This study intended to review the historical mate selection process and to present wholesome mate selection process. For this purpose, reviewing the contents of secondary sources and novel literature. The following conclusions were drawn from this study: Mate selection process was a kind of culture which was influenced by social atmosphere. And pre-17th century, most of the young people had social intercourse liberally. Therefore we must constitute wholesome mate selection culture through early socialization about heterosexual social intercourse.

본 논문에서는 3차원 물체의 인식을 위한 표면 분류시 그 임계치를 선정하는 방법에 대해 제안하고자 한다. 특히 보다 세밀하고 복잡한 물체의 표현을 위해 사용하여 왔던 평균 곡률과 가우스곡률이 가지고 있던 문제점인 임계치 선정 문제를 통계적 방법에 의해 해결하는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 끝으로 본 논문의 유용성을 실험에 의해 입증하였다.

Effects of coolant pre-cooling and fuel pre-heating on the performance of a combined cycle using a F-class gas turbine were investigated. Coolant pre-cooling results in an increase of power output but a decrease in efficiency. Performance variation due to the fuel pre-heating depends on the location of the heat source for the pre-heating in the bottoming cycle (heat recovery steam generator). It was demonstrated that a careful selection of the heat source location would enhance efficiency with a minimal power penalty. The effect of combining the coolant pre-cooling and fuel pre-heating was also investigated. It was found that a favorable combination would yield power augmentation, while efficiency remains close to the reference value.

We measured small optical beam deflection in an image rotating Sagnac interferometer. We used a weak value measurement scheme that involves a pre-selection, weak perturbation, and a post-selection procedure to obtain the amplified value of beam deflection. The amplification factor of the measured beam deflection varied from 11 to 63 depending on the settings of the post-selection polarizer in front of the photodetector and the settings of polarization compensator in the interferometer.

The Clonal Selection Algorithm (CSA) is an algorithm inspired by the human immune system mechanism. In CSA, several parameters needs to be optimized by large amount of sensitivity analysis for the optimal results. They limit the accuracy of the results due to the uncertainty and subjectivity. Adaptive Clonal Selection (ACS), a modified version of CSA, is developed as an algorithm without controls by pre-defined parameters in terms of selection process and mutation strength. In this paper, we discuss the ACS in detail and present its implementation in construction site utilization planning (CSUP). When applied to a developed model published in research literature, it proves that the ACS are capable of searching the optimal layout of temporary facilities on construction site based on the result of objective function, especially when the parameterization process is considered. Although the ACS still needs some improvements, obtaining a promising result when working on a same case study computed by Genetic Algorithm and Electimze algorithm prove its potential in solving more complex construction optimization problems in the future.

Neighbor path selection is to pre-select alternate routes in case geographically correlated failures occur simultaneously on the communication network. Conventional heuristic-based algorithms no longer improve solutions because they cannot sufficiently utilize historical failure information. We present a novel solution model for neighbor path selection by using machine learning technique. Our proposed machine learning neighbor path selection (ML-NPS) model is composed of five modules- random graph generation, data set creation, machine learning modeling, neighbor path prediction, and path information acquisition. It is implemented by Python with Keras on Tensorflow and executed on the tiny computer, Raspberry PI 4B. Performance evaluations via numerical simulation show that the neighbor path communication success probability of our model is better than that of the conventional heuristic by 26% on the average.

본 연구는 예비 생물 교사들이 경쟁과 적응의 생물학적 의미를 일상생활에서 쓰이는 의미와 동일하게 이해함으로써 자연선택과 진화를 인식하는데 어려움이 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 예비 생물 교사 53명을 대상으로 지필검사를 하였고, 13명을 면담하였다. 지필 검사지는 세 종류로 경쟁과 적응의 일반적 의미를 묻는 검사지와 생물학적 의미를 묻는 검사지, 자연선택개념 검사지였다. 면담은 반구조화 면담으로 진행하였다. 자료 분석은 4단계로 진행하였다. 먼저, 예비 생물 교사가 생각하는 경쟁과 적응의 일반적 의미를 국어사전에 제시된 정의와 비교하였다. 두 번째로, 예비 생물 교사가 생각하는 경쟁과 적응의 생물학적 의미를 생물학적 정의와 비교하였다. 세 번째로, 예비 생물 교사가 생각하는 경쟁과 적응의 일반적 의미와 생물학적 의미를 비교하였다. 이를 바탕으로 생물학적 경쟁과 적응에 대한 예비 생물 교사의 대안개념 유형을 제시하였다. 마지막으로, 이 대안개념 유형이 자연선택과 진화를 설명할 때도 나타나는지 확인하였다. 연구 결과 예비 생물 교사들은 경쟁의 생물학적 의미를 일반적 의미와 혼용하여, 경쟁은 의도 또는 목적을 위해 싸우거나 다투는 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 적응은 개체 수준에서 생물이 살아남기 위해 환경에 맞춘다는 목적론적으로 인식하고 있었다. 즉 적응을 일반적 의미와 혼동하였고, 적응을 진화와 연결지어 설명할 때도 적응을 일반적 의미로 이해하여 적응이 계속되면 진화가 이루어진다고 생각하고 있었다. 이 연구는 그동안 국내 연구자들의 관심을 받지 못했던 경쟁과 적응 개념에 대한 중요성을 부각시키고, 효율적인 진화 교수 학습의 밑바탕이 되는 경쟁과 적응의 선개념 유형을 분석하여 제시했다는 데 의의가 있다.

Feature subset selection is as a pre-processing step in learning algorithms. In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm, ModifiedFAST, for feature subset selection. This algorithm is suitable for text datasets, and uses the concept of information gain to remove irrelevant and redundant features. A new optimal value of the threshold for symmetric uncertainty, used to identify relevant features, is found. The thresholds used by previous feature selection algorithms such as FAST, Relief, and CFS were not optimal. It has been proven that the threshold value greatly affects the percentage of selected features and the classification accuracy. A new performance unified metric that combines accuracy and the number of features selected has been proposed and applied in the proposed algorithm. It was experimentally shown that the percentage of selected features obtained by the proposed algorithm was lower than that obtained using existing algorithms in most of the datasets. The effectiveness of our algorithm on the optimal threshold was statistically validated with other algorithms.

The telecommunications market in European Union was fully liberalized as schedule except some member countries on and after January 1, 1998. The full liberalization of telecommunications market which will provide lower charges and various services to consumers. At present, the monopoly on voice telephony services is being maintained in five member countries authorized the implementation delay of liberalization. There are still remain many problems, such as pre-selection of carriers, number portability and interconnection, to solve by January 1, 2000. After examining the basic principle of telecommunication regulations and the liberalization trends of EU countries, we review the future assignments and prospects of European Union. finally we suggest implications for telecommunication policy and carriers in Korea.

This paper is concerned with identifying the importance of the pre-qualification factors used in selecting contractors and also in determining the importance of various criteria used for the award of contract. The study was carried out through questionnaire survey administered to a population of 60 respondents in consultancy and client's organisation. The data analysis included a statistical comparison of means and interpretation. The result of this study showed that experience of the contractor is the most important prequalification factor while technical expertise is the most important criteria in the award of contract. The result of this study will enable clients, consultants and contractors to lay emphasis on the influencing factors in terms of pre-qualification and award of contract.
