The researches about energy efficieny of wireless sensor MAC protocol is an issue in present days. Therefore, MAC and routing protocols for reducing energy consumption at sensor nodes is needed. In this study, a low-power MAC protocol for sensor network is proposed, which in based on X-MAC by exploiting virtual synchronization. The virtual synchronization technique lets senders postpone packet transmission until receivers' wake-up time, so that senders transmit only one or two short preambles. Using NS-2, a proposed MAC protocol improve the energy efficiency by 10% compared with the X-MAC protocol.
In this paper, we present a MMPR (Minimizing the Maximum Used Power Routing) Algorithm in a MANET (Mobile ad hoc network) by modifying the route selection algorithm in well-known routing MANET protocol. In the previous route selection algorithms, the metric for cost function is the minimal hop which does not consider the energy status. MMPR uses the metric with used energy The node that want to know the route for some destination begins calculating the route cost function with alpha which is the maximum used energy in the known route. If the new route that contains the node whose used energy is greater than previous known alpha is known to the node that want to send a packet in some moment, the probability of selecting the new route is lower. Experimental results with MMPR show higher performance in both the maximum used energy and the number of dead nodes than that of the CMMBCR (Conditional Max-Min Battery Routing).

Although traditional single-hop cellular networks had been serving well in past years, they are no longer economically feasible in supporting high data-rate, multimedia services of $4^{th}$Generation (4G) communications due to the requirement of high transmission power By contrast, multi-hop cellular networks (MCN) are capable of dramatically saving the transmission power by overlaying the capability of ad hoc networking among mobile terminals on the cellular network infrastructure. To achieve this performance gain as well as enable 4G services, an efficient routing protocol needs to be designed for MCN. In this paper, we propose a reactive route discovery protocol for MCN that uses directional information to the base station in the route discovery process. Our analysis/simulation results have demonstrated that the proposed protocol significantly reduces flooding overheads. In addition, we consider issues for 4G services in MCN and applications of the proposed protocol.
Recently, lot of researches for the multi-level protocol have been done to balance the sensor node energy consumption of WSN and improve the node efficiency to extend the life of the entire network. Especially in multi-hop protocol, a variety of models have been proposed to improve energy efficiency and apply it to WSN protocol. In this paper, we analyze LEACH algorithm and propose new method based on center of local clustering routing algorithm in wireless sensor networks. We also perform NS-2 simulation to show the performance of our model.
Data dissemination using either flooding or legacy ad-hoc routing protocol is not realistic approach in the wireless sensor networks, which are composed of sensor nodes with very weak computing power, small memory and limited battery. In this paper, we propose the ELF(Energy-efficient Localized Flooding) protocol. The ELF is energy-efficient data dissemination protocol for wireless sensor networks. In the ELF protocol, there are two data delivery phases between fixed source and mobile sink node. The first phase, before the tracking zone, sensing data are forwarded by unicasting. After that, within the tracking zone, sensing data are delivered by localized flooding. Namely, the ELF Properly combines advantages from both unicasting and flooding. According to evaluation results by simulation, the proposed ELF protocol maintains very high data delivery ratio with using a little energy. Also, the property of average delay is better than others. From our research results, the ELF is very effective data dissemination protocol for wireless sensor networks.

In large-scale wireless sensor networks, the deployed nodes cannot be replaced or recharged after first deployment. Also, dead nodes maγ lead to the partition of whole networks. While performing data dissemination under a battery power constraint, energy efficiency is a key design factor of routing protocol. As a solution for the efficient data dissemination, in this paper, we propose a protocol namely Hierarchical Data Dissemination (HDD) which provides scalable and efficient data delivery to multiple sources and mobile sinks. HDD uses the facts that sink nodes are central gathering Points and source-centric data forwarding paths are constructed and it is maintained with two-tier communications. The performance of HDD is compared with TTDD about the energy consumption, data delivery time and data success ration. The extensive simulation results show that HDD Routing Protocol outperforms TIDD by more than $1.5{\sim}3times$ on energy consumption.
The sensor nodes that form a wireless sensor network must perform both routing and sensing roles, since each sensor node always has a regular energy drain. The majority of sensors being used in wireless sensor networks are either unmanned or operated in environments that make them difficult for humans to approach. Furthermore, since many wireless sensor networks contain large numbers of sensors, thus requiring the sensor nodes to be small in size and cheap in price, the amount of power that can be supplied to the nodes and their data processing capacity are both limited. In this paper, we proposes the WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) algorithm which is applied sensor node that has low power consumption and efficiency measurement. Moreover, the efficiency routing protocol is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm reduces power consumption of sensor node data communication. It has not researched in LEACH(Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) routing protocol. As controlling the active/sleep mode based on the measured data by sensor node, the energy consumption is able to be managed. In the event, the data is transferred to the local cluster head already set. The other side, this algorithm send the data as dependent on the information such as initial and present energy, and the number of rounds that are transformed into cluster header and then transferred. In this situation, the assignment of each node to cluster head evenly is very important. We selected cluster head efficiently and uniformly distributed the energy to each cluster node through the proposed algorithm. Consequently, this caused the extension of the WSN life time.
Ubiquitous computing supports environment to freely connect to network without restrictions of place and time. This environment enables easy access and sharing of information, but because of easy unauthorized accesses, specified security policy is needed. Especially, ubiquitous sensor network devices use limited power and are small in size, so, many restrictions on policies are bound to happen. This paper proposes double-key based light weight security protocol, independent to specific sensor OS, platform and routing protocol in ubiquitous sensor network. The proposed protocol supports safe symmetric key distribution, and allows security manager to change and manage security levels and keys. This had a strong merit by which small process can make large security measures. In the performance evaluation, the proposed light weight security protocol using double-key in ubiquitous sensor network allows relatively efficient low power security policy. It will be efficient to ubiquitous sensor network, such as smart of ace and smart home.

The efficient node energy utilization in wireless sensor networks has been studied because sensor nodes operate with limited power based on battery. Since a large number of sensor nodes are densely deployed and collect data by cooperation in wireless sensor network, keeping more sensor nodes alive as possible is important to extend the lifetime of the sensor network. Energy efficiency is an important factor of researches that efficient routing algorithm is needed in wireless sensor network. In this research, I consider some methods to utilize more efficiently the limited power resource of wireless sensor networks. The proposed algorithm is the sink first divides the network into several areas with hop counts and data transmission based on cluster ID. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been examined and evaluated with NS-2 simulator in terms of lifetime, amount of data and overhead.
In this study, we use a parallel simulator PASENS(Parallel SEnsor Network Simulator) to predict power consumption and data reception rate of the hierarchical routing protocols for sensor network - LEACH (Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), TL-LEACH (Two Level Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), M-LEACH (Multi hop Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) and LEACH-C (LEACH-Centralized). According to simulation results, M-LEACH routing protocol shows the highest data reception rate for the wider area, since more sensor nodes are involved in the data transmission. And LEACH-C routing protocol, where the sink node considers the entire node's residual energy and location to determine the cluster head, results in the most efficient energy consumption and in the narrow area needed long life of sensor network.
