구형파 구동 BLDCM의 동기정류를 사용한 인버터 손실 저감 (Inverter Losses Reduction for Rectangular Drive BLDCM using Synchronous Rectification)

  • In this paper, the inverter switch losses of BLDC motor for three types of PWM methods and power devices were analyzed. When the BLDC motor is driven at low currents, the inverter switch losses for MOSFET are low because MOSFET operates like resistance. However, the inverter switch losses for IGBT are higher than MOSFET due to its large turn-off losses. Moreover, synchronous rectification switching method is adaptable because MOSFET has 2-channel. So, MOSFET can be driven with more low impedance and losses. For low power inverter with MOSFET, the power losses of unified PWM are lower than that of unipolar and bipolar PWM. Proposed method and losses analysis results are verified by examination and simulation using Matlab/Simulink.

High Performance and Low Cost Single Switch Current-fed Energy Recovery Circuits for AC Plasma Display Panels

  • A high performance and low cost single switch current fed energy recovery circuit (ERC) for an alternating current (AC) plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed. Since it is composed of only one power switch compared with the conventional circuit consisting of four power switches and two large energy recovery capacitors, the ERC features a simpler structure and lower cost. Furthermore, since all power switches can be switched under soft switching operating conditions, the proposed circuit has desirable merits such as increased reliability and low switching loss. Specifically, there are no serious voltage notches across the PDP with the aid of gas discharge current compensation, which can greatly reduce the current stress of all inverter switches, and provide those switches with the turn on timing margin. To confirm the validity of proposed circuit, its operation and performance were verified on a prototype for 7-inch test PDP.

상변위에 의한 동기전동기의 과도안정도 개선 (Improvement of Synchronous Motor Transient Stability by Phase Slipping)

  • The transient stability of the synchronous motor is generally improved by damper winding or flywheel. However the synchronous motor at full load will be pulled out from normal operation state when the period of power failure exceeds approximately ten cycle per second. This paper studies the method of improving the stability of synchronous motor by equipping the phase slipping switch between the motor and power source. This paper shows the motor does not pull out, which results from the decrease of power angle to about 30 electrical degrees by means of the switch even when the relatively long period of power failure brings the power angle to some 150 electrical degrees.

  • SRM의 토크는 상전류와 인덕턱스의 기울기에 따라 달라진다. 그러나 자기회로의 포화로 인하여 원하는 토크를 제어하기 어렵다. 원하는 토크를 발생시키기 위해 SRM 드라이브는 스위치-온각, 스위치-오프각 그리고 인가 접압에 의해 제어된다. 스위치-온, 오프 각 에의해 원하는 전류와 토크를 제어할수있다. 본 논문은 스위치 온, 오프각을 제어하는 최적제어방식을 제안하였다. 스위치 오프 각은 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 효율을 기준으로 결정하였으며, 스위치 온각은 부하에 의해 결정되었다. 도통각은 토크제어와 속도제어를 위해 GA-신경회로망을 이용하여 제어하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 단일전력단 Two-Switch Forward 컨버터에 관하여 논하였다. 최근 국제적으로 제정된 ICE 61000-3-2와 IEEE 519같은 규정에서 입력 전류에 대한 고조파 규제가 강화되면서 전원 공급 장치의 역률개선 회로가 필수적으로 되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 저전압 대전류 출력에 적합한 방안으로 단일전력단 Two-Switch Forward 컨버터 회로를 제안하고, 모드별 동작, 특성 및 설계에 관하여 논하였으며, MOSFET를 사용하여 200[W](5[V], 40[A])급 시작품을 제작, 100[kHz]에서 실험하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 결함접지구조(Defected Ground Structure: DGS)의 전파 지연 특성을 이용하여 소형으로 구현한 휴대 인터넷용 고전력 Single Pole Double Throw(SPDT) 스위치의 특성이 제공되며 1/4 파장 전송선을 이용하여 제작된 일반적인 방식의 스위치와 그 특성이 비교된다. DGS를 활용하여 제작된 스위치는 높은 격리도를 확보하기 위해 병렬구조의 다이오드를 사용하여 구성되었으며 2.3 GHz에서 0.8 dB의 삽입 손실과 50 dB 이상의 격리도 특성을 보였고 50 W 이상의 전력을 다룰 수 있었다. DGS를 활용한 스위치는 기존의 전송선 방식의 스위치와 거의 동일한 스위칭 특성을 보이면서도 $50\%$ 가까운 회로의 크기 감소를 달성할 수 있었다.

