Transfer Learning Based Real-Time Crack Detection Using Unmanned Aerial System

  • Monitoring civil structures periodically is necessary for ensuring the fitness of the structures. Cracks on inner and outer surfaces of the building plays a vital role in indicating the health of the building. Conventionally, human visual inspection techniques were carried up to human reachable altitudes. Monitoring of high rise infrastructures cannot be done using this primitive method. Also, there is a necessity for more accurate prediction of cracks on building surfaces for ensuring the health and safety of the building. The proposed research focused on developing an efficient crack classification model using Transfer Learning enabled EfficientNet (TL-EN) architecture. Though many other pre-trained models were available for crack classification, they rely on more number of training parameters for better accuracy. The TL-EN model attained an accuracy of 0.99 with less number of parameters on large dataset. A bench marked METU dataset with 40000 images were used to test and validate the proposed model. The surfaces of high rise buildings were investigated using vision enabled Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAV). These UAV is fabricated with TL-EN model schema for capturing and analyzing the real time streaming video of building surfaces.

Preparation and Consideration of Sample Collection in Undeclared Areas for Denuclearization Verification

  • The Republic of Korea is expected to participate in the denuclearization verification activities by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in case any neighboring countries declared denuclearization. In this study, samples for the verification of nuclear activities in undeclared areas were selected for the denuclearization of neighboring countries, and the appropriateness of the procedures was considered. If a country with nuclear weapons declares denuclearization, it must be accompanied by the IAEA's verification regarding nuclear materials and weapons in the declared and undeclared areas. The analysis of the process samples or on-site environmental samples and the verification of undeclared nuclear facilities and materials aid in uncovering any evidence of concealment of nuclear activity in undeclared areas. Therefore, a methodology was established for effective sampling and analysis in accordance with proper procedures. Preparations for sampling in undeclared areas were undertaken for various potential scenarios, such as, the establishment of zones according to radiation dose, methods of supplying electricity, wireless communication networks, targets of sampling according to characteristics of nuclides, manned sampling method, and unmanned sampling method. Through this, procedures were established for pre- and post-site settings in preparation for hazards and limiting factors at nuclear inspection sites.

학습기반 효율적인 얼굴 검출 시스템 설계 (Design of an efficient learning-based face detection system)

  • Face recognition is a very important process in video monitoring and is a type of biometric technology. It is mainly used for identification and security purposes, such as ID cards, licenses, and passports. The recognition process has many variables and is complex, so development has been slow. In this paper, we proposed a face recognition method using CNN, which has been re-examined due to the recent development of computers and algorithms, and compared with the feature comparison method, which is an existing face recognition algorithm, to verify performance. The proposed face search method is divided into a face region extraction step and a learning step. For learning, face images were standardized to 50×50 pixels, and learning was conducted while minimizing unnecessary nodes. In this paper, convolution and polling-based techniques, which are one of the deep learning technologies, were used for learning, and 1,000 face images were randomly selected from among 7,000 images of Caltech, and as a result of inspection, the final recognition rate was 98%.

  • 재제조(Re-manufacturing)는 제품의 수명이 다하여 폐기단계에 있는 사용 후 제품이나 부품을 회수하여 재처리 후 신제품 조립공정과 같은 재조립 과정을 거쳐 본래 가지고 있던 제품의 기능 및 성능을 회복하도록 하는 제조방법의 하나이다. 재재조 산업은 환경보호 측면 뿐만 아니라 경제적 측면 또한 중요하다. 산업전반의 성패는 제품에 대한 신뢰 및 가격 경쟁력에 달려있다. 제품 제조 공정에서 인건비를 줄이고 제품의 신뢰도를 향상시키기 위해 영상처리 시스템을 이용한다. 본 연구에서는 폐드럼을 재생하기 위해 전처리 단계인 재활용 여부 판단 단계 및 드럼을 재생한 후 출고직전 영상처리를 이용하여 사람의 육안으로 식별이 어려운 이물질 및 불량을 검출한다.

전이학습 기반 콘크리트의 다양한 결함 분류에 관한 연구 (A study on the classification of various defects in concrete based on transfer learning)

  • 콘크리트 구조물의 적절한 유지관리를 위해서 다양한 결함에 대해 사전에 파악하고 유지관리하는 것이 필요하다. 현재 방법으로는 규모가 큰 사회기반시설물의 점검 시 효율성, 안전성, 신뢰성에 문제가 있어 새로운 점검 방식의 도입이 필요하다. 최근에는 영상에 대한 딥러닝 기술이 발달함에 따라 콘크리트 결함 분류 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 하지만, 균열 외에 오염과 박락 등에 대한 연구는 제한적이다. 본 연구에서는 사전에 학습된 딥러닝 모델에 대한 전이학습을 통한 다양한 콘크리트 결함 유형 분류 모델을 개발하고, 정확도를 저하시키는 요인을 도출 및 향후 발전 방향을 제시하였다. 이는 향후 콘크리트 유지관리 분야에서 활용도가 높을 것으로 예상된다.

