Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the changes in reality shock among new nurses and their influencing factors to identify turnover reduction methods. Methods: A total of 146 new nurses from 6 general hospitals participated in the survey. The survey data were collected from August 5 to November 10, 2015. Results: The mean scores for factors related to turn over were 2.75 for nurse practice environment, 2.84 (4point scale) for reality shock, and 3.08 (5point scale) for turnover intention. A significant difference in the impact of reality shock was observed depending on whether the nurses selected their work unit (F=6.24, p=.003) and whether they could take the possibility of holiday on the desired day at will (t=-2.57, p=.013). Changes in reality shock correlated with turnover intention, with the 'increased reality shock' group demonstrating an odds ratio of 2.37 (CI: 1.41~3.98) for turnover intention. Conclusion: The current findings indicate the need for lowering reality shock and turnover intention by considering nurses' work-related characteristics and improving their practice environments. To further study the changes in reality shock new nurses experienced, additional research is warranted while homogenizing the participants in terms of preceptorship duration and timing of independence.
The quantitative expansion of nursing schools has necessitated the qualitative improvement of nursing education, which requires the development of nursing education for clinical practice. To identify strategies for strengthening the educational capacity of clinical fields and nursing schools, this study first examined the current status of nursing education for clinical practice, and then proposed several prospective directions for education. Nursing clinical practice-related studies from several Korean and international electronic databases were reviewed. Insufficient training hospitals and lack of qualified clinical training instructors were the main problems found within nursing educational resources for clinical practice, while the simple practice contents based on observation and inadequate evaluations were the main problems found in nursing educational management for clinical practice. This study suggests better standards and educational accountability for training hospitals and programs to nurture human resources for clinical practice, as well as a variety of training methods to integrate practical training courses and the expansion of formation evaluation. Based on these results, it is necessary to establish governance for nursing education for clinical practice and clarify the role and standards of each practitioner, strengthen the educational role of the hospital, and improve the system. In addition, introducing various types of education methods and strengthening evaluation standards are needed in order to enhance nursing education for clinical practice.

Purpose: The objective of this study was to collect the basic data for improving the quality of nursing education by identifying the teaching efficiency of the ordered clinical nursing education by preceptor which was accepted by Gachongil College since 2001. Method: The data was collected from 30 Sept to 20 Oct 2002. The subjects of this study were 240 nursing students, junior 2nd term trained by the preceptors and 137 preceptors of 12 hospitals located in Inchon, Gyong Ki-do, and Seoul. The scale for measuring the teaching effectiveness, developed by Kim Miae et al.(1998), was employed as a tool for me study. The data was analysed by SPSS using mean value(SD), and ANOVA. Results: Mean value of teaching efficiency of preceptors evaluated by me nursing students scored 3.68(maximum 5). For 5 causal factors classified en the teaching efficiency, the factor of "teaching method and evaluation" showed the highest score, but "available as resource person" get the lowest. Items showing high score en teaching efficiency were "overall effectiveness of teacher", "was able to work with staff in cooperative manner", but the item of was unclear in instructions given to me showed the lowest. The psychiatric ward get the highest score, but cardiac catheterization room showed the lowest. The hospital 10 showed the highest score, but the hospital 8 get the lowest. Conclusion: As the findings from this study, the ordered clinical nursing education by preceptor showed higher teaching efficiency than the conventional education. Thus, cooperative relationship between nursing colleges and hospitals shall be suggested for improving the quality of clinical nursing education, and ordered clinical nursing education system.
The purpose of this study is to identify learning attitudes, problem-solving skills, critical thinking tendencies, and the effects on learning attitudes for dental hygienist. It was. The data analysis method analyzed the general characteristics of the subjects, and the learning attitude, critical thinking disposition, and problem solving ability were examined with the mean, standard deviation, and correlation between each variable. t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical regression analysis were used for the study attitude, critical thinking tendency, and problem solving ability according to the general characteristics of the study subjects. As a result of this study, grades were the most influential variables, and self-confidence and skepticism influenced learning attitudes as a sub-factor of critical thinking. In this study, the first grade of dental hygiene and enrolled students was the highest. Development of programs to effectively raise critical thinking tendency and problem solving ability for first graders, and research on characteristics of learners, major satisfaction, adaptation to college life, problem-based learning and preceptorship should be continuously conducted. It is feed.
The purpose of this study was to compare perception of importance and performance of the preceptor's role in clinical education between nursing students and preceptor nurses. Data were collected using a questionaire from 339 nursing students and 52 preceptor nurses. The perceived importance of preceptor's role was higher than the performance. Also, the perceived importance of the preceptor's role was correlated with the performance of nursing students only. It is essential to consider importance and performance of the preceptor's role in developing clinical education program for nursing students. These findings suggest that the guideline for role model and the strategies to increase performance of the preceptor's role are needed.