  • This paper presents a novel circuit topology of the double two-switch forward type high frequency transformer linked soft-switching PWM DC-DC power converter with tapped inductor filters that can operate under a condition of the low peak voltage stress across the power semiconductor devices and lowered peak current stress through the transformer for some high power applications. This circuit topology of an interleaved two-switch forward soft-switching power converter is proposed in the order to minimize an idle circulating current due to the tapped inductor filter without of any additional active auxiliary resonant-assisted snubber circuits, such as active resonant DC link snubbers and AC link snubbers, active resonant commutation leg link snubbers. The unique advantages of this power converter are less power circuit components and power semiconductor devices, constant frequency PWM scheme, cost effective configuration and wider soft-switching PWM operation range under PWM power regulations load variations. The practical effectiveness of the proposed soft-switching converter circuit topology is tested by simulations and is proved by experimental results received from the 500W-100kHz breadboard setup.

저전력 무선통신 모뎀 구현용 전류기억소자 성능개선 (Performance Improvement of Current Memory for Low Power Wireless Communication MODEM)

  • 다양한 무선통신 방식이 출현함에 따라 배터리 수명과, 저전력 동작이 중요시되면서 무선 통신용 LSI는 SI circuit을 이용하는 analog current-mode signal processing을 주목하고 있다. 그러나 SI (Switched-Current) circuit을 구성하는 current memory는 clock-feedthrough의 문제점을 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 current memory의 문제점인 clock-feedthrough의 일반적인 해결방안으로 CMOS switch의 연결을 검토하고, current memory 성능 개선의 설계방안을 제안하기 위하여 CMOS switch 간의 width의 관계를 도출하고자 한다. Simulation 결과, memory MOS의 width가 20um, input current와 bias current의 ratio가 0.3, CMOS switch nMOS의 width가 2~6um일 경우에 CMOS switch 간의 width는 $W_{Mp}=5.62W_{Mn}+1.6$의 관계로 정의되고, CMOS switch nMOS의 width가 6~10um일 경우에 CMOS switch 간의 width는 $W_{Mp}=2.05W_{Mn}+23$의 관계로 정의되는 것을 확인하였다. 이 때 정의된 MOS transistor의 관계는 memory MOS의 성능향상을 위한 설계에 유용한 지침이 될 것으로 기대된다.

Characterization of the Hydrogen Reservoir for a High Power Gas Switch

  • This paper presents the understandings carried out for the installation of the hydrogen reservoir of the multi-gap pseudospark switch under developing for the accelerator applications. As a cold cold cathode switch, the pseudospark switch could replace the thyratron switch which has hot cathode and being used well currently in the high power field such as laser and accelerator applications. Especially in the klystron modulator, the key component is a switch which mostly defines the jitter and the instability of the modulator system. To get the less jitter and the instability, we need to find proper range of the pressure for the gas discharge inside gas switch. This could be achieved by the understanding of the characteristic of the nonevaporable getter (NEG) which is used as a hydrogen reservoir for the switch. Therefore we verified the characteristics of the NEG (St 172, Saes) and its installation in the switch. Finally we controlled the getter to find best pressure point for the pseudospark switch.

  • This paper presents a new hybrid control scheme using Active-Clamped Class-E (ACCE) inverter of induction heating(IH) jar for high power applications. The proposed hybrid control scheme has characteristics, which act as class-E inverter at lower switch voltage and ACCE inverter at higher switch voltage than reference voltage of the main switch by feeding back voltage one as well as advantages of conventional ACCE inverter such as zero-voltage switching(ZVS) of the main switch and the reduced switch voltage due to the clamping circuit. Moreover, the proposed control method makes higher output power than conventional ACCE inverter control one since ACCE inverter is operated like class-E inverter at low voltage condition. The principle of the proposed control are explained in detail and the validity of the proposed control scheme is verified through the several interesting simulated and experimental results.
