  • In this paper, we studied the error compensation using an error budget method for repeatability improvement of the precision positioning system. The precision positioning system is developed for micro-pressing machine. We performed the force and displacement analysis about parts of the system. Proposed system determines the position and orientation of the materials manufactured by micro-pressing machine. It is consisted of x-y-z linear stages setting the position, and the gripper system setting the orientation. We executed kinematic and dynamic modeling of the whole precision positioning system.   • In this paper, experimental studies are mainly carried out for the evaluation of precision cutting performance of a machine tool spincle running at high speed with the low load, in consideration of the bending vibration characteristics. As a result a process in presented for the practical application in the machine tools industry to evaluate the cutting performance in design stage of spindles.

Design and Estimation of a Spindle System for Centerless Grinding Machine (무심연삭기 주축계의 설계 및 성능평가)

  • Design and estimation of a spindle system which was composed of grinding spindle and regulating spindle for the centerless grinding of ferrule was performed and prototypes of each spindle were manufactured. Loop stiffness of the spindle system was 130 N/${\mu}m$. Although the value was lower than the target value of 150 N/${\mu}m$, as there included 20% of the safety factor, it was enough to machine the ferrule. Rotational accuracies of each spindle were about 0.2${\mu}m$ at the primary speed of 2,300 rpm(grinding spindle) and 300 rpm(regulating spindle). Temperature rises at the same speed were about $4.4\;\~\;4.7^{\circ}C$ in the case of grinding spindle and $1.8^{\circ}C$in the case of regulating spindle, which were well agreed with the designed value. From these results, it was estimated that the prototype of spindle system had a enough performances for the centerless grinding machine to machine the ferrule.

  • Rotating machine is used extensively and plays important roles in the industrial field. Therefore when rotating machine get out of order, it is necessary to know reasons then deal with the troubles immediately. So many studies far diagnosis of rotating machine are being done. However by this time most of study has an interest in gaining a high recognition But without considering error $rate^{(1)(2)(3)}$ , it is not desirable enough to apply h the actual application system. If the manager of system receives the result misjudging the condition of rotating machine and takes measures, we would lose heavily. So in order to play the creditable diagnosis, we must consider error rate. T h ~ t is. it must be able to reject the result of misjudgment. This study uses nearest neighbor classifier for diagnosis of rotating $machine^{(4)(8)}$ And the Smith's rejection $method^{(1)}$ used to recognize handwritten charter is done. Consequently creditable diagnosis of rotating machine is proposed.

Estimation of a Volumetric Error of a Machine Tool Considering the Moving Direction of a Machine Tool (방향성을 고려한 공작기계 입체오차의 평가)

  • In this paper, an extended volumetric error model considering backlash in a three-axis machine tool was proposed and utilized for calculating the volumetric error of the machine tool at any position in three-dimensional workspace. Backlashes are interrelated; i.e. the angular backlash affects the straightness errors which then affect the calculated squareness errors. Therefore, a new concept was introduced to define the backlash of squareness errors to incorporate the backlash of squareness error into the volumetric error, and the characteristics of the backlash of squareness error were investigated. The effects of backlash errors were assessed, by experiments, fur 21 geometric errors of a machine tool. The backlash error was shown to be one of the systematic errors of a machine tool. Based on this volumetric error model, a computer-aided volumetric error analysis system was developed for a three-axis machine tool in this paper. Then the volumetric error at an arbitrary position can be obtained, and displayed in a three-dimensional graphic form.
