energy precisely, and the gap control strategy to maintain the optimal discharge condition is necessary. Therefore, in this study, the new EDM machine with high precision motion stage and high-performance EDM device was developed. Using this MEDM machine, we have machined microshaft and microhole with various shapes and sizes.

  • An underwater robotic system has been developed and applied to visual inspection of reactor vessel internals. The Korea Electric Power Robot for Visual Test (KeproVt) consists of an underwater robot, a vision processor-based measuring unit, a master control station and a servo control station. The robot guided by the control station with the measuring unit can be controlled to have any motion at any position in the reactor vessel with $\pm$1 cm positioning and $\pm$2 degrees heading accuracies with enough precision to inspect reactor internals. A simple and fast installation process is emphasized in the developed system. The developed robotic system was successfully deployed at the Younggwang Nuclear Unit 1 for the visual inspection of reactor internals.

  • Non-uniform minute deformation of a cylinderical workpiece resulted from the heat treatment process prior to the grinding makes it diffeclt to control the approaching feedrate of a grinding wheelto a workpiece optimallywithout on-site detection of the grinding states in the plunge grinding. The 4-stage model of the plunge grinding process is proposed according to the state of contact between grinding wheel and workpiece ; precontact, partial contact, entire contact and spark-out. Despite of being scrious to the precision of workpiece finished, the duration of spark-out is determined empirically. The purpose of this research is to develop a monitoring/control system for saving non- production time and setting the optimal spark-out time based on sensor information in the plunge grinding using AE and ultra sonic sensor.

  • Higher productivity requires high-speed motion of machine tool axes. The iron core linear DC motor (LDM) is widely accepted as a viable candidate for high-speed machine tool feed unit. LDM, however, has two inherent disturbance force components, namely cogging and thrust force ripple. These disturbance forces directly affect the tracking accuracy of the feeding system and must be eliminated or reduced. In order to reduce motor ripple, this research adapted the feedforward compensation method and neural network control. Experiments carried out with the linear motor test setup show that these control methods are effective in reducing motor ripple.

  • A new algorithm based upon TDC (Time Delay Control) is proposed to improve the robustness of TDC performance in systems where the stick-slip friction is strong. Experiments were performed at the different levels of friction. The reponses of the TDC and the modified TDC were compared each other, and against those of a PID controller with an anti-windup. The results show that the TDC and the modified TDC equally perform better than the PID, and that the modified TDC performs consistently well even with variations in the friction level while the TDC does not.