Purpose: The study is to confirm the influence of self-efficacy, critical thinking disposition, self-leadership, and communication competency on the core competencies of the preceptor. Methods: Data were collected from August 27 to September 7, 2017 using structured questionnaires for 127 preceptors at a general hospital located in Korea. SPSS/Win 23.0 was used to analyze the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean score of the core competencies of the preceptors was $3.94{\pm}0.35$ (range 1-5); self-efficacy was $3.88{\pm}0.49$; critical thinking disposition was $3.54{\pm}0.36$; self-leadership was $3.66{\pm}0.39$; communication competency was $3.71{\pm}0.35$. There were no statistically significant differences between the core competencies of the preceptor and general characteristics. The core competencies of the preceptors were significantly correlated with self-efficacy (r=.61, p<.001), critical thinking disposition (r=.69, p<.001), self-leadership (r=.59, p<.001), and communication competency (r=.58, p<.001). The core competencies of the preceptors were affected by critical thinking disposition (${\beta}=.54$, p<.001), followed by communication competency (${\beta}=.24$, p<.001). The explanatory power by the factors was 51% (F=63.66, p<.001). Conclusion: The results suggest that critical thinking disposition and communication competency are important predictors of the core competencies of the preceptors.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Clinical Teaching Behavior Inventory (CTBI). Methods: The English CTBI-23 was translated into Korean with forward and backward translation. Survey data were collected from 280 nurses' preceptors at five acute-care hospitals in Korea. Content validity, construct validity, and criterion-related validity were evaluated. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was used to assess reliability. SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 22.0 software was used for data analysis. Results: The CTBI Korean version consists of 22 items in six domains, including being committed to teaching, building a learning atmosphere, using appropriate teaching strategies, guiding inter-professional communication, providing feedback and evaluation, and showing concern and support. One of the items in the CTBI was excluded with a standardized factor loading of less than .05. The confirmatory factor analysis supported good fit and reliable scores for the Korean version of the CTBI model. A six-factor structure was validated ($x^2=366.30$, p<.001, CMIN/df=2.0, RMSEA=.06, RMR=.03, SRMR=.05, GFI=.90, IFI=.94, TLI=.92, CFI=.94). The criterion validity of the core competency evaluation tool for preceptors was .77 (p<.001). The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for the overall scale was .93, and the six subscales ranged from .72 to .85. Conclusion: The Korean version CTBI-22 is a valid and reliable instrument for identifying the clinical teaching behaviors of preceptors in Korea. The CTBI-22 also could be used as a guide for the effective teaching behavior of preceptors, which can help new nurses adapt to the practicalities of nursing.

Purpose: The introduction of community-based medical education would help improve the quality of primary care. This paper suggests learning objectives and an educational program for community-based medical education. Methods: The educational program was developed in a 1-day consensus workshop. Twenty experts, including faculty members from family medicine department of a college of medicine in Seoul and community-based preceptors, participated in the program. A needs-assessment survey was conducted among community-based preceptors before the workshop. Through this workshop, we derived learning objectives and a standardized curriculum for community-based medical education. Results: In the questionnaire before the workshop, community-based preceptors voiced concerns over the program's potential costs and the time required for teaching. The learning objectives and educational programs derived from the workshop's consensus were consistent with the characteristics of the primary care. Based on the results of this workshop, the joint expert team developed a standard educational program on two core topics: clinical teaching and mentoring. Conclusion: From this curriculum development process, participants could construct a more standardized curriculum for community-based medical education. Future studies are needed to evaluate the long-term outcomes of these educational programs, such as the learners' satisfaction and achievement.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the types of perception toward non-face-to-face clinical practice and to characterize the types of students who experienced online clinical practice during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods: Q-methodology was used in this study, and 270 Q populations were formed based on in-depth interviews with 10 nursing students who had experienced non-face-to-face clinical practice, as well as related literature. Interviews were performed from August 1 to 31, 2022. A total of 42 Q samples were extracted, and Q sorting was performed on 33 nursing students who had experienced non-face-to-face clinical practice. A Q factor analysis was performed using the PC-QUANL program. Results: The nursing students' perceptions of non-face-to-face clinical practice were classified into the following five types: "future professional competency-focused type," "realistic convenience priority type," "task burden awareness type," "negative critic type," and "limited experience dissatisfaction type." Conclusion: This study revealed non-face-to-face clinical practice's positive and negative aspects in nursing education. Moreover, it identified the aspects of clinical practice that cannot be replaced by non-face-to-face clinical practice and the elements of non-face-to-face practice that can complement clinical practice. These findings can be used as fundamental data to establish a stable and efficient system for improving the quality of clinical practice in the post-COVID-19 era and to implement effective non-face-to-face clinical practice according to student types.