휴대용 보일러튜브 건전성 평가시스템 개발 (Development of Portable Boiler Tube Health Evaluation System)

  • Although the proportion of coal-fired power generation is decreasing, efficient operating technology is needed to continuously invest in facilities and reduce maintenance costs until it is abolished. Boilers, one of the main facilities of power plants, operate for a long time in harsh environments of high temperature and high pressure. In addition, damage due to deterioration is likely to occur depending on the fuel and tube material used. It is very important to judge soundness because damage caused by deterioration adversely affects facility operation. Previously, replication method was used to analyze the progress of deterioration. In the replication method, pre-treatment such as chemical treatment is performed on the boiler tube in the field, the area is reproduced by attaching a film, and the replicated film is determined by an expert in the laboratory with an expensive microscope. However, this method involves substantial costs and time requirements, as well as the possibility of human errors. To address these issues, we developed a mobile health assessment system in this research. Since it is detachable and takes images in real time, this system enables swift evaluations across a broad range and facilitates the assessment of preprocessing quality. In addition, it was intended to reduce existing human mistakes by developing a degradation classification algorithm using the merger cluster method.

뇌전이 환자의 조영 증강 후 지연 FLAIR 영상의 유용성 (Patients with brain metastases the usefulness of contrast-enhanced FLAIR images after delay)

  • Purpose: FLAIR image is beneficial for the diagnosis of various bran diseases including ischemic CVS, brain tumors and infections. However the border between the legion of brain metastasis and surrounding edema may not be clear. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the practical benefits of delayed imaging by comparing the image from a patient with brain metastasis before a contrast enhancement and the image 10 minutes after a contrast enhancement. Materials and methods: Of the 92 people who underwent MRI brain metastases in suspected patients 13 people in three patients there is no video to target the 37 people confirmed cases, and motion artifacts brain metastases in our hospital June-December 2013, 18 people measurement position except for the three incorrect patient (male: 11 people, female: 7 people, average age: 60 years) in the target, test equipment, 3.0T MR System (ACHIEVA Release, Philips, I was 8ChannelSENSE Head Coil use Best, and the Netherlands). TR 11000 ms, TE 125 ms, TI2800 ms, Slice Thickness 5 mm, gap 5 mm, is a Slice number 21, the parameters of the 3D FFE, T2 FLAIR variable that was used to test, TR 8.1 ms, TE 3.7 ms, Slice number 240 I set to. The experiment was conducted by acquiring the FLAIR prior to contrast enhancement (heretofore referred to as Pre FLAIR), and acquiring the 3D FFE CE five minutes after the contrast enhancement, and recomposing the images in an axial plane of S/T 3mm, G 0mm (heretofore referred to as MPR TRA CE). Using the FLAIR 10 minutes after the contrast enhancement (heretofore referred to as Post FLAIR) and Pi-View, a retrospective study was conducted. Using MRIcro on the image of a patient confirmed for his diagnosis, the images before and after the contrast media, as well as the CNR and SNR of the MPR TRA CE images of the lesion and the site absent of lesion were compared and analyzed using a one-way analysis of variance. Results: CNR for Pre FLAIR and Post FLAIR were 34.35 and 60.13, respectively, with MPR TRA CE at 23.77 showing no significant difference (p<0.050). Post-experiment analysis shows a difference between Pre FLAIR and Post FLAIR in terms of CNR (p<0.050), but no difference in CNR between Post FLAIR and MPR TRA CE (p>0.050), indicating that the contrast media had an effect only on Pre FLAIR and Post FLAIR. The SNR for the normal site Pre FLAIR was 106.43, and for the lesion site 140.79. Post FLAIR for the normal site was 107.79, and for the lesion site 167.91. MPR TRA CE for the normal site was 140.23 and for the lesion site 183.19, showing significant difference (p<0.050), and post-experiment analysis shows that there was a difference in SNR only on the lesion sites for Pre FLAIR and Post FLAIR (p<0.050). There was no difference in SNR between the normal site and lesion site for Post FLAIR and MPR TRA CE, indicating no effect from the contrast media (p>0.050). Conclusions: This experiment shows that Post FLAIR has a higher contrast than Pre FLAIR, and a higher SNR for lesions, It was not not statistically significant and MPR TRA CE but CNR came out high. Inspection of post-contrast which is used in a high magnetic field is frequently used images of 3D T1 but, since the signal of the contrast medium and the blood flow is included, this method can be diagnostic accuracy is reduced, it is believed that when used in combination with Post FLAIR, and that can provide video information added to the diagnosis of brain metastases.

