REDUCTION CHARACTERISTICS OF NOx STORAGE CATALYST FOR LEAN-BURN NATURAL GAS VEHICLES

  • Various types of NOx storage catalysts for NGV's were designed, manufactured, and tested in this work on a model gas test bench. As in most of other studies on NOx storage catalyst, alkaline earth metal barium(Ba) was used as the NOx adsorbing substance. The barium-based experimental catalysts were designed to contain different amounts of Ba and precious metals at various ratios. Reaction tests were performed to investigate the NOx storage capacity and the NOx conversion efficiency of the experimental catalysts. From the results, it was found that when Ba loading of a catalyst was increased, the quantity of NOx stored in the catalyst increased in the high temperature range over 350. With more Ba deposition, the NOx conversion efficiency as well as its peak value increased in the high temperature range, but decreased in the low temperature range. The best of de-NOx catalyst tested in this study was catalyst B, which was loaded with 42.8 g/L of Ba in addition to Pt, Pd and Rh in the ratio of 7:7:1. In the low temperature range under $450^{\circ}C$, the NOx conversion efficiencies of the catalysts were lower when $CH_4$, instead of either $C_3H_6$ or $C_3H_8$, was used as the reductant.

Recovery of Platinum from Spent Petroleum Catalysts by Substrate Dissolution in Sulfuric Acid

  • Spent catalysts containing platinum were generated in petroleum refinery and other chemical industries. The reclamation of precious metals from such wastes has long been attempted in view of their rare, expensive and indispensable nature. In this study, the recovery of platinum from petroleum catalysts was attempted by a method consisting mainly of dissolving alumina substrate with sulfuric acid thereby concentrating insoluble platinum. Also, platinum dissolved partially in sulfuric acid was recovered by a cementation method using aluminum metal as a reductive agent. The effect of temperature, time, concentration of sulfuric acid. and pulp density on the dissolution of substrate was investigated. When the substrate of platinum catalyst was ${\gamma}$-AI$_2$O$_3$ about 95% alumina was dissolved in 6.0M sulfuric acid at 10$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. When the substrate was the mixture of ${\gamma}$-A1$_2$O$_3$and $\alpha$-A1$_2$O$_3$about 92% was dissolved after 4 hours. As a result, more than 99% of platinum could be recovered by this method and aluminum sulfate was obtained as byproduct.

  • 에나멜 도장장치의 건조 과정에서는 유해한 VU가 다량 배출된다. 이 VOC 가스는 촉매연소를 통해 완전 소각될 수 있으며, 소각되는 과정에서 발생된 열은 공정에 다시 사용할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 기술적 특성을 이용하여 환경개선과 에너지 절감 효과가 뛰어난 에나멜 도장장치를 개발하였다. 이를 위한 기초 연구로서 촉매의 VOC 가스에 대한 연소 특성 및 성능 평가와 수치해석이 수행되었다. 연구 결과에 의하면, 고온에서 VOC에 대한 금속 촉매 폼의 성능은 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 건조 과정이 효율적으로 진행되기 위해서는 재 순환 가스 공급량 및 건조 가스 흡입량의 정밀한 조절이 가능한 구조로 설계되어져야 함을 보여 주었다.

Physicochemical Characteristics Based on Hydrothermal Aging of Prepared DOC

  • This paper reports the investigation of the physical and chemical characteristics of the prepared 3Pt-2MgO-$3ZrO_2$-$2CeO_2/Al_2O_3$ DOC, based on its hydrothermal aging. As a result of impregnating and reducing the $H_2PtCl_6$ $6H_2O$ precursor on a ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ basis, it was well dispersed into small particles with the range 2-3nm. This was because the $Al_2O_3$ acted as a barrier to prevent movement of the catalyst particles. For a hydrothermally aged catalyst for 9h at $700^{\circ}C$, its performance when purifying harmful gases decreased compared to a fresh catalyst, but its specific surface area was at the same level. This was because the performance of the catalyst was reduced by the sintering of the precious metal Pt, rather than by washcoat sintering and pore clogging. For an excessively hydrothermally aged catalyst for 9h at $850^{\circ}C$, Pt grew into an approximately 50nm class, formed a cluster compared to a fresh catalyst. The $CeO_2$ promoters also formed clusters among components of the same type, reducing their specific surface area to $114m^2/g$, which was 14% less than a fresh catalyst.

고다공성 카본 에어로젤(C-Aerogel) 표면 특성 (Surface Properties of the High Porous Carbon Aerogels)

  • The pyrolysized carbon xerogel and aerogels were prepared from the sol-gel polymerization of resorcinol-formaldehyde(RF) followed by the dry process under ambient pressure and supercritical carbon dioxide condition respectively. The thermal behaviour of RF polymer xerogel was investigated with TGA analyzer to correspond with the pyrolysis process. The surface properties such as particle size, morphology and the point of zero charge of the pyrolysized porous carbon aerogels were studied for the precious metal catalyst supported media. It was found that the volume of the polymer aerogel decreased because of the significant linear shrinkage and weight loss of polymer gel during the carbonization. The point of zero charge of the carbon aerogel pyrolysized at $1050^{\circ}C$ under inert gas flow was about 10.

