As for a possibility of using high volume of recycled aggregate in concrete mixture, recycled fine one which is known to be worse in quality and hard to control was selected and investigated in terms of performance of mortar as the replacement ratio to natural fine aggregate was changed. As a result of test, it is found that grade of recycled fine aggregate was beyond standard one and fineness modulus of that itself was increased in compare to natural one. In case of making mortar with recycled fine aggregate, disadvantageous results such as less fluidity and air content including the increase of dry shrinkage were shown but strengths of mortar were comparable to the one making with natural aggregate, which means that planned strength of common concrete structure can be achieved by controlling W/C and the amount of chemical admixture, and also that large amount of recycled fine aggregate is applicable to the precast concrete products generally free to the amount of water.
The PCS system, which consists of precast concrete column and steel beam, is a kind of composite structural systems. In this paper, experimental study has been conducted to analyze seismic performance of bolted beam-to-column connections for the PCS system. Based on experimental results from the seismic testing of eight interior PCS specimens, it shows that behavior of PCS system is satisfactory to seismic performance criteria of ACI such as strength deterioration, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity except initial stiffness. All of the specimens maintain their strength at large levels of story drift without significant loss of stiffness and show high ductility level for inelastic behavior. The energy dissipation capacity is two times greater than requirement of ACI criterion. But the initial stiffness of all specimens does not satisfy ACI criterion, and this phenomenon is similar to the other composite structural systems such as RCS, CFT system.

To ensure the serviceability requirements of PSC composite girder bridges, it is essential to predict the stresses and deformations of the structure under service load conditions. Stresses and deformations vary continuously with time due to the effects of creep and shrinkage of concrete and relaxation of prestressing steel. The importance of these time-dependent effects is much more pronounced in precast prestressed concrete structures built in stages than in those constructed in one operation. In this paper, time-dependent analyses for PSC composite bridges using 30m standard girders have been conducted considering with the variation of the times of introducing initial prestressing forces and casting concrete. A computer program has been developed for the time-dependent analysis of simple or continuous PSC composite girders and parametric studies are conducted. Based on the numerical results, it is investigated the long-term behaviors of PSC composite girder bridges and discussed the limitations of the current codes for the prestress loss.

Precast concrete (PC) structure is one of the type of the structures which is made in a facility prior to installing it to a construction field. The contact surfaces between two PC structures should be treated for obtaining enough binding force by inducing prestressing force. However, in the many cases, the contact surface causes the crack and leakage of water. These cracks and water leakage can cause the corrosion of the rebar, and the corrosion of the rebar can severely reduce the long-term durability. In this study, the SMA wire connector is suggested to solve the problem with the contact surfaces between two PC structures. The pull-out resistance of the suggested SMA wire connector is evaluated by conducting the tests to find the effect of the number of wires, shape of connector part, and shape memory effect. As a result of this study, the empirical formula is suggested to estimate the pull-out resistance related with the effects of the shape of the connector, shape memory effect, and the adhesive force. The validity between the estimated pull-out resistance and the measured value is confirmed.

A construction standard production rates system for the factory built and on-site installation phases of OSC (Off-Site Construction)-based precast concrete (PC) structures in apartment buildings was recently proposed to establish an objective cost standard (Lee et al., 2021). In addition, the Korean government has taken steps to improve the institutional foundation for the systematic calculation of PC construction costs such as revising construction standard production rates for major components that can be applied to the on-site installation phase of PC method. In this study, we analyzed the results of a field survey of apartment building PC structures and collected expert opinions to develop factory-built and on-site installation standard production rates that can be applied to apartment building PC method. We also propose directions for improving the standard production rates so that they can be applied to the site and component of apartment buildings by comparing them with the current standard production rates. This study also derived the cost characteristics and cost reduction measures of PC construction by calculating the construction costs using the developed rates and comparing the construction costs with the RC methods of apartment buildings of the same scale. The construction standard production rates for PC construction derived in this study are expected to contribute to the spread of PC construction by ensuring the objectivity and consistency of the results of PC methods cost estimation.

