  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the perspectives of pre-service elementary teachers on science education of future by using Draw-A-Science-Teacher-Test Checklist and open-ended questionnaire. The subjects of this study were 136 pre-service elementary teachers. The results of the research are as follows. The pre-service teachers thought that the physical environment reflecting the latest science and technology for science education will be developed in the future. However, few respondents indicated that student-centered equipment or a free and creative classroom environment would be provided. Second, they predicted that there would be changes in teacher's activities due to the introduction of advanced facilities and equipment, but most of the other teachers' activities were thought to be similar to those of current teachers. Third, the pre-service elementary teachers thought that a variety of new technologies would be used in science education and science teachers would mainly teach high-technology, IT technology, science knowledge, and newly discovered science concepts. In addition, we found that pre-service elementary teachers' images were more 'teacher-centered' than 'student-centered'. These results show that pre-service elementary teachers are expected to utilize the latest science and technology actively in science education in 2030 and that it will lead to changes in the physical environment, teachers' activities, education contents, and teaching and learning methods. In addition, they viewed acquisition of science concept as an important goal of science education in the future and had different points of view from the current science education curriculum and scholars' emphasis on educational research for the future.

Secondly, Korean language, social studies, mathematics, science, and English textbooks are most frequently used as teaching materials. Third, in the case of Korean, social, mathematics, science, and English subjects, in addition to textbooks, problem collections were used most frequently and arts and physical education subjects showed the most use of prints. Next, the results of analyzing the perception of the improvement method of the textbooks are as follows. First, in the high school class, the response rate was high in that Korean, social, mathematics, science, and English classes needed a textbook. Most of the respondents answered that they were not necessary for the textbooks of arts and physical education subjects. Second, in order to improve the textbooks, the most demanding textbooks focused on the core basic contents, followed by self - directed learning activities, competency centered contents selection, cooperative learning activities, and teacher self - development. • The purpose of this study was to investigate the meanings that pre-service secondary physical education teachers attach to learning-centered teaching through metaphor analysis and to examine their perceptions of the application of learning-centered teaching in physical education. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a survey was conducted to express the perception of learning-centered teaching in metaphors. The data analysis was processed through the process of coding, metaphor classification, determining the unit of analysis, and categorisation of the sample according to the metaphor analysis method. As a result, four major categories of educational needs, educational goals and contents, teaching and learning methods and evaluation, teacher education and roles, and eight content types were derived: lessons for self-actualisation, lessons for preparing for future society, lessons that foster creativity, open and diverse lessons, lessons that stimulate curiosity and interest, lessons that are suitable for individual development and characteristics, lessons that are burdensome to implement, and lessons that require teacher creativity and originality. The results of this study provide implications for the necessity and direction of learning-centered class.

  • In this study, we investigated pre-service science teachers' design for lessons using analogies in the perspectives of PCK. Three pre-service science teachers at a college of education in Seoul participated in this study. After the workshop of instructional analogies in science education, they practiced lessons using analogies in teaching practices. We observed their lessons and collected all of the teaching-learning materials. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted. The analyses of the results reveal that they dealt with mapping and unshared attribute only when using main analogies in their lessons and these processes were teacher-centered. There were some cases where they failed to adequately deal with analogies including concepts beyond the curriculum. When dealing with unshared attributes, they did not tend to accept students' opinions although they thought that unshared attributes are strongly related to misconceptions. Their understanding of assessment using analogies was not high. Assessment was relatively well done when they use student-centered analogies such as physical analogies or role-playing analogies. On the bases of the results, we suggest some educational implications for pre-service science teacher education.

From April 1 to April 30, 2022, samples were extracted using pur-posive sampling, which is a non-probability sampling method, for physical education majors attending universities of education in Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do, and Daejeon, etc. 400 study participants were sampled and cross-analysis was performed on the final 340 participants. First, Teacher competency had a significant effect on career decision. Second, teacher competency had a significant effect on career decision. Third, teacher competency had a significant effect on career decision. Fourth, subject satisfaction had a significant effect on career decision. Fifth, a causal relationship was established between teacher competency, subject satisfaction, and career decision. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the future career decision of pre-service physical education teachers by investigating the effect of teacher competence on subject satisfaction and career decision of university students majoring in physical education.

  • This study is aimed at analyzing earth conception the nine pre service teachers who are majoring in earth science education and classifying a special feature from the ontological categories. Open ended questionnaires and semi structured interviews which meant to contribute to identifying ontological categories of concepts involving study area were designed. Pre service teachers' ontological category about earth conception most showed to dynamic and proto process. In the results show that many pre service teachers recognize simply the conception to a material, a condition and a conversion of the state changing. Most of the pre service teachers show their intermediate understanding level about the earth inner construction according to the analyzed results of the drawing tasks and interviews. The main alternative conceptions show them through a definition of the plate, a wording definition between lithosphere and asthenosphere, a feature of the plate boundary, a heat convection in the earth inner, the earth inner heat source, the earth inner structure, a physical feature of the mantle.