  • Fit of the restoration and its cementation procedure is crucial to both its short and long term prognosis. Marginal fit is affected by many variables during the fabrication process. These variables, being intrinsic properties of the materials or the clinical technique used, can cause changes in the size and shape of the definitive restoration. Even if all variables are controlled carefully, the seating of a restoration can still be affected due to insufficient space for the luting agent. The use of die spacer can reduce the elevation of a cast restoration of a prepared tooth, decreased seating time, improve the outflow of excess cement, and lower the seating forces. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal fidelity according to die spacer application times and measurement site. Casting alloys were prepared and fabricated using non-precious metal at $950^{\circ}C$. Specimens are divided into four groups: I(die spacer painted casting for wax pattern), II(die spacer non painted casting for wax pattern). The specimens were cut and polished for marginal gap observation. The marginal gap was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

ARMA-GARCH 모형에 의한 중국 금 선물 시장 가격 변동에 대한 분석 및 예측 (Volatility analysis and Prediction Based on ARMA-GARCH-typeModels: Evidence from the Chinese Gold Futures Market)

  • Due to the impact of the public health event COVID-19 epidemic, the Chinese futures market showed "Black Swan". This has brought the unpredictable into the economic environment with many commodities falling by the daily limit, while gold performed well and closed in the sunshine(Yan-Li and Rui Qian-Wang, 2020). Volatility is integral part of financial market. As an emerging market and a special precious metal, it is important to forecast return of gold futures price. This study selected data of the SHFE gold futures returns and conducted an empirical analysis based on the generalised autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH)-type model. Comparing the statistics of AIC, SC and H-QC, ARMA (12,9) model was selected as the best model. But serial correlation in the squared returns suggests conditional heteroskedasticity. Next part we established the autoregressive moving average ARMA-GARCH-type model to analysis whether Volatility Clustering and the leverage effect exist in the Chinese gold futures market. we consider three different distributions of innovation to explain fat-tailed features of financial returns. Additionally, the error degree and prediction results of different models were evaluated in terms of mean squared error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), Theil inequality coefficient(TIC) and root mean-squared error (RMSE). The results show that the ARMA(12,9)-TGARCH(2,2) model under Student's t-distribution outperforms other models when predicting the Chinese gold futures return series.

제일원리 전산모사법을 이용한 폐양액 수전해용 코발트 산화물 촉매의 흡착 이온 특성 연구 (Investigating adsorption ion characteristics on cobalt oxides catalyst in electrolysis of waste alkaline solutions using ab-initio study)

  • In the industry, it is recognized that human activities significantly lead to a large amount of wastewater, mainly due to the increased use of water and energy. As a result, the growing field of wastewater resource technology is getting more attention. The common technology for hydrogen production, water electrolysis, requires purified water, leading to the need for desalination and reprocessing. However, producing hydrogen directly from wastewater could be a more cost-effective option compared to traditional methods. To achieve this, a series of first-principle computational simulations were conducted to assess how waste nutrient ions affect standard electrolysis catalysts. This study focused on understanding the adsorption mechanisms of byproducts related to the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolysis, using Co3O4 as a typical non-precious metal catalyst. At the same time, efforts were made to develop a comprehensive free energy prediction model for more accurate predictions of OER results.

  • 수소발생 및 저장 물질로서 붕수소화나트륨($NaBH_4$)은 촉매 분해반응을 통하여 수소를 생성할 수 있는데, 이 프로타이드 화합물을 이용하여 가정용 또는 이동용 연료전지의 수소를 공급할 수 있어서, 이 화합물과 분해반응에 대한 연구가 많이 수행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 알칼리성 $NaBH_4$ 수용액을 귀금속이 담지된 금속산화물 촉매를 이용하여 가수분해반응을 일으키고, 그 분해반응 산물인 수소의 발생량을 측정하였다. 지지체로 사용한 금속산화물의 종류를 비교하고, 함침된 귀금속으로서 백금과 루테늄을 비교하였으며, 촉매사용량, $NaBH_4$ 용액의 농도 등의 영향을 고찰하고, 수소 발생 패턴을 조사하였다.

Goldish Yellow Color인 수종(數種)의 치과용(齒科用) 비귀금속합금(非貴金屬合金) 경도(硬度), 강도(强度) 및 미세조직(微細組織)의 비교(比較)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Comparison of hardness, Strength and Microstructure of dental Non-precious Metal Alloys Colored Goldish Yeller)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the comparison of physical properties of nonprecious metal alloys colored goldish yellow. The experimental groups were copper based dental alloy and control group was Ni-Cr based dental alloy used crown and bridges frameworks. Hardness was tested by vickers hardness tester, tensile strength was tested by universal tension tester. After testing the tensile strength of castings, the microstrucure and the pattern of fracture were investigated by scanning electron microscope and metallurgical microscope. The results were as follows : Hardness of Ni based alloy was higher than Cu based alloys. Hardness number of A group was 200.41$\pm$16.10 Hv, B group was 194.33$\pm$1.69 Hv, C group was 139.29$\pm$2.19 Hv and D group was 293.81$\pm$27.17 Hv, respectively. Tensile strength of D group was 56.42$\pm$6.17 $kg/m^2$, A group was 50.39$\pm$5.68 $kg/m^2$, C group was 45.13$\pm$4.53 $kg/m^2$, B group was 45.25$\pm$9.25 $kg/m^2$, in order, and D group was maximum tensile strength. The fractured surfaces of tensile specimens in the all groups showed the tendency to form large voids in the center of specimens. Thus the ductile fracture was changed into the brittle fracture with the fine grain size.