A Web-based pile load test (WBPLT) system was developed and implemented in this study. Object-oriented and concept-based software design techniques were adopted to integrate the pile load test database into the system. A total of 673 case histories of pile load test were included in the database. The data consisted of drilled shaft and driven precast concrete pile axial load tests in drained, undrained, and gravel loading conditions as well as pre-analyzed data and back-calculated design parameters. Unified modeling language, a standard software design tool, was utilized to design the WBPLT system architecture with five major concept-based components. These components provide the static structure and dynamic behavior of system message flows in a visualized manner. The open-source Apache Web server is the building block of the WBPLT system, and PHP Web programming language implements the operation of the WBPLT components, particularly the automatic translation of user query into structured query language. A simple search and inexpensive query can be implemented through the Internet browser. The pile load test database is helpful, and data can be easily retrieved and utilized worldwide for research and advanced applications.

Recently there are many attempts to introduce PC construction method in buildings. But the study on PC structural wall has been made progress so slowly because it is very difficult to develop new items. In this study, we have developed new vertical joint on PC wall in order to upgrade constructivity and structural performance of the existing connections, then we have evaluated the seismic resistance performance. As a result of the cyclic loading tests for two specimens, proposed vertical joint on PC wall has shown that it behave the excellent structural performance in comparison to PC wall having no joint. Therefore, we think that proposed vertical joint is the system to apply buliding structure.
The seismic performance of the reinforced concrete (RC) special-shaped column to steel beam connections with steel jacket used in the RC column to steel beam fabricated frame structures was investigated in this study. The three full-scale specimens were subjected to cyclic loading. The failure mode, ultimate bearing capacity, shear strength capacity, stiffness degradation, energy dissipation capacity, and strain distribution of the specimens were studied by varying the steel jacket thickness parameters. Test results indicate that the RC special-shaped column to steel beam connection with steel jacket is reliable and has excellent seismic performance. The hysteresis curve is full and has excellent energy dissipation capacity. The thickness of the steel jacket is an important parameter affecting the seismic performance of the proposed connections, and the shear strength capacity, ductility, and initial stiffness of the specimens improve with the increase in the thickness of the steel jacket. The calculation formula for the shear strength capacity of RC special-shaped column to steel beam connections with steel jacket is proposed on the basis of the experimental results and numerical simulation analysis. The theoretical values of the formula are in good agreement with the experimental values.

With the amendment to the Building Act in November of 2005 that offered incentives in terms of floor area ratio and number of stories to apartment buildings adopting the Rahmen structure to facilitate remodeling, the construction industry is paying more attention to PC structures. As connections between PC columns and beams require complex design, it is very difficult to install and remove forms. Since forms made of plywood for such connections are fabricated and installed on site, a significant amount of labor is required, and constructability is low. Furthermore, after concrete casting, the forms are removed in a state in which they cannot be recycled, which leads to a significant amount of construction waste. For this reason, a solution to address such issues needs to be studied. However, many researchers have focused only on the structural performance of PC structures in Korea and elsewhere, ignoring the need for research on the forms used in building PC structure connections. Therefore, this research aims to develop a form that can improve the productivity of PC structure connection construction, and compare it with conventional forms to highlight its contribution to gains in productivity and economic viability.
In this study, Interaction among each element was construed by the unit of new stiffness matrix to analyze the finite element about Japanese precast concrete slab track and improved slab track. Dynamic analysis which is assumed a static analysis and a trainload on the transverse and the longitudinal load of the train into a series periodic function was performed by using the common program. And then, the difference of the movement between an improved section and an existing structure type was realized. Longitudinal static analysis indicated that the stress of the improved section is smaller than that of the protrusion of the existing slab track. And static and dynamic analysis on transverse load showed a little decrease of the displacement on new slab track. But the dynamic analysis result showed that new track system was considerably decreased by 30% compared with the existing Japanese slab track.
