하이브리드 차량의 엔진 및 배터리 냉각팬 구동용 BLDC모터 개발 (Development of BLDC Motor for HEV Engine Cooling and Battery Cooling System)

  • Hybrid Electric Vehicles(HEVs) have seriously come into prevalence recently as car manufacturers and consumers have become more aware of the environmental and economic problems of conventional vehicles. For the alternative power-train and battery cooling systems in HEVs, an effective thermal management system is required, and many automakers are interested in using Brushless DC(BLDC) motors for cooling fans for the overall traction unit's performance and energy saving capability. This paper presents the development status of BLDC motors as major parts of the power-train, i.e. the engine cooling and battery cooling fans of HEVs. A design that uses BLDC motors for the power-train and each battery cooling fan, is successfully implemented through using electro-magnetic analysis, and prototype BLDC motors are examined. As experimental results, the BLDC motors achieved an efficiency of 85% as engine cooling fans and 72% as a battery thermal management fan motor. The electric cogging noise is significantly reduced by changing the skew of the slot pitch angle and optimizing the magnetic shape.

  • In order to improve the efficiency of the main transformer in a tilting train, the optimal operation of a cooling system is necessary. For the development of the optimal control algorithm of a cooling system, the mathematical model of a main transformer cooling system was developed. This includes the dynamic model of a main transformer, an oil pump, an oil cooler and a blower. The system algorithm of a cooling system, which consists of the temperature setpoint algorithm and the temperature control algorithm, was developed. Optimal oil temperatures of the inlet and the outlet of the main transformer were obtained by considering the total electric power consumption of the system. The oil inlet temperature was controlled by the blower and the oil outlet temperature was controlled by the oil pump. A simulation program was developed by using the mathematical model and the system algorithm. Simulation results showed that the system algorithm developed from this study may be effectively used to control the main transformer cooling system in a tilting train.

  • Present, the cooling method of using a phase-change heat transfer such as immersed type, heat pipe etc is applied in cooling of high-capacity power semiconductors of the main power system for the high speed train with the concentrated traction. In order to apply these phase-change cooling system to the high speed EMU to be developed, needed are technological researches of consideration of installing space, air passage, light weight material and miniaturization. Although this research establishes design specifications through theoretical analysis and computational analysis from the basic design process of the cooling system of the propulsion system for the high-speed EMU, when details design is completed, present improvement subject and optimum design before manufacturing the prototype of the cooling system on the basis of analysis results. And then, carried out will be the performance tests through prototype manufacture and reliability estimation by components of cooling system.

  • Reliability of onboard power supply systems on rolling stock is a very important issue for the railway operator. While a failure of the HVAC supply results in a loss of comfort for the passengers, a failure of the supply for air compressors or for the traction cooling systems results in towing the train. This is, looking at the required availability of a train, not acceptable. An active redundancy concept for the onboard power supply maximizes the availability of the system. This paper describes such a system under the aspect of $\cdot$ Weight reduction $\cdot$ Continuous operation when changing from normal to redundant operation $\cdot$ Flexibility in train design.

  • This paper introduced an approach of improvement of performance of Electric device for EMU type Train like as TTX. The electric equipments are characterized by insulation, Noise, cooling system etc. and Their weight arc decided by these factors. There are two kinds of power source in EMU train. First, DC voltage source, 1500 volt, 750 volt is used for subway system. Second, AC power source 25000 volt is applied to high speed train and existing main lines. Composite material has the protection of inrush current and high frequency noise. We can use this material to minimize weight of train. Additionally we can get energy saving when operator service TTX.

  • This paper introduces the design and control method of braking chopper circuit which can supply input power to ventilation inverter of traction control system. The DC input voltage from auxiliary block (static inverter) is normally used as an input of ventilation inverter. It converts DC input to AC output voltage to drive cooling fans for traction control system and traction motors. The electrical braking force is very important for high speed train to guarantee safety even though the train is running in the dead section where the pantograph voltage is not supplied. When the high speed train decelerate speed in dead section, the regenerative energy is dissipated by braking resistor. This paper proposed the braking chopper control method to implement rheostatic braking function and the appropriate chopper circuit for supplying voltage source to ventilation inverter during rheostatic braking mode. The proposed chopper circuit makes it possible for traction control system to regenerate power continuously regardless of the existence of pantograph voltage. The feasibility of proposed braking chopper control and circuit were proven by inertia load test and actual train field test.

  • AC to DC single phase PWM converter for traction application requires rated high power and voltage. Therefor, series or parallel operation converters are necessary with considering the limitation of the power device specification.   • This paper presents a new design works for the braking chopper system which is included in the propulsion system of KTX high speed train. Due to the current fed type synchronous motors used in the propulsion system, some different behaviors are shown comparing to the voltage type other chopper systems. Specially this chopper system acts either braking controlling or regenerative power controlling system with a parallel resistive load in the propulsion system. In this paper, an improved simple high power IGBT brake chopper system has proposed which is able to be replaced with an existing complicated GTO chopper system. The analytical approaches to the parallel load type current chopper system and the propper snubber circuits calculation were explained in this paper to control new chopper system. In addition, the thermal resistance of the cooling system for power dissipation of IGBT modules was calculated also. Finally several PC simulations have been done to clarify its availability.

  • Recently, Interior Permanent Magnet Machine(IPM) is widely used for traction motor in the high speed train. Higher efficiency and power density are the superb performance of IPM. Due to the high power density, however, it has lots of heat source which are originated from copper losses and core losses. These heat source can cause the permanent demagnetization in magnet and the loss of torque and power. To prevent the undesirable loss in the traction motor, the accurate loss calculation and the thermal analysis should be preceded. Especially, the end-winding area and permanent magnet area should be examined correctly. In this paper, the electromagnetic fields were examined by finite element method to analyze the electromagnetic properties of IPM and thermal analysis are carried out with pre-calculated losses. To validate the analysis result, the experiment set with forced air cooling system is manufactured.

열차내 연산시스템용 AF궤도회로 신뢰성향상 방안 연구 (Reliability improvement methods of AF track circuits for the train control system)

  • 열차의 위치를 검지하고 열차내연산(DTG)을 위한 각종 열차제어데이터를 차상으로 전송하는 AF궤도회로장치는 단일계로 구성되어 있다. 만약, 고장이 발생할 경우 선로전환기 및 신호기제어가 불가능하여 시스템이 복구되기까지 기관사에 의해 수동으로 열차를 운전하여야 한다. 이 과정에서 인적 오류는 열차지연, 충돌, 탈선 등 치명적인 안전사고 발생요인으로 작용한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 고장모드마다 시스템과 열차에 미치는 영향을 분석하였으며, 고장평점 및 고장등급을 계량화하였다. 계량화된 분석결과를 토대로 전원장치 독립설치, 증폭PCB의 결함콘덴서 원인분석 및 교체, 저항자 냉각시스템설치, 작업방법개선을 통해 고장발생건수 감소 및 신뢰성의 척도인 평균고장간격(MTBF)의 증가와 평균복구간격(MTTR)이 감소되었다. 그리고, 지금까지 경험에 의한 유지보수체계를 계량화된 방법에 의해 예측정비를 수행토록 하여 AF 궤도회로에 대한 신뢰성을 향상할 수 있도록 하였다.