고형연료제품의 유해중금속 분석을 위한 마이크로파 산 분해법의 개선 (Improvement of Acid Digestion Method by Microwave for Hazardous Heavy Metal Analysis of Solid Refuse Fuel)

  • The quality standards of solid refuse fuel (SRF) define the values for 12 physico-chemical properties, including moisture, lower heating value, and metal compounds, according to Article 20 of the Enforcement Rules of the Act on Resource Saving and Recycling Promotion. These parameters are evaluated via various SRF Quality Test Methods, but problems related to the heavy metal content have been observed in the microwave acid digestion method. Therefore, these methods and their applicability need improvement. In this study, the appropriate testing conditions were derived by varying the parameters of microwave acid digestion, such as microwave power and pre-treatment time. The pre-treatment of SRF as a function of the microwave power revealed an incomplete decomposition of the sample at 600 W, and the heavy metal content analysis was difficult to perform under 9 mL of nitric acid and 3 mL of hydrochloric acid. The experiments with the reference materials under nitric acid at 600 W lasted 30 minutes, and 1,000 W for 20 or 30 minutes were considered optimal conditions. The results confirmed that a mixture of SRF and an acid would take about 20 minutes to reach $180^{\circ}C$, requiring at least 30 minutes of pre-treatment. The accuracy was within 30% of the standard deviation, with a precision of 70 ~ 130% of the heavy metal recovery rate. By applying these conditions to SRF, the results for each condition were not significantly different and the heavy metal standards for As, Pb, Cd, and Cr were satisfied.

고병원성 바이러스 검사를 위한 분자진단검사실 구축 (Designing a Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory for Testing Highly Pathogenic Viruses)

  • 최근 SARS-CoV-2를 포함한 신종 및 변종 고병원성 바이러스의 확산과 이를 확진하기 위한 진단검사의 수요가 증가함에 따라 분자유전검사실 구축 시 필요한 공간별 기능을 조사하고 임상병리사의 안전성 확보를 위한 시설 지침을 마련하고자 하였다. 검사과정 중 검체 전처리 및 핵산 증폭 전실 및 후실 분리와 함께 음압설비가 필요하며, 핵산 증폭 전 공간을 분리해 단방향 작업 흐름을 고려해 공간 구성을 하여야 한다. 검사 진행과정 중 검체 전처리, 핵산 증폭 전 단계에서 실 분리와 함께 음압시설이 필요하며, 공간구성은 핵산증폭 전실 및 후실 공간을 분리하고 검사진행 방향을 단방향 검사흐름(unidirectional work flow)을 고려하여 계획하여야 한다. 안전관리 시설은 생물학적 안전 기준 2등급으로 지정하고 그에 따른 안전보호구를 배치하고, 위험물을 취급하는 경우 생물학적 안전상자 내부에서 진행해야 하며, 전염성 오염물의 폐기를 위한 멸균기가 필요하다. 국내 분자유전검사실 사례의 공통점은 검체 전처리공간을 -2.5 Pa 이하의 음압으로 유지하고 있으며, 검사과정상 전처리와 시약준비 공간에 대해서는 다른 공간에서 진행하고 있었다. 본 연구는 검사과정의 세부흐름과 공간별 기능을 분리하고 안전관리 기준 적용한 검사실 구축 방향을 제시하였고, 임시시설과 결핵검사실을 변경하여 사용하는 사례를 소개함으로써 더욱 효율적인 방향을 모색할 수 있는 자료로 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

삼성분계 시멘트의 해수와 담수에서의 자기치유 효과 (The Effects of Self-Healing for Ternary Blended Cement in Tap-water and Sea-water)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 OPC, GGBFS 그리고 FA를 사용한 삼성분계 시멘트(TBC) 페이스트의 자기치유 특성에 관한 것이다. 초음파속도(UPV)측정으로 통해 삼성분계 시멘트의 자기치유 능력에 대한 OPC-GGBFS-FA의 영향을 분석하였다. TBC 페이스트는 0.5의 일정한 물-결합재 비에 GGBFS-FA를 20%, 40% 그리고 60% 치환한 배합이다. 본 연구는 재령 28일(하중 재하 후)이후의 거동에 초점을 맞추었다. 재령 28일에 휨시험을 통해 사각형의 보 시험체에 미리 균열을 발생시켰다. 시험체들은(균열을 발생시키지 않은 것과 균열을 발생시킨) 60일까지 담수와 해수에 침지하였다. 시험결과에 따르면 TBC 페이스트의 자기치유 능력은 GGBFS의 혼합률이 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 이는 GGBFS와 FA는 재령 28일 이후에도 계속해서 수화가 진행되는데, GGBFS와 FA의 수화반응 물질들이 미세구조의 변화와 균열을 폐합한다. 이러한 결과들로부터, 균열을 발생시킨 모든 시험체에서 자기치유가 일어났고 이는 침지 30일에서 가장 많이 발생하였다. 더구나 담수와 해수에 침지한 시험체의 치유의 대부분이 침지 30일 동안 일어났다. 해수에 침지한 시험체의 균열 치유는 담수보다 빨랐다. 해수와 담수에 침지한 시험체의 치유효과의 차이는 해수에 포함된 이온들 때문이다. 더구나 재령효과를 고려한 자기치유효과는 침지 30일까지가 가장 강력하고 그다음엔 차츰 약해졌다.
